Re: **Ultrasound thread**

  • Lol I'm so used to Canadians on boards being all oh you poor Americans re health care. Im horrified bun this, and I think it shows the flip side of the coin of govt run healthcare. And why, with all the issues we do have, I prefer not to have that system.

And no, it for sure is not free. Nothing in this world is, and certainly not health care. You just pay out the nose on taxes which fund it all. Which is one thing I'd pitch a fit over - you pay for these scans with your own tax dollars, and it is your own personal health information, why on earth does some tech or dr have a right to information on your own body, abd what right does the government have in deciding that??? Omg I'd Be fuming. But I'm sure the culture there is different and I know that is a big reason why it works. I don't think it would fly here.

  • @minyeta what a great shot! My OB was so sweet and said that, since she couldn't get a really good shot, I could come back this week for a 15- min appt to just get a better pic! Hoping for one that looks more like that :)
  • I would be so angry if I didn't get to see my own ultrasound. Even when I had some done on other organs (not pregnancy related) I was allowed to look.

As far as the tech not being allowed to say anything, I actually think that's a good idea. During my last pregnancy I had intense chest pressure and already have a heart problem, so the cardiologist had me get an ultrasound of my heart. The tech said everything was perfectly fine and it was just the baby pushing up. I get a call a few days later from the doctor and I had extra fluid around it and needed to be monitored. I'm not sure if the tech just had no idea what she was looking at or if she lied to me to make me feel better, but either way she was completely wrong. It upset me that she would say everything is perfectly fine when it wasn't.
  • Yaaaay @ladybugsamom and @muggle621 and everyone else! This thread is always the best.

He didn't say and I didn't ask.  I got distracted when he said that honestly, he was relieved that there were *only* 3 because last week he saw other "stuff" that he thought might be sacs.  Just fluid.

I couldn't even imagine how distracted you were!!! I hope that fluid goes away quickly. Congrats, and FX next week for growth and heartbeats!
  • @maureenbioni so happy to see this update!! So glad to hear your rainbow is doing great!!

  • That's great news! Hopefully you can go home and take a nap now. We were in much the same place and once the adrenaline from the stress and then the relief wore off, I was wiped out. So glad to hear it went well.  <3

  • I'm so happy for you @maureenbioni! What a wonderful update!
  • @kiki75 I went home and passed out for two hours! I hadnt slept a wink the night before. I have to go into work which is fine. Now that I know it's okay I have to get to preparing for my final semesters of nursing school. In a strange way even though that pregnancy ended sadly, my grades have never been higher than when I was pregnant! So let someone hope that trend continues.

AGain thanks for all the support here. I hope we can all help each other through this.

ps my weight hasn't changed (I'm monitoring it closely because I'm very short so excessive wg is bad) but my pants are tighter which is really making it real!
  • Had my first u/s . Saw sac and fetal pole but couldn't see heart beat because he said I was very early. He said due date 3/30-to 4/3.  Should I worry that he didn't see heart beat ?
  • @babyequals8 I think the earliest to see a hb is around 6 weeks.

Ok thank you. So  you think the fact that he saw fetal pole was good sign

  • @babyequals8 I'm not an u/s tech so I'm not sure what would be see at that gestation.. I'd ask your Dr about your u/s results.
