  • Is anyone here currently still nursing? I have friends who have tandem nursed, but that's not necessarily a goal in mind for me. I firmly believe in not pushing weaning I was it's not working for both parties involved, but I'm already wanting him to quit touching me. 17 months... I started feeling like this a couple weeks ago, and now it's making my skin crawl, but I can't bring myself to make him quit before he's ready. Especially if this is something that will pass.
I'm still nursing my 18 month old. Today I had some minor shooting pains for the first time. Could be random but could be a sign of things to come. I don't want to force weaning either but I don't know if tandem nursing is for me. My husband is sure I'll lose my mind if I'm nursing two.
  • Does anyone have any books / blogs etc about pregnancy and newborns, all the basics etc that they recommend? The more I think about the more I realise that there's so much that I don't know haha

@craftyg I can't speak for everyone on here, but I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have!  Do we have a thread where FTM can ask the STM+ questions about all that stuff?  If not, should we start one?
ETA something similar to the Postpartum thread on TTGP?

  • @sandbar517 that's a good idea.
  • @mileswithmyles I've found that herbal tea helps, if you drink tea at all. But otherwise... lying down so that my stomach doesn't stick out as much is the only thing that's really made much of a difference so far

  • Not sure if any STM and TTM's know but I've seen a lot of mixed reviews online about exercising while pregnant. I typically do a HIIT class (similar to Orange Theory or high intensity circuit training) 3-4 times a week for an hour each time. I would like to continue that if possible. I'm thinking I will still go but just slow down a little and maybe do some modifications for box jumps and other jumping related activities. What do you all think?

@justsuzie I was pregnant last year but ended up losing the baby at 20 weeks...so I had a bunch of maternity clothes ready to go but never got to wear most of them. That's one of the milestones I'm really hoping to reach this time! I did start wearing maternity pants pretty early on, and Gap ones were my favorite both for work pants and leggings. Plus side of it taking so long to get pregnant again is that my sister and best friend both had babies in the meantime, so I get all their maternity (and baby) clothes too!

Anything that is very high impact (like the box jumps) should be modified. Also, anything contact (boxing, most team sports, etc) are a no go. Otherwise I would set your heart rate goal a little lower and listen to your body. Any bleeding or cramping at all, stop! I was doing a twice a week kickboxing class and twice a week zumba class for the first 2 months or so of my first pregnancy. Then switched it to just zumba until around 15 weeks. I just got tired and busy after that  ;) Do what you can, as long as you can! It will help with birth and postpartum recovery if you're still in decent shape when baby is due
