@sarabeth5678 we haven't really told anyone yet so I've been mostly going through this alone. Although DH has been amazing - I've needed more support. I don't know what I would do without this group...I have a place to vent when I need to and get constant reminders that I am not alone in this - we are all in it together.
So B6 and Unisom still isn't doing anything for me. Doctor is prescribing me Zofran. This nausea is making me not want to get out of bed. I don't want to drink anything because it makes my nausea worse. I'm still eating, but nothing makes me feel better. Im so miserable. Oh and my acne is horrible too. This is my 3rd pregnancy and my nausea was never this bad (maybe the first one but i don't remember and I wasnt chasing around other kiddos and could lay around all day if needed)
After the dogs went out this morning, I drank my coffee, then fell back asleep for 2 hours O.o fortunately everyone else either stayed asleep or fell back asleep too. I think my coffee is broken though :-P.

@jeb0927 I'm also gagging while brushing my teeth. Once during my last pregnancy I even puked from it. Then I got cavities in my back teeth that I couldn't brush very well for about two months.
This time I invested in a tooth brush for five year olds. I'm not even joking - it has Minions on it. I still gag while brushing, but I'm able to get the smaller head back there long enough so I can at least brush and hopefully not get cavities this time.
@wisewitch222 H actually suggested I take one of our daughter's brushes to try. I probably will. It's just a combo of it all. Stuff in my mouth, brushing, tongue sensitivity. Ugh. It sucks! It definitely went away right away when my daughter was born, so there's that at least.
So with my daughter I had the easiest breeziest pregnancy ever. Number 2 has been... well, not so easy lol. I'm nauseous and headachey all morning until around noon, then I'm good until around 7 and feel like crap all over again. Snacks all day, no big meals. 7w2d I think. We're in this together!
On the topic of dental hygiene in pregnancy, check with your insurance and see if they cover an extra cleaning during pregnancy. Since it can be so hard on teeth, a number of companies have started covering it. *TW* First pregnancy, I was so diligent about flossing. This one, it's like a PGAL brain quirk. I'm not sure when I'll believe it enough to start flossing every single day. Maybe mouth wash would help people who are having a hard time with brushing? Obviously friction is better but in the absence of that, it might help.

Is anyone else feeling extremely weak? Not kidding, every morning when I wake up and grab DD from her room, we head downstairs and I have to sit on the couch and catch my breath, and let my body rest. Like I feel shaky all the time, and don't want to stand for longer than 30 seconds or else my legs and body feel like jello. I spend basically my whole day sitting or laying down. I'm wondering if it's normal. Maybe it's because I've just been so lazy the last month from being sick? My body's just not used to doing anything. And somehow between yesterday morning and this morning I've lost 5 lbs. it took me 2 weeks to lose 5 lbs so far, and now I lost another 5 in 1 day? I'm not even throwing up. Just super sick.
Eta: I've been showering sitting down in the tub. I feel ridiculous

Right there with you. No need to feel ridiculous. I've been sitting so much; I think that's why my hemorrhoids are already acting up.

Are you really dehydrated? I've been feeling like crap and puking a lot, but I've been able to stay hydrated for the most part. The other day I couldn't keep even water down all day and felt like you describe, but I was able to keep some Gatorade down and rehydrate a little and felt better even though I was still nauseous. I'm not trying to freak you out at all, and maybe I'm wrong, but that level of fatigue/weakness sounds like a big indicator of dehydration to me.
@HappyMonkey817 omg hemmorhoids? You poor thing. I'm so sorry you're dealing with that on top of everything
@hullabalou honestly I thought I was. I think I drink between 1.5-2 liters daily but I'll probably try upping it see if I feel better. It's literally 24/7 I feel this way, so I hope I'm not dehydrated, I'd be so afraid that I did some kind of damage to my body being dehydrated so long

She's right about the dental care. My dentist recommended using Crest Pro Health mouthwash as part of my routine. It really has helped with not only taking care of my teeth but that nasty taste constantly in my mouth. I have an extra toothbrush, floss and wash at work to clean up after lunch. Snacking throughout the day like we have been can be detrimental to our oral health. Try to brush at least one extra time per day than what you're used to! The mouthwash is also good for those of you ladies that gag while brushing your teeth.
Hey ladies! I'm late to the conversation but I see a lot on here about dental hygiene. I just wanted to share what a dentist told me a while back with a previous pregnancy ... Be careful not to over brush and don't brush after throwing up! While you have morning sickness your teeth will be extra sensitive but also extra weak (from throwing up / bile) and brushing could actually damage your teeth. So go easy or use mouth wash if you have to do something after vomiting.
6 weeks and 4 days here. Every type of food is disgusting. I am hungry all the times which makes me nauseated but then every food makes me nauseated too. It's a cycle I'm not too happy about. Lots of crackers and ginger ale. Hoping the vitamins are helping keep baby healthy while I'm struggling to keep things down. Tired all the time. Antsy. Grumpy. Oh! And I showed up to an event today that was actually yesterday, so forgetful brain not helping me stay on top of things. And I can't stop burping!
My bloating has really gone down in the last few days, and it seems to be corresponding with my nausea decreasing, too. I want to put a light at the end of the tunnel for anyone (many of you) in the thick of it. Week 9 was really hard on me (and my ability to be a wife, mom, human...etc.). I'm still exhausted and need a nap mid-day, but other things seem to be shifting. The 2nd tri is near!
Another symptom that gets me all curious about what I'm having: my hair is growing super fast. With my DD, I hardly had to shave at the same frequency as usual, and it seemed like hair growth slowed. With my DS, it was the opposite. This time around, my hair is growing so quickly it's crazy. Anyone else have weird wive's tale-like theories? (Disclaimer: with both of my kids, the wives' tales were all over the place, so I just find them interesting to think about rather than a true indication of anything biologically occurring in my body )
I wanted to pop in on the oral hygiene discussion because I'm a dental hygienist
@TheAnalyticalMommy is right about the possible adverse effects of brushing right after vomiting. Try to avoid brushing for an hour. It's ideal to rinse with baking soda and water but just water is fine. The stomach acid that is in your mouth after vomiting is harmful to enamel and brushing right away can spread it around and cause cavities all around the mouth (possibly).
I echo @kiki75 about checking with your dental insurance company, some of them will cover an additional cleaning while you're pregnant. I have had several pregnant women lately as patients that tolerated a cleaning just fine even though they have been struggling with morning sickness. Second trimester is ideal for dental visits - less chance of nausea in the chair and still comfortable laying all the way back (unlike 3rd tri).
I feel you ladies on gagging on the toothbrush - I have a Sonicare electric brush (a true God send) and I brush for as long as I can (the electric brushes do a way better job than a manual). The smaller toothbrush head that was mentioned earlier is also a good idea for trying to reach the back teeth without gagging as much. Flossing is key, especially if you aren't a regular flosser. So much bacteria accumulates in our gums and our mouth is connected to the rest of our body. Bacteria can travel to a fetus - so it's ideal to try to keep your mouth as clean as possible!

@hullabalou I had a hives breakout, too, a few weeks ago. It started on my hands but over the course of a few days spread over most my body...but only at night. I've never had an allergic reaction to anything, so it was the weirdest thing. Anyway, Benadryl helped and it went away after about a week.
Based on some completely unscientific theory my H found on the internet, it's caused by our bodies' reaction to increased testosterone from a male fetus. Can't say I'd ever heard that one before!
@babybluu I've also been sitting during the shower. So funny. Very weak. I try to push through a spin class sometimes and it actually helps with my energy. Seems counterintuitive and it's so hard to muster up to strength and courage, but it helps me to move.
@JBcakes08 I'm a dental hygienist too! I am having such a hard wanting to brush because of the taste/having too many objects in my mouth. A smaller headed toothbrush is for sure the way to go. Also, get some floss picks so that when you floss you don't have to be sticking both hands in your mouth. The last thing I would suggest is try getting a different flavor of toothpaste if mint really bothers you, there's cinnamon, strawberry, bubblegum, etc. And if you absolutely cannot stand to brush one or two (or a few) nights (been there), at least floss, most of the germs that will cause nasty cavities are between your teeth. GL with the brushing/flossing ladies, just do the best you can. It's survival mode 1st trimester.

I can't stand this anymore. I've tried literally everything for this all day sickness. Seabands, ginger, ginger gum, eating small snacks, drinking water, phenergen, unisom and b6, tons of zofran, laying down, sitting up.... I'm running out of things to try. I'm so miserable.
@babybluu what does your doctor say?? That sounds miserable, I'm so sorry. I'm on the all-day sickness train too but not as bad as you it sounds. I hope you find something that helps.
Some people swear by the nausea tea on Amazon, and I also found that citrus hard candies help me get through my hour and a half train rides to and from work.

I had PUPPS with my son, it started right around the time I delivered and lasted a month. It was AWFUL!! And you can't take a lot of Benadryl while breastfeeding so I was just itching all day every day. My hives from yesterday seem to be gone but I was getting some serious anxiety that it was going to be that bad again!! I did read the same thing about male babies causing PUPPS more often.
@babybluu from what I understand from my doc - Zofran doesn't help with nausea... it simply stops the vomiting. Try diclectin. it has been a life saver for me
I had major hives with my son around 8 weeks, too! I would actually love a thread for the fun little non-scientific theories but I def wouldn't start it.
3rd night in a row of very poor sleep last night and I feel like all my symptoms are 100x worse, especially the nausea, and I pretty much cannot function.

The same thing happens to me when I'm underslept. It's the worst.
Re: Symptoms - Week of August 7
@jeb0927 I gag whenever I brush my teeth and I also have gingivitis so it's a bloody gag every night, which is AWESOME.
