Doppler question

I borrowed a Doppler from a friend (a fairly cheap one) and she gave me a bottle of ultrasound gel that she got (took) from an undisclosed location .

I really want to hear the baby's heartbeat, so even though it's early, I've been checking with it frequently. Well, I've been going through the gel like crazy, and I really don't want to give it back to her almost empty once I'm done with it. Where do you buy the gel? Or do I even need it to use the Doppler?

I use clear aloe vera gel that I bought at Wal-Mart.

When I researched what to use when you run out of gel this is what it said is the safest for the probe.

That's good to know!  I've been using regular body lotion and it does work, but sounds like aloe vera is better.

If you want to buy some replacement "actual" gel for your friend, they have it on Amazon for under $5...

Thanks ladies! I think I'll just give her whatever I haven't used and start using aloe vera. I already have the clear stuff, thanks for the idea!
