I'm FINALLY going in for my first ultrasound later today. The anxiety is killing me, I just want to hear a heartbeat and know how far along I really am
I have my first appointment Wednesday (8w2d). Finally! Typically this practice doesnt do the first appointment until 10 weeks but scheduling conflicts got me in sooner. This is so weird to me since my other three were conceived with no reliable lmp (I only had a lmp at all for one) so the obs wanted to see me asap.
i have my first appointment at my OB's office Wednesday, yay! It is the nurse appointment so i won't see the doctor or get to hear the heartbeat - but happy to get to the office and hopefully schedule my NT scan.
@KatieEl and @ryannenikole Yay! I go for the exact same test (and the appointment following) on Wednesday, June 14th. I'm glad to have you two to share the waiting time... I'm not super nervous/anxious yet, but I probably will be once we are in the waiting game! Also glad to know others are using Informaseq.
First appointment today (FINALLY!!!) According to LMP, I am 10 weeks. My OB guidelines state first apt between 10-12 weeks but says an ultrasound will only be performed if fetal heartbeat cannot be found. Is it normal to only have ONE ultrasound during your pregnancy (the 20 week anatomy US)?
@kgtradd I think it's normal, though increasingly less common. I think only doing the one AS US is sorta an "old school" approach. Doing dating US earlier is becoming increasingly more common, but your practice not doing it isn't a problem, unless of course it's a problem for you or you think that using your LMP for dating purposes isn't accurate. I personally prefer to have a dating ultrasound, because I ovulate late and have really long cycles, so if I use my LMP for dating my due date is usually off but almost two weeks, which is a problem if you're trying to go into labor without interventions. (Because they might try to encourage induction before it's really necessary.)
A lot of this goes to personal preferences and what kind of birth you're hoping for, how regular your cycles are, etc. But if you're concerned, I'd definitely talk about it with your Dr. at your appointment today. Doing the one AS US might be their standard mode of care, but if you have a concern they may be more willing to do a dating/early ultrasound. At any rate, I hope your appointment today goes well!

I finally go here! OB consult tomorrow morning where I can pick a doctor and schedule my dating u/s. With DD, they had a portable u/s machine so we could see her and her heartbeat, but this one is at a different clinic so I'm not sure if they'll have it or not. Really just want to see this bean!
Today! Just got done:) Saw Baby Groot movin and a shakin! About to go have the ClariTest blood work done. Dr. said that Ultasounds were safe, I know we had discussed that in a previous thread. Can't remember which one. Measuring right along with where I need to be.
Well my normal appointment is in 2 weeks, but I had a little bit of spotting today, really not much and probably did not warrant a call, but I did. So we're going tomorrow for an US and a provider visit. Yay for seeing the babe but I hate that I'm that person that calls about everything already. Ugh.
I called last Friday and was able to make an appointment for a new Obstetrician's office (wasn't a huge fan of the last one) and they were able to get me in for tomorrow afternoon! So I have a meeting with a certified nurse midwife tomorrow at 2pm and it's just right across town. I'll definitely prefer the 10 minute drive versus the hour plus drive by the time the snow falls! Bonus that it's also our wedding anniversary and we might get to see baby again (it would be the 4th time in just as many weeks, so I might be a bit spoiled at this point).
I'm starting with a new OB (meant to do it a while ago but once we started working with the RE i kept putting it off...lol) so tomorrow i have a phone call with one of the nurses to get all my background info and she will tell/send me some info packets before my first "real" appointment on the 30th...
Didnt hear the heartbeat even. It was just a papsmear and bloodwork appt. Dun dun dun. I was disappointed to say the least. But next week I go for my ultrasound so that was happy news!
Yay! First appointment tomorrow! It will be a dating ultrasound as well as getting blood drawn. A whole 6 vials of blood... ugh. Last pregnancy I had an intern who was not very good and I ended up passing out and they took me to the ER. This time I will be requesting their most experienced tech for everyone's sake.
I just went in for my "8 week" appt which was really 7w 4d - a bit early because I had bleeding + MC last year. We heard the heartbeat! I went in hoping for the best and preparing for the worst and our doctor said everything looks perfect and heartbeat was strong. I am incredibly relieved. That was our last appt with our fertility doctor and now we need to spend the next few days looking for a great OBGYN here.
Appointment went well! We got to see the baby on a handheld u/s machine and I got some bloodwork done. I also have to do a 24hr urine test due to my high BP last pregnancy. Dating scan and genetic testing scheduled for June 30th! I did find out that my practice just switched to the other hospital in town which I'm really bummed about. We absolutely loved the hospital I delivered DD at.
Just thought I'd mention that the appointment went super well yesterday! Got to hear the heartbeat (~170 bpm), had lots of blood drawn, and uterus appears to be around 10 weeks which is right on track. We will go in for an ultrasound and the MaterniT21 test in about two weeks. I think the early ultrasound is normal for this practice, actually, although I was classified as "high risk" due to a history of high blood pressure (controlled well by meds now) and a recent diagnosis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Apt went well. The babe is measuring at 7 weeks 1 day, so 1/29 but they refuse to change my due date from my LMP which dates me at 2/2. So I'm going to move over to the February group. But yeah, the heartbeat is at 134 and they're supposed to be emailing the ultrasound today. I keep starting to refer to the babe as a he, but it's going to be. haha. Thank you all for the positive thoughts.
@supercoolstephy Yay for the good appointment but NO for leaving the January group! Let's be honest, a due date of 2/2 has a 60% chance of being born in January and we all like you

@kgtradd Not sure what is normal, but this ultrasound will be my third since week 6. I think it depends on your physician.
