@sprkls8506 I hear ya girl.... don't ya just want to throat punch them?!
@vlagrl29 I'm confused....I thought coffee pots were made of glass...did you mean the floppy lid and stuff? Omg this totally reinforces why I haven't read this book already. Thanks for all the info, we appreciate it!
@dpjennifer glad to hear you had fun in my neck of the woods!
@vlagrl29 definitely take a look at French presses. They're super easy, and it's basically all glass and metal. I started looking at ingredients in all the products I buy a few years ago, and its nearly impossible to avoid everything, but I try to stay away from anything that just says "fragrance" like you said, because that's usually a generic catchall for potentially harmful things (that, and I generally just don't like things that have a lot of smell because I have sensitive skin).
@sprkls8506 I know, I feel the same way. Here we are, concerned about every little thing, and there are so many women who just don't even bother following the standard recommendations for pregnancy care. I work in a hospital, and it drives me crazy when I see pregnant women come through who smoke or do other harmful things, and yet they deliver their babies in the end while I, who was overly cautious with everything after finding out I was pregnant, lost the baby. Life sucks and really isn't fair sometimes.
pumpkinpancake Thank you, I am not in any way a professional baker, but it worked just fine I think. They said it tasted good which is all I was really concerned about. I'm so sick of waiting for AF and I'm only 3 days beyond my normal cycle. I will drive myself crazy with impatience if I'm one of those that doesn't get it back for like 7 weeks.
vlagrl29 You seriously have to try French press coffee. OMG! I am a huge huge huge coffee drinker. Doesn't matter if it's decaf or regular, hot or cold, I love it and cannot live without it. I have to limit myself very restrictively or I'd likely have a cup in my hand at all times. French press is not only delicious if you really like coffee, but it eliminates the contact with plastic entirely since the french press itself is usually made of glass. I have seen a couple metal ones, but I think it creates an odd flavor when used (which can't be good), so I wouldn't use one myself. You should really check it out. It takes a bit longer to get your morning cup, but the taste is worth the wait imo. If you'd like to try the taste to see what it's like prior to actually purchasing the press usually your local coffee shops will have it. I'm not sure if you have a Caribou Coffee where you're at, but they have a great vanilla pressed coffee. MMMmmmmm....
@sprkls8506 I feel like I do EVERYTHING to try to have a baby and I know about soooo many people getting pregnant while addicted to drugs and/or generally not taking care of themselves. When I'm feeling particularly self-destructive I go out in public and look at women with small children and think "she gets a baby," "she has 2 babies," "everyone gets a baby but me."
Ok I'm a big time coffee drinker and you guys are definitely getting me to think about getting a french press. I try pretty hard to avoid plastics in general, but for some reason I never even thought about my coffee maker.
Oh and I have lots of angry thoughts about all the moms who don't even try/don't take care of themselves and get pregnant.
@vlagrl29 they're not particularly expensive. He brand we have at home is Bodum, and you can get them on amazon or at any kitchen store like Sur La Table or even probably like bed bath and beyond. They come in all different sizes too, so you can pick based on how much coffee you want at a time.
I'm sorry I keep coming here to vent, but I don't really know who else to tell. We just went to some friends' son's 2nd birthday party. Well, they announced that they are pregnant. She can't be more than nine weeks, but they also announced their first early. I had to have made some sort of face when she told me, I'm sure. I debated telling her about my mc, but I didn't think it was the appropriate time. This is the one friend I didn't want to have a second baby before me - she's a constant one-upper if that makes sense. And now this sparked DH and I to get in another argument in the car. We are actually meeting his friends for dinner - still not really talking - and he left me in the car crying while he and DS wait for our table with his friends. I don't even know how to act when I walk up to them. My life is so shitty right now.
@GeekBeagle I'm sorry for the rough nite. Announcements are always hard especially when you're there and don't know how to react. I also think guys don't have as difficult a time with announcements. IMO. I hope you had a good dinner. Sending hugs your way.
@GeekBeagle Ugh! The unexpected in-person announcement. That's the worst! At least when I find out via Facebook or text I have time to cry, process, then craft a response. Sorry that you're having such a rough time recently. Grief is tough. Secret grief is infinitely more complicated.
@GeekBeagle I'm sorry for the rough night. Announcements suck. Can't tell ya how many I've seen in the last year on FB alone. I hope you and your dh work things out too.
@GeekBeagle sorry you're feeling shitty. As far as I'm concerned, you're welcome to come here to vent anytime. I also find it super hard to deal with announcements, and trying to hide how you feel isn't easy. Hopefully things will get better for you.
Such is life @sprkls8506 and I noticed a couple at the zoo today as well. I remind myself of the great body I have now and all the cute clothes I can wear and that makes me feel better.

Are french coffee press machines expensive? Where would you get one?
@amberruka cool! I'm in PDX too.
