Re: Weekly Randoms June 12th

  • Baby is so constipated it's breaking my heart. 3 days now with poops so solid that he screams getting them out and they are huge and hard as a rock and usually have a bit of blood (I guess from trying to get them out).
I just mixed some pear juice into his cereal so here's hoping that works!

hope it works @kristah2 when B didn't go for a while we did apple juice and it would take about 24 hours to work. Hopefully yours works quicker

Taking a day off, ran some errands and found a box of diapers for under $5 woah!  Just finished watching a TV movie and then I'll head to the pool in an hour or two before it gets too hot (it is already 80 at 10am). Really need to organize the baby's room - his drawers are a disaster because he has too many clothes - but we will see if that gets done.
  • @kvruns how much did you give?
  • kvrunskvruns member
    edited June 2017
@kristah2 I think it was no more than 1oz per month of age and I think we did it 2oz at a time.

Edit: we did 1oz at a time, after a feeding. It was 3oz total since it was around 3months though I think both times I only gave it to him twice so just a total of 2oz that day

So much for my day off - daycare called and B has vomitted and had diarrhea (I can't spell that). so that means he gets to come home.  Ugh.  I mean he seemed fine all weekend and this morning.  Just like 2-3 weeks ago when I attempted to use some of my PTO before it runs out July 1 I "lose" it because B is sick.  WHy is it always on my days off
  • @kvruns - how can they tell the difference between vomiting and spitting up? E is constantly spitting up so I feel like I would have no clue. Also, isn't diarrhea a possible side effect of trying new foods? Your daycare seems to overreact! I'm sorry another PTO day is messed up. Hopefully B is good for you and you still enjoy your time with him and away from work. *hugs*

(should I be writing "creepy internet hugs"? I feel like we all know eachother enough that it isn't really creepy anymore!)
  • That sucks @kvruns - for both of you, really. I thought being sent home for  diarrhea was crazy too but then I looked it up and if it happens more than once it could be contagious so they have no choice. Maybe you could both do the pool if he seems okay.

Yea they say twice in a short time is send home since it can be virus. I don't know the difference between spitting up and vomit bc he sure has big spit ups on me at home.

i contemplated taking him to the pool but I figure I shouldnt in case it happens again
  • @kristah2 When S had diarrhea the pedi said give apple to help firm it up. My understanding is BART (banana, apple, rice, toast) diet for diarrhea and for poop feed them the P foods (prunes, plums, and pears).

My neighborhood fb page just said the health dept closed our pool due to low chlorine levels. They have a new pool company this year and people have been complaining at the pool being dirty etc.  guess it is good we didn't try to go back. People are pi$$ed
  • @desoky01 I was literally just thinking the same thing! And I work from home and see him all day everyday and I still miss him at night!
  • @desoky01 same here! I just go in his room and watch him sleep.
  • Me too @desoky01! I miss them even when they are simply sleeping.

  • @kristah2 we traveled with one kid to Ireland and it was an amazing trip. Super kid friendly. The plane ride wasn't bad either. What a fantastic surprise!
  • @camcbeth can I pm you?

OMG my child has way too many clothes. I'm organizing his 6 month stuff he currently wears and it is out of control. Part of it is my fault since I thought he would fly through 0-3 so I exchanged some gifts for 6 month instead and as it turned out he stayed in 0-3 forever. His drawers and closet are overflowing.
I'm in the exact opposite situation. Everyone complains that he's always wearing the same thing because we never have enough clothes.

That was his first 2-3 months he wore the same 6-7 things over and over.
  • Anybody notice that their hair is super oily now?  Prior to pregnancy it would get greasy sometimes but I was able to wash it every other day. During pregnancy, it was drier but now it's looks oily within the same day of washing it. I thought bleaching my hair yesterday would dry it out a little but nope...still oily.

anyone else's LO suddenly dislike the car seat? He used to like it and it was good for a nap usually. Ever since Saturday he hates it and after a few minutes starts screaming and I can't do anything about it. Guessing separation anxiety because he can't see me?

Maybe you have to adjust the straps to the next level up? I know mine wasn't a fan and I adjusted them and she seems better. I think they were pulling on her too much.

Thanks @m6agua just this morning I was wondering when it would be time to adjust again. Might be worth a try if it looks ok to change
  • @kvruns S actually went from hating it and crying an entire car ride to being fairly content.  I just make sure I give her plenty of toys to distract her.  Do you have the mirror?  I think S can still see me when she looks at the head rest mirror.

yep he has a toy, pacifier and there is a mirror. I've always wondered what he can see though. I've waved my hand back there so he knows I'm there. hope it is just a short phase....
  • @kvruns LO checks himself out in the mirror but prefers singing the most on our car rides. He cranes his head to the noise and babbles along. Maybe belt out the ABCs?

  • Not baby related at all.
Anyone else bummed the network put Bachelor in Paradise on hold/cancelled? I loved that show at the end of the summer. Plus that chick was drunk through the whole season of the Bachelor. They even made fun of her asking for champagne all the time.
  • A has always hated the car seat. It's an ongoing joke at daycare because she's always so happy there but as soon as her tush touches the car seat, she starts wailing like she's been shot.

This made me laugh! It's too funny.  ODD would be sitting in the car seat and when the sun even slightly touched her face she would cry like she was melting. DH and I still say, "I'm melting" in a whiny voice when it's too bright out.
  • I am SO SAD about bachelor in paradise. It's mine (and H's) guilty pleasure!
I hated Corrine on the bachelor. She would ruin paradise with her "platinum vagine".

My guy doesn't hate it... but his new thing is to immediately shit himself once we are driving and by the time I get there it's EVERYWHERE.

    @leighry ewwwww
Yup. I start getting mentally prepared now to have to do a major disaster clean if I need to drive anywhere. That and I find myself doing a lot of diaper changes in the trunk of the car. He actually loves being naked in the breeze. So I'm glad one of us enjoys it. I'm also now at the point where if the poop is a big enough mess I just throw the clothes away. Not in the mood to wash that shit out later!
