Re: TTCAL Week of 7/31

  • 2. Status? Benched. CD 27. I think 6 DPO.

    3. R/R? Back from taking care of my sister after her tonsillectomy. Was nice spending a week at home with family. I also remained the same weight, despite the ice cream we had, so that's awesome!

    4. GTKY:  What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten? Um, let's see... I've had Haggis in Scotland, Kangaroo Lasagna in Australia, and I've also eaten alligator nuggets in Florida.

  • 2. CD 7 WTO
    3.  Had a great weekend. DH and I got a couples massage Saturday and then went to dinner.  Sunday we took DS to zoo.  It was a beautiful afternoon
    4.  I don't think I've eaten anything weird or unusual at least not to my knowledge
  • @dpjennifer I've had kangaroo and alligator too! The latter really tasted like chicken....

    1. Not new. Around cycle 10 after released from a 7 month bench. I'm changing jobs this week and previous/new insurances don't cover further interventions. It is what it is.
    2. CD11. Apparently being away the last 2 weeks I don't have any OPKs, so we'll try something different this cycle----nothing at all. We BD last night (hell, I was away for 2weeeks), but it's gonna be 107-110 here the next few days, oi!
    3. See #2
    4. I was in a village in Tanzania, and all the older men were sharing a cup from a barrel and wanted me to try (helllooo hepatitis!). The inside of the barrel looked like liquid from a yellow highlighter, with a bunch of plants floating in it. I don't remember what it actually tasted like, but knew I would regret it forever if I didn't try!
    Me: 39 DH: 39
CP 1/25/16 4.5 weeks, developed Graves' disease
  • @dpjennifer how was the haggis? It is my dream to go to Scotland some day.

@Mack2342 I need a massage so bad. Hubby is not into them so I think I'll just book a solo!

@amberruka was it some kind of soup or a beverage?

    1. Not new

    2. TWW - 1or 2 DPO

    3. Rave - DH and I actually were able to BD EOD and 3 days in a row around o. This was huge for us. I really hope it works this time. There is really no way we could have more sex than that!

    4. I have had squid, ostrich, and alligator. I will pretty much try anything once.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @MooFish2364 way to go with the BD!! It was a beverage, BTW.
    Me: 39 DH: 39
CP 1/25/16 4.5 weeks, developed Graves' disease
  • 2. CD1, hopefully of first TTC cycle.  We'll see if I have a "normal" period, and if so we're good to go.  Excited about hopefully being off the bench.
    3. Headed to Portland later this week for a few days...between the 110 degree temps forecasted, my obliviously insensitive MIL, and my pregnant (although otherwise great) SIL, I'm just full-on dreading the trip.  I just want it to be over with which is a bummer because usually we look forward to it so much!  @amberruka if you could do something about those temps for me, that'd be great...
    4.  I ate balsamic and beet goat's milk ice cream once.  It was actually delicious, although not in an "eat the whole pint" way.
  • @MooFish2364 my husband was not into massages either but I raved so much about mine and then told him we could do together in same room.  Now he loves them!  Yesterday I mentioned he should get a pedicure and he said look lady you got me to a massage don't push it lol.
  • All you ladies are so daring with your food choices.  I'm plain lol I won't try anything.   I truly could give up food if I could live on dessert
  • 2. benched. 2nd MC last week. Bleeding has stopped but still getting the odd wave of nausea and feeling pretty crappy.
    3. had a nice weekend in the sun but still feeling like nobody really gets what I'm going through. We have a big trip planned next weekend with 12 friends to get away and go biking and I still feel pretty crappy. I just want to curl up in a ball and come back out in 3 months
    4. Probably fermented shark in Iceland. If you eat it right after the shark dies it can kill you as it's very toxic, so it's fermented in the ground for months then dried out for longer and finally you can indulge. It actually doesn't taste too bad but it smells like old kitty litter
  • @dpjennifer So sweet of you to help your sister out after her surgery! And you had to eat ice cream in solidarity with her, right? So those calories were freebies.

@Mack2342 Ooh... couples massages. That sounds like such a good idea and great way to de-stress together. My neck is telling me I need to try to talk DH into that.

@amberruka Good luck with the new job!!! Hopefully the no OPK strategy will work some magic for you!

@MooFish2364 Way to HIO! Hope it did the trick!

@rosemaryandthyme Hoping the coach puts you in the game this cycle and you knock one outta the park! Understand your dreading your trip. I'm on a family vacation now and the day we left I was trying to think of excuses to not come.

    1. New to posting since earlier this month.
    2. TWW CD 27. Cycle 9 TTC, cycle 1 AL.
    3. Rants: On a family vacation and DH doesn't want me to POAS until we get home this weekend. The POAS addiction is real, ya'll! Raves: Letting myself be completely lazy this week, reading, lounging, and complaining to DH that I want to POAS. Lol
    4. I like trying unusual foods when I get a chance. Had cow tongue tacos before that were pretty interesting. I also like trying strange flavored junk food. I try all the limited edition Oreo flavors when they come out and post reviews of the on my Facebook. Most disgusting thing I've ever tasted was when Jones soda had their Thanksgiving Soda packs and had a straight-up green bean flavored soda.  :s:s

  • I'm still just going with the flow so to speak

Rant - that puppy I found on CL last night ended up being a scam so the search still continues.  We were walking around the neighborhood last night and ran into some neighbors that had a toy miniature schnauzer puppy go figure.  Our dog Gabby has never been around a puppy so it was good to see how she would act.  It took her awhile to realize it just wanted to play.

Rave - just 2 weeks and 2 days until school starts and I can get my freedom back :)

I'm not super daring on food so I'll go with calamari haha!

    1. Introduce yourself (if you're new):
So apparently I can't read a calendar and I just posted on last week's check-in....oops. Newbie here. Two kids and two b2b miscarriages between November and July. Working with an RE for secondary IF.

    2. Status?
I think I'm Oing soon/now. I'll take an OPK when I get home. I just finished bleeding/miscarrying on the 22nd and my HCG is back to 0. We're trying naturally this cycle and will start medicated IUIs back up next cycle. Waiting to work out some IVF details with insurance and hopefully that will go through and we can start that in Aug/Sept.

    3. R/R?
I just wrote about it in last week's check-in but my veggie garden is producing like crazy with all the rain we've had so I'm already canning my first round of hot peppers tonight. Yummy!

    4. GTKY:  What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?
Nothing too crazy. Snails and cow stomach. I'll try anything once. Just haven't had the chance to, really!

  • @amberruka well I see you survived neon highlighter liquid!  :)

@MooFish2364 Haggis is great. It tasted just like ground meat, except obviously the texture was a bit different.

    @Mack2342  Mmm... dessert.  :)

@rosemaryandthyme I hope your trip to Portland isn't as bad as you're thinking it will be.  Portland, ME or Portland, OR?

@40momma  Woah... not sure I'd eat fermented shark!  I mean, I will try anything once, but not sure I'd enjoy that one.

@leahcimmichael  TOTALLY!  Ice cream solidarity calories.  :)  And ewww... green bean soda!  Gross.  Did you ever try the pickle flavored pringles?  My sister loves pickles so I got them for our trip at the end of September.

@vlagrl29 LOVE calamari. DH doesn't care for it though so I rarely get to eat it. :(

    2. Status? CD 14 so somewhere around o date?

    3. R/R? Just got back from a week at the ocean and it was amazing. Edd came and went and I didn't dwell too much, but I most certainly don't want to be back. It's going to be 113° tomorrow and 117 thursday.....

    4. GTKY:  What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten? Im with @mack2342 I'm not adventurous with food. I'm far too picky to try weird shit.

@dpjennifer what a nice sister you are! And good job not gaining weight! I gained 4 lbs on my vacation, womp womp

@amberruka good luck with the job switch and I'm glad to hear you survived the yellow highlighter liquid lol

@MooFish2364 woo, you go girl! Hopefully all the sex will do the trick

@rosemaryandthyme fx your trip turns out better than you're expecting

@40momma so many hugs for you. I wish none of us had to go through this pain, let alone more than once. Maybe a distracting trip with friends will be just what you need

@leahcimmichael good luck with not poas!

@vlagrl29 sorry about the puppy scam!

Welcome @tosh24 sorry for your loss

  • 1. Introduce yourself (if you're new):
Not new, but was on a bit of a hiatus. First pregnancy/first MC (April).

    2. Status?
TWW. Approximately 10dpo. BFN this morning. Ovulation was a little later than normal, so AF will be here soon if not pregnant.

    3. R/R?
Might be visiting family in England around October, fingers crossed!

    4. GTKY:  What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?
Nothing crazy. I've tried haggis. Cow's tongue. A reindeer taco that was really delicious.  I also regularly eat a smoked roe (caviar) paste that is hugely popular in Sweden (I'm half Swedish), but not so much in the rest of the world. They have a popular series of very funny commercials asking people all around the world to try it, never with a positive response!

@amberruka You're probably the first non-Swede to tell me they don't hate it! You can find Kalles in IKEA, thankfully! :) My husband is half Japanese so I didn't think it would be gross to him (he eats dried squid tentacles after all!), but he's so repulsed by the idea of it being in a tube, lol!

  • 1. Not new nmc before thanksgiving.
    2. Should be ovulating this week.
    3. Rant: please forgive me if talking about my Living child is frowned upon. We have my dd ifsp meeting (basically an iep meeting for a 2 year old)tomorrow. I always dread seeing on paper the month equivalency that they score her at. Apparently, we are pretty behind on self help skills this time. I also hate to hear what she can't do instead of how amazing she is.
    4. I have had kangaroo, actually ate it during my first pregnancy, it was delicious. I have eaten octopus, alligator, frog legs, cow tongue (German ancestry), and poke. The grossest was poke. Pretty interesting to see what y'all have eaten, too.
@silvergreen where do you get reindeer?
  • @dpjennifer Oregon. And it's so beautiful there and we usually love visiting, but this time I'm very much, "can we just not??".   I tend to pre-castastrophize a lot, so I'm thinking it probably won't be as bad as I think it will be.  Here's hoping! True confessions:  given the legality of it in OR and all, I have seriously considered just trying to figure out how to be just a *tiny bit* stoned the whole trip without my in-laws knowing, lol.  I feel like that'd be more subtle than carrying around a bottle of wine with me, right?  **googles dispensaries in their neighborhood**

@leahcimmichael  As an introvert, I think the last few days before any trip for me are spent thinking of excuses not to go!  Nothing excites introverts more than cancelled plans!

@40momma  I don't know about the fermented shark, but totally jealous that you've visited Iceland!
  • @rosemaryandthyme you can swing a dead cat and hit a dispensary here, hahaha. Just FYI, I think they are still cash only. If you are looking for stealth, you may want to try edibles, like the gummies. Never did anything for me, but DH's aunt can't get enough of them when she's in town.

@40momma I heard of the fermented shark but never got to try it! I did become addicted to Skyr when I was there though. And Extra licorice gum!
    Me: 39 DH: 39
CP 1/25/16 4.5 weeks, developed Graves' disease
  • @amberruka This is going to be me getting through this trip, hahaha:

  • @dpjennifer - awesome at maintaining weight :)

@Mack2342 - couple massages are so awesome

@amberruka - I'm all for trying nothing!  We're you going to do medical intervention?

@MooFish2364 - if I had that much sex my uterus would be so dang sore

@rosemaryandthyme - good luck getting back into TTC

@40momma - totally understandable you feeling like not doing anything.  Shortly after my loss in December  I seriously had zero energy and DH had to take over a lot of the things I did like taking DD to dance class.  I was surprised how low and long my energy didn't come back.

@tosh24 - GL on the natural cycle

@pumpkin0913 - I'm glad you didn't dwell on EDD.  Mine is coming end of august.

@shrl929 - sorry for your loss

    @silvergreen - welcome back

@rklinge0 - sorry about the dreaded meeting with DD.  I'm all about stating positives.

I'm surprised so many of you have extreme heat.  We got a cool front for this week!  Temps in upper 70s and low 80s. Very unusual for this time of year.  When we were on vacation last week the temp was brutal with heat index of 110.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @vlagrl29 oh my lady bits are sore alright. It's even worse because I'm pretty petite and my hubby is definitely blessed down there. There's no way I could even think about BDing today. It's been cold where I live too. I think we're only going to be in the low 70s this weekend. We should be well into the 80s.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @MooFish2364 - I remember we had a few months where it was that much BD. It actually gave me a UTI. Happened twice. I told dh never again that many times.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @rklinge0 I've eaten it twice in Sweden: in a taco at a winter festival in Malmö, and another time I had it served on a bed of salad in cozy restaurant in Stockholm. It's a beautiful tender meat. :)
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @dpjennifer I haven't had pickle flavored Pringles. I have had the dill pickle Lay's chips, though. They aren't bad. It's a similar concept to salt & vinegar.

@rosemaryandthyme Hallelujah!!! I love a good cancelled plan!

@rklinge0 I hope the meeting goes well today. Just remember that the paperwork can't emphasize the progress too much, because they use that to justify services continuing. Hopefully the team is good and they'll tell you about her strengths and progress. As a social worker I would always try to keep my clients from seeing paperwork when I could because I had to write all the negative stuff down to justify services to the state, even if they had been making great progress, and I didn't want to demoralize them.
  • pumpkin0913 Hey, going up 4 lbs. means you had a great vacay!

shri929 How was the chocolate covered cricket? Chocolate covered bugs are sorta creepy to me, but I’d probably try it.

silvergreen Well I doubt the smoked roe (caviar) paste can be any worse than Vegemite. Yuck!

rklinge0 Talking about living children is fine, we just usually TW it here on this board. Sorry about hearing not amazing news about your dd.

@rosemaryandthyme I’m going to Portland, Oregon at the end of next month to visit some friends. If there’s anything I should definitely do/see, let me know! And LMAO to the legality. J Maybe put wine in a flavored water bottle?

  • @vlagrl29 we really weren't planning on any medical intervention, unless my new insurance possibly covers that (unlikely).

@dpjennifer I live in the Portland area, as you probably guessed. When we have visitors we love to take them on a gorgeous ride to the town of Hood River, usually have lunch at Full Sail Brewery there. The freeway follows the gorge and along the way if it's not too busy you can stop at Multnomah Falls, too. The coast/beaches are beautiful but a madhouse this time of year so I generally avoid them in the summertime.

  • @dpjennifer It obviously depends on what types of things you're into, Portland is hoppin' although that also means it has gotten very crowded in the past few years!  Some of my favorite things to do when we're in town are:
The farmers market downtown on Saturdays (on the South Park Blocks) is amazing!  The biggest and best I've ever been to and gets bigger ever year.
Restaurants--omg, there's so many...Andina in the Pearl District is my forever fave.  Expensive but worth it if it's in your budget!  Teote in inner Southeast is fantastic.  Screen Door has a killer breakfast.  Salt & Straw has really interesting and delicious ice cream.  Nong's Khao Man Gai (either food cart or restaurant) is incredible...they literally serve one single dish all day long but it's the most insanely good food (especially the broth).  I really like the big food cart pod on Division near 25th or so?  So many choices and a great environment.  Can you tell my favorite part of Portland is the food, lol?
I love the International Rose Test Garden...it really is spectacular to see so many roses in one place, but it might be a bit wilty be the time you go.  It's free, though, so still worth a look.
I got married in Cathedral Park below the St. Johns Bridge, which is a gorgeous bridge, so we always grab to food and go hang out there, too.
There's so much to see and do, I'm sure you'll have a great trip!

  • Just like the MMC. They said maybe ur wrong with ur dates but I'm pretty sure I'm not so just getting through it. Again.
  • And thank you everyone. It's nice to have support from people who get it.
  • @sprkls8506 So so sorry to hear that. Sending thoughts your way.
