    Holy shit. This PIO shot is the most painful one I've ever done. I don't know why it's so different than before. I'm in so much pain and seriously questioning how I'll do this again.  This is  only the first night.  Can I do them all in the left side???
  • Options
    Oof. @leekat14. I'm so sorry.  I'm not looking forward to those, either.  Why would you want to do them all on the same side?  I think switching sides is just to give the other side a break, no other real medical reason than that, to my knowledge.

    Did you ever try the heating pad for 5 min, warm the oil for 1 min, stick (aspirate needle), massage for 1 min, heat for 5 more min routine?

    @BusinessWife My right side still has pain from the last shot back in July...tonight I started on that side and it has been really painful.

    @leekat14. Ouch.  Yeah I remember you mentioning that but I didn't know which side.  I would say go ahead and do the left if that's better for now,  but would definitely mention the pain on the right to your nurse.  She may have some suggestions, bc that does sound to me like more than just a normal IM buttshots friggin suck type of reaction.  I would try to make that clear to them and see what they say...

    Incidentally, I haven't done IVF yet, but my mom's a doctor so I have soaked up an awful lot of basic stuff vicariously. Lol. If you had to give the left bum a break there's also the big chunky quad muscle available (and in easier reach).

    The above screenshot was taken from an IVF website, incidentally.

    This is from a diabetes website, but still, for reference.   Obviously anything you are unsure about, talk to your nurse beforehand. ❤

    This thread is discussing the pros and cons - some doctors don't allow it, some ladies find it hurts way worse, some prefer it... idk.  Not speaking from experience, but just some food for thought too, to run by your doc and see if it gives you another site for your rotation...?

    I will be curious to hear what they advise you!

    @ollieandbaby Welcome, sorry you find yourself here.  Have you looked into CNY fertility for a specialist?

    @BusinessWife <3

    @ollieandbaby BusinessWife is correct.  I had surgery in May that gave me my diagnosis.  The scarring was so bad that my OBGYN wouldn't touch it.  I ended up finding a specialist 6ish hours away and just met with her.  Feel free to PM if you want to chat about it.  There aren't many dealing with it that I've found and it took me forever to find a doctor that had even heard of Asherman's.  Sending you creepy internet stranger hugs as you navigate through this.

    @linzrunz  & @BusinessWife  I'm just seeing this now, still getting used to the site. I found I can see my notifications in my "homepage!" Thank you for your kindness.
    I'm still pretty early in actually addressing what this all means for my fertility. The past year and a bit has been literally about making sure I stayed alive, and returned to functionality.  I'm incredibly frustrated and angry by how much was taken from me, and trying to do every thing I can to get it back, one step at a time... but it is feeling like one step forward two steps back sometimes.   I absolutely appreciate the offer @linzrunz and I will reach out for sure. I really had no idea that this type of thing could even happen, and still learning about my new reality.  I got some bad news today, so I am still processing that, but I will touch base by pm when I am in a better place. Thank you SO much for the offer!
    I am going to try looking CNY like you suggested @BusinessWife That is actually going to be seven minutes from the job I am starting in two weeks, lol. Maybe I can work backwards, and ask them for a suggestion for a good local OBGYN with experience in my issue.
    Edit because words are hard, lol
