Re: The Nursery

  • @neener*neener* Thanks! That is actually the wardrobe/dressing/office room which is where the crib will go when the baby needs one, not our bedroom. But thanks, about the curtains and rug!

    2. Love the chair. :)
  • @chucksmom15 where did you get the chair? Is it a rocker and recliner

I got it at a local store but the line is at a bunch of places.  The line is called Best Chairs and mine is part of the Storytime series.  It is a rocker, recliner and it swivels 360 degrees.  It is the best chair!  Plus they had like a 1,000 fabrics to choose from.  This is a screen shot of the website.  They have a store locator to see if they carry it near you.

Thanks!  Chuck wants to get up there so bad but he hasn't figured it out yet.  The one time he tried it swiveled and freaked him out lol
  • @chucksmom15 , so cute!  (The dogs AND the chair) :)

@pandappanderson , love that color! What a cute space.
  • @lucylou214 it’s actually the colour is the card stock the labs give you your ultrasound picture on! We really liked it so had it colourmatched. We wanted something gender neutral even though we know we’re having a girl.

  • All of your nurseries look amazing!!

You are simultaneously making me excited to start decorating and terrified because I haven't done anything yet lol.
  • Still a work in progress...got a new rug, wall decals, and and made a collage on plywood. Plan to buy new sheets and a changing table cover once baby #3 shows up, since if it’s a girl I want something with ruffles and polka dots or something fun after two boys!
  • So just curious... how terrible of an idea is it to put the changing table under our TV mounted on the wall? We are having a boy. DH put the TV up before we even started trying to get pregnant, and it's the only open space for a changing area in the room except in front of the windows (and under the vent). It's not that we can't take it down, but it'd be nice to watch netflix while sitting on the bed facing it when feeding later...

Could the baby reach the tv while on the changing table? If not should be fine.

  • @mamaof5already Don't think he'd be able to touch it... I guess I was more worried about his old faithful waterworks hitting the TV lol. No idea how high that can go if we don't catch it in time. My brother recommended the pee pee teepee lol.

I’ve had a pee stream go over my head if that helps you guesstimate. But only a couple of times - you learn pretty fast to keep it covered! I’ve heard that the teepee is kind of silly. Never tried it despite two boys, because my friends said it still could get knocked off by a wiggly baby or strong stream. Plus it’s just as easy to keep a diaper or wipe over them while changing

I agree with @jessilee15 I just draped a baby wipe over my son when I changed him and it worked just fine.

That's so fun, and such a cool meaning! :)
  • Has anyone ever hung wallpaper before? I wanted to do an accent wall of wallpaper, and fell in love with this shiplap paper from the Magnolia collection by Joanna Gaines. the wall has no windows or doors so I'm thinking it shouldn't be toooooo bad  :#:#

  • Oh my gosh, you ladies are all way ahead of me!! We’ve gotten as far as picking out some paint samples and ordering some decor bits and pieces but that’s it! The only piece of furniture we have for the nursery is a bookshelf that I already owned. We’re having a boy but I’m not big on super girly/boyish themes either way. I’m planning on a very soft mint green for the walls with white beadboard wainscoting around the lower half of the room. I’m adding little classic/vintage storybook touches for a theme but mostly keeping it simple. It’s all done and looks great in my brain! Lol

  • We finally got around the working on the nursery the last two days! Painted and have the crib set-up. It feels like a little bit of progress- which eases my anxiety. SO and I are sooo opposite when it comes to planning/preparing. I want everyhing done ASAP and he is way more laid back
  • @nightnurse92 That looks like it’s going to be a very cozy and pretty nursery when it’s finished! Love the rug!

  • @Aeml1985 it’s a boy. Plan on accenting with a lot of natural wood and industrial looking pieces

@Starynightsky24 thank you! We do too. Got it on sale from target.com

@winnie1122 the rug is an antique persian rug that was given to us by my grandparents. They have had it for decades. Im considering changing it out once LO is a little bigger and more likely to make messes. But for now, i love the sentimental value
  • We're doing the Adventure Awaits them (registered at Target) I'm so frustrated that a lot of the items that I want for the baby's nursery are sold out!! Anyone else encountering this problem with Target? Any experience with how long it takes Target to get items back in stock?

  • @alemarie1 , we have registered for a couple of Cloud Island items which have been out of stock for at least a month.  One of them is just a swaddle set, which I LOVE, but can obviously be replaced by another theme or print if it never comes back in stock.  I'd say, when you have a spare moment, look around for alternatives to get in case your items don't come back by the time you need or want them. Fingers crossed, though!

You could always register for a different set as well and if you receive the one you wanted less, just don't open it. Then you could do an even exchange when it's back in stock.
  • My nursery is still an empty room with a car seat in a box smack dab in the middle of it.

Ours currently is an empty room with fuschia carpet and a basket of laundry I don’t feel like putting away.
  • @ash0625 @kristinl492 I'm jealous of your empty rooms! The nursery is/was a spare room we put a lot of stuff into because we had no other place to put it, so I have to toss a bunch of crap and figure out places for the rest of it. I just can't get motivated to do it.

  • @lucylou214 thank your for the advice.

@eggplantface my nursery was a spare room collecting all the clutter, we're working on cleaning it out as well but realizing we need more storage in the house  :s

  • @eggplantface , clearing the stuff out of the room that is now the nursery was rough! It took me a long time to get motivated to do that.
  • Our nursery was also a spare bedroom...well, still is...because I left the bed in there. It had pink sparkly curtains and matching bedding, so when we found out we're having a girl, I was so relieved we wouldn't have to waste money changing it!
  • Our nursery was cleaned out, painted and we got all the furniture in.  Then we had our shower this weekend and it's full of presents.  I've got to get in there and sort through everything to get it put away this weekend.
  • In love with this decal we bought off Etsy

  • Looks great, @alemarie1! I love it with the woodsy/natural feel of the crib finish.
  • Our nursery is the alcove off our living room. It's teeny tiny and has a built in twin size bed that we can't tear out but it's still coming together! Just need a small dresser.
