Holy shit. This PIO shot is the most painful one I've ever done. I don't know why it's so different than before. I'm in so much pain and seriously questioning how I'll do this again. This is only the first night. Can I do them all in the left side???
Oof. @leekat14. I'm so sorry. I'm not looking forward to those, either. Why would you want to do them all on the same side? I think switching sides is just to give the other side a break, no other real medical reason than that, to my knowledge.
Did you ever try the heating pad for 5 min, warm the oil for 1 min, stick (aspirate needle), massage for 1 min, heat for 5 more min routine?

I would seriously try to rotate. If you do them all on the left your left hip will eventually be so painful. Apply heat after you do the injection. If the shot itself is really painful, you can ask your doctor for a prescription for Synera, which are numbing patches. Make sure when you do the shot (hopefully you're having someone else do it for you), you put no weight on the side you're doing the shot. Otherwise you tense up too much and it makes it more painful. I hope it gets better!

@leekat14. Ouch. Yeah I remember you mentioning that but I didn't know which side. I would say go ahead and do the left if that's better for now, but would definitely mention the pain on the right to your nurse. She may have some suggestions, bc that does sound to me like more than just a normal IM buttshots friggin suck type of reaction. I would try to make that clear to them and see what they say...
Incidentally, I haven't done IVF yet, but my mom's a doctor so I have soaked up an awful lot of basic stuff vicariously. Lol. Diagnosis (If you've been): *TW- child implied* Secondary IF due to scarring from C-section
Cycle/CD: We're working on getting clearance, researching what the IF diagnosis will mean,
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Benched at the moment.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Testing. We're trying to get the scar tissue enough under control that I could carry to term, exploring treatment options, and determining the extent of the damage. I'm really unhappy with my obgyn though, so I am looking to switch.
How are things going? I'm new here, sorry! Just getting the process moving, and it's very slow. I'm super uncomfortable with the IF diagnosis given that we haven't actually tried to make a baby yet. They haven't cleared me to carry yet, not for another few months, but because of the diagnosis of the adhesions and almost definite secondary IF this doctor wanted to make sure they got a few months lead time to get us referrals
Any questions? Knowing I have a diagnosis of secondary IF looming over my head, and I don't like my OBGYN what should I be looking for in a new practice? Any suggestions? This is a whole new world for us, and we've been told by this doctor they really don't want me cleared to TTC until I see a specialist, but I want a second opinion anyway. My trust level with them is not real high. Is anyone in Albany area? *TW*
when I birthed the first time, they are the ones who landed me with a severe untreated infection and all this wonderful scar tissue
*end TW* GTKY: If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life what would it be? Sushi. I mean, even if I get pregnant, I can have the cooked stuff and vegetables! Plus it comes with Miso soup.
I think I did the spoilers right to hide anything that could hurt anyone, let me know if I step on any toes. I am completely heartbroken by the diagnosis, and the extra burden this puts on our planning, and finances, and .. well even knowing if we'll get there. My husband is 40, so we *feel* under a bit of a time crunch...
Welcome @ollieandbaby. And sorry you find yourself here. You are not the only secondary IFer here, and I believe we have some other USNYers here too! (We're in Jersey) One of our dearest @linzrunz is dealing with scar tissue, as well. So you're not alone. Maybe she can help you figure out, from her experience so far, what you want to look for in a specialist. You'll find everyone here really helpful, as much as we can be. I know our situation was different, but I definitely know how important it is to find a surgeon/specialist you trust. Word of mouth and personal recommendations are worth their weight in gold. Do you know what OB your friends have used and like? That way even if they don't specialize in exactly what you need (scarring/Ashermans?) At least it would be an opinion you trust to help steer you in the right direction. I have always checked health grades and other sites like that for reviews and specialities when I'm looking for doctors. That seems to help a bit. Again welcome, and GL!
@ollieandbaby BusinessWife is correct. I had surgery in May that gave me my diagnosis. The scarring was so bad that my OBGYN wouldn't touch it. I ended up finding a specialist 6ish hours away and just met with her. Feel free to PM if you want to chat about it. There aren't many dealing with it that I've found and it took me forever to find a doctor that had even heard of Asherman's. Sending you creepy internet stranger hugs as you navigate through this.

@linzrunz & @BusinessWife I'm just seeing this now, still getting used to the site. I found I can see my notifications in my "homepage!" Thank you for your kindness. I'm still pretty early in actually addressing what this all means for my fertility. The past year and a bit has been literally about making sure I stayed alive, and returned to functionality. I absolutely appreciate the offer @linzrunz and I will reach out for sure. I really had no idea that this type of thing could even happen, and still learning about my new reality. I got some bad news today, so I am still processing that, but I will touch base by pm when I am in a better place. Thank you SO much for the offer!
