@bluejeanbabi05 That pants mod is awesome. I need to try it. I can't find maternity pants in my size (yes, even online). I've been rocking the hairtie around the button for a couple of weeks. This looks so much nicer.
@melarowan I'm heading to the store in a sec to get elastic so I can try it out on an old pair of jeans. I will report back! If it works, I think this is a great alternative to the hair tie for the next 2 months until we start getting big enough to where the actual maternity jeans don't fall down.
Pregnant woman of the year over here, friends! I was chatting with a sahm friend of mine today and she said that while I'm on mat leave, I'll have to bring the kids over to play. I was like, kids???
I totally forgot that I'm going to have two. I guess I'm just pregnant for no reason!
@shan24 I often forget that I am pregnant. It's a wonder that this isn't me.

Awkward moment for the day: Just got a pedicure, and a woman who works there was bothered that I didn't ask for her, because she gave me a pedi last time. She told the lady doing my nails (right in front of me), that it was rude that I didn't ask for her, and to not worry about giving me her business card because I won't use it. They both looked at each other and then realized she was saying this in english, so I understood what she was saying, and then apologized and told me she didn't realize she was speaking english. I didn't realize how offensive it was to not go to the same person every time. I responded and told them that every pedi I have had there was great, so I never thought to ask for a specific person. Still awkward though.

@purplestarz I'm bilingual English and French and grew up in a bilingual town. I got a job at a coffee shop one summer and because my first language is English, all of my francophone co-workers assumed I couldn't speak French. They would be nice to my face then talk about me in French right in front of me. I let it go for awhile and then one day struck up a conversation with a customer in French. When the customer left, they were all staring at me open-mouthed. One of them finally said "you speak French?". I just nodded, smiled, and went about my business.
Needless to say, they either stopped talking about me or learned to do it when I wasn't around!
@purplestarz yeah it was rude, I was a bit relieved they weren't talking about my feet though...or my hairy legs. I haven't shaved in a long time, and that could have easily been a hot topic, I would think anyways. #noshavejune

@melarowan holy crap, it actually worked! I'm shocked because I am nowhere near what you'd call a proficient sewer. The stitches look like crap and parts of the white thread are stained with my blood and tears, but you'd want to wear a long shirt anyway to cover the black elastic pockets.
This will work for the next month or so! Hopefully even longer!
Lol @jessirh I just did a test pair of old jeans and only finished them enough to where I'd know whether it worked. Tomorrow or Thursday I'm going to do an actual pair of jeans I would wear, and I'll post that
@bluejeanbabi05 nicely done! I bought a pair from motherhood that have the panels on the side like that and really like them. I just couldn't justify buying more than one. This is a great idea for some of the shorts I can't really fit into anymore!

so....I forgot what the topic was and totally read this as sewer...like, toilet sewer. I was very confused.
Have you sometimes felt that your bump has gotten smaller? I feel like my bump looks smaller than 2 weeks ago...My hubby says no but well he is hardly home to notice properly, I don't feel very tight and about to burst anymore...it's a good as well as a bad thing, good because you are more at ease, comfortable I suppose and bad because you tend to worry, is the baby growing as he should be? Hmmm life of a mother/expectant mother, you can never stop worrying....!
@ShreyaR my guess would be bloat or organs settling in different areas or something. our uterus is just below or at the belly button right now so all that extra stuff is just...stuff. so i wouldnt worry.
Leggings are the best! It's all I've been wearing. Glad you found your way back to these magical pants @carries2018! But agreed, they really do need pockets.
@ShreyaR it can vary a lot at this point. If you haven't pooped in a while, are bloated, how baby is laying, etc. There are some days when I feel like a whale and then I realize he is sitting with his back pushed outwards, so that makes my bump look bigger than when he is sitting sideways.
Heads up Ladies.....Zulily has a sae on Aden & Anais Products. was able to get the burpy bibs 2 packs that are usually $21.00 for $8.00 and $11.00. They were the best with my dd so just ordered some boy colors for my lil man.
+1 to signing up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. We do that for DD and she gets one book a month until she's 5. We hardly eve buy books for her and we now have more than we have storage for. When you add it up, that's 60 books she will receive for free.
Thanks for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library suggestion! I wish I'd known about this for DD sooner. She LOVES to read! I just signed her up and am waiting for "approval" that she's been added.
There are acceptance guidelines. I just had to provide our names, DD's name, her DOB and our home address. It verified that there was a Imagination Library represented in our area. You then get an email with contact info for the local affiliate, in this case, our local school district. It seems like they may verify the address is within the school district lines, maybe?
@soprano19 and @melarowan do you have family that lives in another city? Our city doesn't have it but my parents does. We just signed up with their address.
@OliveOyl2014 both of our families live in the same city as us. But I guess the benefit of that is that our parents are buying lots of books themselves, haha.
We don't have Imagination Library in our area either
For you ladies who are loving the leggings life, what do you wear with them? Dresses? Long shirts? I feel like I could enjoy leggings but I don't know what to wear them with.
@jessirh idk why but I distinguish between leggings and yoga pants/activewear. I don't wear leggings unless I have a shirt or dress long enough to cover my crotch. But I can wear my colorful yoga pants as pants with a regular short tee or tank every day of the week all while daring someone to give me side eyes.
@jessirh I usually wear long shirts/tunics, or a Tshirt with a long cardigan over it if it's not hot out. Sometimes dresses too. I have 3 pairs of maternity leggings from my pregnancy with DD and they have been a lifesaver this time around too.
@jessirh I usually wear long-ish shirts over my leggings. You can use them pretty much like tight jeans, but make sure at least the top of your butt is covered. I'll also sometimes wear them under short dresses if I haven't shaved my legs or need a little extra warmth.
I just started doing the hair band trick a week or two ago, and it worked great at first but now I'm already at the point where that's barely enough stretch. And my normal leggings are starting to get uncomfortable around the belly (plus I worry about stretching them out). Guess I'm going shopping this weekend...
