@adirat It does, thanks!! He actually gave it to me with the thought that it couldn't hurt in terms of getting KU, but that he didn't really think it would help, either. He's convinced that I won't get KU without IVF because of my age and low AMH. I can see where he comes to that conclusion, except that he's old school and didn't even entertain the discussion of doing anything to improve egg quality. Neither did my RE. So I'm very glad I have my acupuncturist Anyway, I think I will keep using it for LP anyway, and should I get KU, I will have to make the choice. I like your thinking that it's better to MC sooner than later if it's inevitable.
That reminds me, I need to go get my BW done. I am diabetic and need to have my A1C checked, but also I talked my OB into running my AMH again, thinking I wanted to see how much it has improved. But it turns out that I'm totally scared to go do it now because it's been almost a year since the first time, and I'm nervous as hell it not only won't have improved, but will have gotten worse. Since I'm already doing all I can for egg quality, I'm not sure it wouldn't just freak me out. I'm sure I'll eventually bite the bullet and do it, but for now...

AFM I just got a callback from the midwife that my progesterone levels from my 7dpo BW are low so she called in progesterone supplement and I have to take promethium 200mg twice per day. I guess I popped in at a good time with the progesterone convo happening cause I'm unfamiliar as my levels are usually good. I called back but the midwife left the other nurse said I can take it orally or vaginally but was unsure when I should take it till. Anyone have any feedback or suggestions?

@KristoKekerooni Type II. It's very under control with diet and exercise, but I try to keep a good eye on it. It's been a while since I've had it checked, but I've never had one over 5.6. My new(ish) doctor recently asked me how I was diagnosed, and it was because I'm super sensitive to blood sugar swings, and when I finally bought myself a monitor and checked it after eating pasta, I was over 300. But I've never had a fasting over 90, so we did a glucose tolerance test to confirm. So suffice it to say that I'm lucky it didn't get bad before I found it.

@lund - I have not been there, but I have been super interested. I am swaying between that clinic and CNY, because of the costs. I am located in SW Missouri, so that one would be more convenient, but really only slightly, because it's several hours away. If you find anything out, let me know. I have asked that question before with no responses.
I will keep you updated on how my friend's experience goes! She's local to me, and is thus traveling over 1000 miles each way to be treated at this clinic. But, even with travel and lodging costs factored in, the cost of IVF at this clinic is far cheaper than it is locally. FWIW IVF is $14,000-15,000 locally.
@aurora1973 If you take it, just don't abruptly stop. My RE recommended going to a half dose (crinone every other day) at 8 weeks then quitting at 9 or 9+4. And I feel you on the amh. Mine went from 1.7 to 2.9 after lifestyle changes and now I never want to check it again This may interest you -- I was recently reading an IF book from the library that suggested the opposite of your doctor, namely that some ama women will have better luck with regular ttc than with ivf because the body will try to ovulate the best egg each cycle rather than be prompted to generate a ton of eggs ar once. It's a battle of quality per cycle versus total number of cycles left which is very much a personal decision. I think this was in Zev Rosenwaks's book but I can't remember. Anyway the point is that top docs debate this question.
Soooooooo the nationwide shortage of clomid is legit (Duane Reade said they are out in all NYC area stores until at least mid July) and it looks like I will be on letrozole this cycle instead if we can't find a private pharmacy w ho has it. That makes me feel so conflicted. Do I run to the pharmacy to refill my prescription in case this cycle is a bust and I have to do another before IVF or do I leave it for other people?? I feel so bad for people who are going to get burned by this.
@beachbunnyxo123 You could try it orally and see if you're having bad side effects. If you are, then you could switch to vaginally. Sometimes bypassing the digestive system allows you to miss some of the GI side effects. Mine just plain said to take it vaginally so there may be some slight benefit to that but I'm not sure. It's a bit annoying but not terrible to take it vaginally. As for how long to take it, my RE's office says to take it until 14 DPIUI. Exactly two weeks from IUI, I'm to take a home test. If it's positive, I stay on the progesterone until I think week 10. If it's negative, stop it then.

I'm going to have to count how many he has left like - IMMEDIATELY - when I get home. Lol He should be good bc it's only 1/4 pill each day, and he's 28 days away from his procedure!!?!?!! So what is that? 7 pills? I think we should be good... but thanks for the heads up!!! :#
@KristoKekerooni Did your RE give you the chance of the sperm having fragmented DNA if varicoceles are present? DH actually had an ultrasound for them (tw) right after my first loss (end tw) because he was having pain. I know that they found one/some. We didn't pay a lot attention though because his f'ing urologist said "it would not effect TTC."
Sorry I'm just very frustrated right now. It feels like we have to keep doing traditional TTC for a couple more cycles just to get insurance kick in even though we know that DH has this existing thing that from the sound of it significantly reduces our ability to get/stay KU. I know in the grand scheme of things a couple of cycles is nothing and that I'm beyond lucky to live in a state that mandates that IF has to be covered by insurance. I'm just frustrated right now.
Thank you all for all of your great information and sorry for kind of barging in on the IF thread.
Hugs @KariAnn323. It seems like we all have to jump through a bunch of stupid hoops with IF. We are OOP on sperm freezing, and I've written many posts on the frustrations with that. I'm really sorry you're dealing with all that...and it's absolutely reasonable for you to be a bit pissed about it
@adirat Woman, I just want to hug you. You just made me feel so much better about not choosing IVF. My OB said the opposite, that my body won't necessarily choose the right egg each cycle, and that we'd be better off having some to choose from with IVF. Of course, I'd likely be a low responder anyway. I love him honestly, but he's getting close to retirement, and I'm not sure he's kept up with the most recent science. I'm really crossing my fingers that I get AMH results like yours. I've made a lot of changes, so I know I've done some good. But I also know that between 42 and 43, there were likely some changes just due to age. Thanks for the advice on progesterone. I think that's a great way to go, and I'll discuss it with my fertility goddess (acupuncturist...we were jokingly calling her that yesterday and saying that when she finishes school, she'll be Dr Fertility Goddess, LOL).
@beachbunnyxo123 and @kiki75 thanks so much for talking more about the big P. I was wondering if I could take it vaginally. I haven't had any issues with the 200 mg I take each night 4DPO and on, but I was thinking that I read somewhere that the digestive system could interfere with the absorption of it. If you do want to take it orally, my doc said to take it with a snack.

Yeah it was. We countered again but if they say no to our counter, we'll be accepting their offer. I just can't let myself get completely excited until they say yes and we say yes on a number.
@KariAnn323 You aren't hijacking at all. You are welcome here any time (to ask questions or just hang out).
@aurora1974 My husband thinks that these IF books are like the classic quip about economists -- ask 10 economists and get 10 answers. I also read a book that basically said everyone should go to diagnostic ivf with only like four tests being worthwhile. It takes all kinds I suppose But there's no consensus, that's for sure. As you know I'm grappling with the same decision -- should I do ivf when I'm guaranteed to be a poor responder? There are no clear answers.
Sorry for the DD post, but I need to vent - feel free to skip over it... I was finally able to get into my naturopath and get the prescription to kick start my period. Of course, because she recommends bioidentical progesterone instead of the more widely available synthetic, I have to travel across town to get it. Last night my H didn't feel like going, so we didn't go. This morning, he made a big deal about having to go because I didn't have enough time over lunch. I'm just so frustrated - because being at 74 days already, and having at least another 10-21 days ahead of me isn't enough, he wanted me to keep postponing it?
@adirat LOL, yep, I think he's right. It all depends on who you talk to. For me, it came mostly down to money. Because I'd be a poor responder, the meds would really add up. Also, it didn't seem like IVF would increase our odds all that much. But to be truthful, I don't think I could emotionally handle throwing all that money at it while potentially walking away with nothing. Yes, we're spending lots of money on supplements and acupuncture and sperm freezing, but most of what we're doing has health benefits, too. So I don't feel like it's a total waste if we're not successful. KWIM? It's such a personal choice that has so many factors to it. If we had a fat savings account and a paid off house, I might look at it differently. I totally understand what you're going through. Big hugs.

@sailing_mama That blows! Can you leave him at home?
@aurora1973 Yeah, exactly. What scares me the most about ivf when you're guaranteed to be a poor responder is there are so many failure points. You could fail at response, or fail at number of mature eggs retrieved, or fail at fertilization, or fail at day 3 and day 5 reports...then for me, pgd would throw out half our embryos. At least with ttc I only fail once per cycle and can try again immediately. We think about ivf a LOT because I don't know how we could handle losing another fetus to this, but I also don't know how I could handle failing at ivf and being in the same place anyway. I knew you would understand
@adirat The problem is I really need him to go, because they have the WORST hours and after being away from work for three weeks, I can't take an extended lunch to go myself. However, after being pretty blunt that if he didn't get it today, we should just cancel our plans with friends tonight, and possibly not go to our land this weekend because I would be that angry at him... he rallied and after I posted here I got a message that he was going and needed a copy of my ID to get it
@KariAnn323 We did not receive any statistics. If it helps, most subclinical varicoceles can be nothing. Do you know how he was graded? I think it would be best to get a DNAF test done as well as get a second opinion from a urologist on those varicoceles.

@madspunk So glad you liked that taking a break podcast. Some of the things that are said are just really powerful on them.
@KariAnn323 I love It Starts With the Egg. I loved that it was science based. I will recommend that you read it in parts and absorb it and take your time with it. It can feel overwhelming and like everything and all the choices in your life that you have made all ruined your egg quality. Make slow changes to your life. It is empowering to feel like you can change something everyday and it may have a positive impact on your chances. I know @adirat followed this book to the T and her AMH went from low to a normal level.
@WillRunForWine21 Loved that mantra. Sharing with my IRL IF friends. MH is also a Type 1 so I get it. Last night I woke up to him gorging on raisins in bed (we keep food in the nightstand) because his sugar was crazy low.

Here's the fucked up thing. I have extra Clomid that I cannot return (my doc in the same day switched me to letrezole but I already filled the Clomid) it is sitting in my drawer and I plan to donate it. I plan to donate it because wtf else will I do with it? The pharmacy won't take it back. That said I've been on both meds. I personally didn't experience much of a difference exceof that I was told that the goal of Clomid is multiple eggs and on letrezole is only one and that rang true for me.
It doesn't feel real but I'm SO excited!! I'll take pics during the inspection and post them @lulu1180. The listing photos do not do it justice! But some highlights: 4br, master br with two walk in closets, finished basement has surround sound built in already, backyard is big enough for a pool eventually if we want and for DS to play now, it's in a quiet street and small neighborhood. Omg I can't believe this is really happening. It's significantly less than the last house we offered on but more sq ft and more manageable size of a backyard! I'm so excited!
@TravelingCouple, woohoo!!!!!!! I'm so excited for you! It's so great when the right thing comes along just after you missed out on something else.
I've had both good and bad inspectors. Our inspector with this house was super thorough. Our last inspector, not so much - we should've suspected when he spent barely an hour in the house. This time around, he opened windows, filled the bath tub (and tested the jets), he got on the roof, etc. He literally checked every inch. I would say, based on the size of the house, if you're there for less than half a day, it's not long enough. I would also make sure that he/she checks all of the mechanicals (furnace, air, water softener, circuit breaker panel, etc.) and gives you life expectancy ranges, just so that you sort of have an idea. Make sure the circuit breaker panel is not a Federal Pacific panel. They had a class action lawsuit years back because they were causing house fires.
Re: IF/Testing Weekly Check In 6/19
@adirat It does, thanks!! So I'm very glad I have my acupuncturist

Also that gif!

Yikes. I noticed they were being funny about it last couple times I got DHs.... :#
And I got a message from the RE to continue with the Gonal F injections until Monday, and then come back in for blood work and scan on Monday.

@aurora1974 My husband thinks that these IF books are like the classic quip about economists -- ask 10 economists and get 10 answers. I also read a book that basically said everyone should go to diagnostic ivf with only like four tests being worthwhile. It takes all kinds I suppose
Big hugs.

We did not receive any statistics.

I know @adirat
followed this book to the T and her AMH went from low to a normal level.
@WillRunForWine21 Loved that mantra. Sharing with my IRL IF friends. MH is also a Type 1 so I get it. Last night I woke up to him gorging on raisins in bed (we keep food in the nightstand) because his sugar was crazy low.

Homeowners: any tips for an inspection?
That is all I can think of off the top of my head
