@TravelingCouple ugh I'm sorry about your MIL. This is exactly why we haven't said anything to my in-laws--they would have some judgey comment. Hugs to you, friend. @laurad75 so sorry about your friend.
Sorry I'm so late to the party! Some friends are visiting from NY so I've had a busy week so far.
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained secondary IF
Cycle/CD: 20/5
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Clomid 50mg + Ovidrel + IUI
How are things going? This is our final IUI before making a decision between surgery and IVF so I'm just kind of going through the motions at this point. AF showed up while I was at work on Friday and I had a really hard time trying to hold it together. I'm definitely losing hope. My copy of It Starts With the Egg just showed up in the mail so I'm excited about that.
Any questions? nope.
GTKY: If you were on a deserted island and could only have 3 things what would you bring? The Harry Potter book set, something to start a fire, and tons of water.

Hey everyone, thanks for the commiseration about DH dragging his feet on the SA collection! Happy to report he sucked it up and did his part this morning! One less thing to worry about.
Off-topic: I've been reading all of the GTKY answers and totally scoffing at some of them. "What? A toolbox? That's not one thing. And unlimited sunscreen? The fuck? That's cheating." But like, my deserted island has electricity and wifi, sooooo....
@BertieMeetsGertie so sorry that you are feeling down friend. I think we all have those moments and you are totally allowed to feel like this no matter what anyone else is going through. Hugs to you and I hope you feel better tomorrow. Also GL for the SA next week!
@Sailing_Mama so sorry about the job. I hope this doesn't affect TTC for you and you find something else soon.
@kmalls happy to hear your H did the SA. FX the results are great. And btw a toolbox is totally one thing... just one thing that happens to consist of multiple things .
@leekat14 Your ivf meds can absolutely change your tsh. I'm surprised they put you on meds (I assume levothyroxine?) if you've never had a problem before. What was your tsh now?
@safire3@purplg8r thanks, friends. This process is quite the roller coaster!
@Sailing_Mama WTF?? It sounds like your layoff was completely unexpected. Did they give you any information as to why they did it? I'm so sorry. Love and hugs being sent your way.
Me: 31 DH: 32 Dating since: 11/17/2001 Married: 9/26/2009 TTC: June 2016
Oh my gosh @Sailing_Mama I'm so sorry you were laid off. I've experienced that before when a job closed the program I was working in. It's so surreal and an awful feeling. I'm hoping in a few months you can look back and see an even more amazing opportunity came along. Hugs
@Sailing_Mama I am really sorry to hear about your job situation. I can imagine your shock and confusion about the future and I am sure you are scared but I have no doubt that you will land on your feet. We are here for you. @BertieMeetsGertie I know it is scary getting to this point but I hope you get some answers after the SA and come up with a plan to get you your bio take home baby. Hang in there love!
@Sailing_Mama omg I'm so sorry!!!! Wtf!!! I hope you're doing ok with everything and can land something new soon! Keep us updated, we're all rooting for you
@sailing_mama That stinks! I'm sorry you have to grapple with that amidst all this. If you're seeing a gynecologist who specializes in pcos I think you'll be in good shape to get evaluated and develop a plan. Good luck
@leekat14 Fortunately 3.5 isn't terrible. Just watch out for any side effects from the levothyroxine and make sure you get your bloodwork redrawn in another four weeks max.
@Sailing_Mama. so sorry about the layoff. That is always disconcerting, and especially so with ttc at play as well. We have a lot up in the air right now with the business too, and it feels like the last thing we need right now! Lol so I get it. Fx you find something else straightaway! How soon is it effective? (((Hugs))) you'll get through
AFM - Just WFAF... just two days and two more sleeps till DHs procedure. I wish it were just sleeps! Lol. But anyway, getting showered and dressed and concentrating on work for a few hours today will probably do my heart good. But it's not looking like my testing will line up with dropping off his samples at the lab - I guess there's a chance? I would have to start spotting today, get CD1 Thursday and get CD2 baselines Friday? Or else go back for CD3 Saturday, or CD4 Monday if AF decides to start Saturday.... we'll have to play that part by ear...
@Sailing_Mama oh no! I'm so sorry about your layoff. I hope you're able to find something else soon. Hugs.

@BusinessWife I have never ever heard of the snowflake adoption! What a cool concept. Hopefully a bridge neither of us will have to cross, because in TWO freakin' days you are going to find sperm in there!
@BertieMeetsGertie I'm sorry you feel so little hope right now. I think it's one of the shittiest parts of IF, that questioning whether it will happen for you and knowing it's entirely possible that it won't. But it's also very possible that it will, and I hope the SA results come back quickly and with great news. Hugs to you, friend.
@Sailing_Mama Oh no! It's terrible timing to get a layoff in the middle of TTC. OH was laid off earlier this year and is finally starting a new job on Monday. Thankfully he was able to get unemployment and we have savings. I hope you are able to get benefits and find something soon so that nothing is interrupted. Big hugs to you, friend.
AFM, the BSC only increases with the DPO number. It's 7DPO, and a mild case of reflux has me fighting the urge to Google. Even OH is SS that it might mean something. No, it just means that I had ketchup at one meal and tomato sauce at another, and those things give me reflux sometimes. And it's too early for anything like that!! Stupid SS...

Well, no HSG magic for this gal. Got the official call from my bloodwork this morning. I'll stop progesterone and call on CD1 to set up a meeting with the doctor to go over our game plan for this cycle.

@50Wife ugh, crappy phone call to get. If it helps at all, I recently read that the post-HSG magic can last for 2-3 cycles. So, FX you get a great game plan for next cycle and cash in on a BFP!!!
@Aurora1973 ha, I do my best to hide my SS from my DH because I don't want to get his hopes up.
@BusinessWife I swear trying to line up good timing for BW etc. is the worst. But so excited for YH's procedure!!!
AFM I messaged my RE about some of my IUI vs IVF concerns. Despite his nurse telling me he'd get back to me yesterday, I still haven't heard from him. Sooooooooo...
I talked with the Hereditary Cancer Center (HCC) in Colorado that my sister goes to. To refresh anyone's memory, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 33, and it was discovered that she and my father have the BRCA1 mutation. My sister is just fine - had a bilateral mastectomy and has been healthy ever since, but about 2 years ago I found out that I have the BRCA1 mutation too. Which definitely puts a little more pressure on TTC since I'd rather not have to deal with oncofertility stuff. ANYWAY I spoke with someone at the HCC about concerns I have about fertility meds and the possibility of them having an adverse affect on my health when it comes to my cancer risk (like there's some evidence that clomid increases the risk of ovarian cancer, etc.). I'd also like an educated opinion on the risks/rewards/benefits of proceeding with IUI vs IVF as it relates to my cancer risk. Long story short, the HCC referred me a specific RE who specializes in oncofertility at the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine, and now I have an appointment with this super duper hotshot doctor when I visit Colorado in August.
I'm glad to have this consultation scheduled, but of course it'll be $300 OOP. And, Colorado Center for Rep Medicine is a veryexpensive place to have any IF treatment, so I'm hoping this RE will be ok with me just picking her brain and then moving forward with treatment elsewhere.
@Aurora1973@lund thanks ladies. I took a test last night to somewhat soften the blow since I figured it'd be negative. It helped a little.
@lund that's amazing that you got an appointment! It would be great just to be able to pick her brain and get as much information as possible! I hope it's a super eventful appointment!! I didn't know about all of the cancer stuff in your family, definitely scary but thank god you know about it and can be proactive!
@50Wife Aww, so sorry you didn't get the HSG magic this cycle
@leekat14@safire3@purplg8r@RVAmom315@BertieMeetsGertie@TravelingCouple@saralee797-2@50Wife@adirat@BusinessWife@shortstack930@Aurora1973 Thank you all so much for the support - I took the afternoon to try and process, and the evening to drink to much wine, and am in a much better place this morning. I think the biggest thing was the feeling of being completely blindsided... I've never been through this before. DH is being so supportive - we are thinking of using this opportunity to build a business. Plus, he woke me up this morning telling me I was 'sleeping through sex week', which was a huge relief because I was worried he'd want to put TTC on hold. I'm also trying to look on the bright side - it's summer on the west coast, we can do a road trip back home for my best friend's wedding instead of a weekend in-and-out trip, and we can spend more time developing my body care product line, building our tiny house, and fixing our boat
@lund LOL, when I mentioned it to him, I wasn't even going at it from that angle. I was just complaining, haha. He came up with the SS all on his own! Lord help us!
@Sailing_Mama I love that you're finding the opportunity in an otherwise crappy situation. The new business sounds exciting!!

@sailing_mama Sorry to hear about the job loss! That's a tough thing to go through - especially if you weren't expecting it! I love your attitude about this though - it sounds like there are some great things that can come out of this sucky situation. I'm hoping this leads into an awesome business-building opportunity!
@Sailing_Mama I'm sorry to hear about your job, but I'm happy that you're looking at the opportunities and that your H is supportive! I lost my job earlier this year as well. I'd be lying if I said I was completely blindsided, the place was (is) in rough shape and the writing was kind of on the wall, so I don't know how it is to have to process those feelings, but losing a job in general sucks!
@Sailing_Mama I'm so sorry to hear about your job. That must just mean there is something better for you out there! @50Wife I'm so sorry about that phone call.
AFM last night DH gave my uterus a pep talk and told it to up it's defense and catch that egg. It was so cute and now all I can think about is a baseball game going on in there.
I've had a shitstorm of a week and I'm trying to catch up with everyone. I'll come back and tag later- but I have to just tell @Sailing_Mama way to not let this get you down!! I am constantly amazedby the women in this group that get knocked down and just get right back up. No one here has had an easy road, and you'd expect some negativity or people feeling defeated or resentful- and that's just not the case. You are all such great examples of perserverence. I want to be like you guys when I grow up.
@Sailing_Mama I'm so glad you're feeling better and that this might be a good opportunity for you!
@lund that is so great that you were able to get an appointment with that doctor, I hope they have some good information for you!

@kiwi2628 I don't know if you've been testing out the trigger the entire time but this feels like trying to rub a possible BFP in everyone's face here. If you have been testing it out, you really should have mentioned that and that this line was fainter than what you have been getting.

Woah, yea, no, its the trigger 100%. Not trying to hurt anyone. 7 DPO is too early to have a positive anyway. I would hope you guys know me enough by now to know I wouldn't do something like that...
FWIW I read @kiwi2628 post as the trigger was almost gone. I read it over a few times and I can see how there'd be some confusion with the wording- but it definitely wasn't intentional!
@kiwi2628 well we are all rooting for you that you get a true positive when you test again! I've never heard of anyone getting a positive at 7dpo except for the speshul snowflakes on Glow who also have no idea when they ovulated and think the start of every period is implantation bleeding *insert eye roll here*.
@lund it's awesome that you were able to get that appointment! I would be going in there like
AFM DH and I met with the RE today and I'm feeling pretty hopeful. He gave us odds of a little under 50% per IVF cycle and he is not deterred by DH's sperm count. He may just have to give more than one sample to freeze if the first is not so good. DH also had blood work done today for genetic screening. I'm not doing it because I have had it done through 23andMe so I will give them a copy of that at some point and hope that's good enough (it cost me $200). If we can schedule our initial consult for next week (we have to meet with the nurse and the finance person) then we can even start the process with my next cycle! I will be on birth control pills for 3 weeks before stims so that also gives us some more time to get everything in order.
The only unsettling thing today was that the RE implied that the clomid DH is on may actually be the reason for the decline in his sperm count. He said that it's kind of an 'old fashioned' thing to do and that most RUs don't do that anymore. I was shocked to hear that because I though it was more of a new practice. He wants us to go back to the RU that he recommended (who we didn't like) because he has more confidence in him. Either way DH will stop the clomid because for sure it didn't help. He meets with our RU and has a repeat count tomorrow as well so we will bring this up and see what he says.
Oh no @safire3 this scares me bc *DH* has been taking it and his FSH went up from around 10/11 to 24 or 27 after 3 weeks, I can't remember, to 31 now. :/ So I sure hope it didn't backfire and tomorrow we get nothing!!! :'(
@lund I'm so glad you're being so proactive about your treatment. I'm sorry about the BRCA1 gene, that must've been scary news to hear.
I also interpreted @kiwi2628 OP as testing out the trigger shot. I don't think anyone in this group would dare post anything possibly BFP related as they would receive a lot of shade, rightfully so.
Of course that doesn't negate your feelings @lulu1180, though I don't think it was intentional at all.

Thank you all so much for the support - I took the afternoon to try and process, and the evening to drink to much wine, and am in a much better place this morning.
@Sailing_Mama glad to hear you are feeling a little better.

@Aurora1973. Fx the BSC is all with good reason!!! ;)
@sailing_mama Sorry to hear about the job loss! That's a tough thing to go through - especially if you weren't expecting it! I love your attitude about this though - it sounds like there are some great things that can come out of this sucky situation. I'm hoping this leads into an awesome business-building opportunity!
@50Wife I'm so sorry about that phone call.
AFM last night DH gave my uterus a pep talk and told it to up it's defense and catch that egg. It was so cute and now all I can think about is a baseball game going on in there.
@lund yay for getting in with this RE! I hope he has lots of advice!
@Sailing_Mama I'm so glad you're feeling better and that this might be a good opportunity for you!
@lund that is so great that you were able to get an appointment with that doctor, I hope they have some good information for you!

I took a test today (7 DPO) to see where I am. I had the faiiiiiintest of lines, so now I can take a test on 12 DPO and know its not the trigger if its darker.
ETA: Thats the trigger positive btw, for anyone confused. I did an Ovidrel injection so I am seeing where that line is

ETA I want to TP autocorrect lately
I also interpreted @kiwi2628 OP as testing out the trigger shot. I don't think anyone in this group would dare post anything possibly BFP related as they would receive a lot of shade, rightfully so.
Of course that doesn't negate your feelings @lulu1180, though I don't think it was intentional at all.
