@bluejeanbabi05 we had a small wall shelf (like one of those picture ledges from ikea- see photo below) for books I DD's room, but also made a space for her books on a shelf in our living room.

@bluejeanbabi05 We're planning to put shelves on the wall for books. It's an awkward amount of wall space between the bedroom door and closet door, so furniture won't fit but shelves will be perfect!
I need more vaccine advice! DH's sister texted me this morning that she hasn't decided anything but will look into vaccines on her own and see if she's willing to break out of her mom's anti-vaxxer brainwashing (obv not her words) so she can come see Sloan right after the birth. Because she reached out to me and not DH, I feel like maybe I should send her some reading materials, but I don't want to seem too aggressive about it because it's not like we're close -- we don't really talk except if I'm around when she calls DH. I feel like I'm walking this weird political line, I want to educate her on how crucial it is to rely on peer-reviewed science rather than those effing ludicrous Mercola articles, but I'm worried that if I push at all she'll get spooked and entrench herself even more fully in her mom's crazy thinking. Any ideas on how I should handle this? I'm terrible at family politics.
we have prob 20-30 books. totes not my thing obviously haha. i keep most of them in their room we have a nightstand with an open shelf on the bottom and then a couple downstairs in their play area.
DD1 watches me like a hawk for skipping pages. and she memorized the words to some so she yells at me if i am wrong. lately ive just told her to start reading them to herself. she can't read obviously but i am pretty sure its good for the imagination or sumshit.
i should really write a parenting book: how to parent as little as possible.
@ariz17 I am always excited when I manage to actually drink the right amount of water too, but you're right, the peeing thing is annoying! I am now a pro at running down the hall to the bathroom during class changes and making it back in 5 minutes.
I love all the book ideas *hearteyes* My parents never read to us and I don't think DH's did either. It's definitely something I want to do with my kids but I was reading a dr. Seuss book recently and they're longer than I thought! Will have to come back to y'all STM and get the scoop on the best books lol
Keep cooking, babies! (Wow, almost skipped the comma there, bad idea.)
Speaking of books, I'm a huge bookworm too so we will have (and already have) a huge collection of children's books. Where are you ladies keeping them? Buying a bookshelf for the nursery? I'm concerned about space btw the crib, changing table, glider and dresser
We got this for DD for Christmas this year and I love it. She has a TON of books and somehow they all fit with room to spare.
Random : southwest has their flights on sale with dates from 8/22-12/13. It's prime no-fly time for us but maybe for those that have family out of town they can catch a flight in to see baby.
Like @beezeemarie we also have IKEA picture ledges we use in DS room for book shelves. For our baby shower, my mom put on the invite to bring your favorite children's book, so we got a lot of great books. Luckily DS loves being read to and looking at books, so we've had a lot of use it of them.
I updated my registry and added a bunch of books that I like to read. Some are for kids, some are ~maybe~ more for me. You're never too young for the Harry Potter series, right?
I mentioned one of our dogs severe anxiety last week, and we bought her a Thunder Shirt, and it has helped a little bit and I think it was worth it! We also spoke with the vet yesterday, and started her on a different med that is temporary, but it gets her so zonked out. I hate all the meds she is on, but it is painful to see her so terrified for hours at a time.

I loooove kids books and can't stop buying them... but I also skip pages and words if there are too many words on a page! And if I don't like a book but one of my girls really loves it I hide it, because I'm a really nice Mom!
In other news, I'm working at a conference where I have to dress up all the time. Every chance I get I come to my hotel room, swap out my clothes for leggings and a maternity top and lay in bed. I think I change my clothes back and forth 5 or 6 times per day!
@TallMomma29 I hide books too! DS wanted the same Curious George book read to him every.single.night. I hid the damn thing! Now it's the same Clifford book even though he has 5 different ones. If books have too many words on one page, I hide them behind other books on the shelves he can't reach. Winning!
@spark88 I am the same way on the weekends! At work I get bored and have nothing better to do than constantly fill up my water bottle, but I am such a slacker with water on the weeks. I usually feel crampy by Sunday night.
Eta: @tallmomma29 I had thought I remembered you saying you weren't feeling well at your conference, but now I think I got you mixed up with someone else, lol. That's why I asked how you're feeling, which probably left you scratching your head.
eta again: I did remember right, whew, wow sometimes I think this baby is making me crazy
I am feeling generally fine but my heart rate is still ridiculous whenever I am standing and talking. Like literally just standing and talking... not doing anything actually strenuous. Still debating going to get checked out but whenever I sit down or lay down I'm fine so I have the feeling I'd waste hours at urgent care for them to just tell me to sit down as much as possible.
@ChocolateIsLife your pup is adorable! i heard the thunder shirt works. glad it is helping.
all of this talk of books has me thinking...DH and i are headed out of town in a couple weeks without DS. its a semi work trip so not exactly a baby moon. but there will be downtime, so i need some book suggestions for me. i havent read a book in FOREVER. i am way overdue. watcha got for me??
@lola4411 thank you! I will definitely recommend it to anyone with pup struggles.
I'm following this for some book recommendations as well. Anyone a Stephen King fan? I'm fixing to start the Dark Tower series.

FFTC: I want my life to be exactly like Instagram LC's. Beautiful flowers, artfully decorated interior spaces, endless beach hair and the occasional pose with an elephant, all images perfectly filtered to match.
my pants struggle continues. this weekend i said F it and brought out the maternity pants. but my bump isnt big/hard enough they just slid right down especially chasing the kids. so i went back to reg pants. the only way they fit is having my stomach hang over them. i look so cute guys. step aside LC instagram.
So in my quest to be Lauren Conrad and maybe even join you overly ambitious bitches in the workout thread, I drank some (very mild and pregnancy-friendly, don't call CPS) pre-workout and got ready to go to the gym. Cute leggings and all. It has now started monsooning again. This rain is really getting in the way of me being my healthiest self.

@ChocolateIsLife AH! I LOVE Stephen King and love the Dark Tower series (I still have a few of them left to read) and I CANNOT wait for the movie coming out. I'm also stoked for the remake of It.

@lola4411 Do you like thrillers? I read "In A Dark, Dark Wood" by Ruth Ware a few months ago and finished it in 2 days, it hooked me.

@jessafishy woohoo to a fellow Stephen King fan!!! When I watched the trailer for Dark Tower it gave me chills. I want to read at least the first few books before the movie comes out, but I'm seeing it in the theater regardless! I hear that they are remaking The Stand as well, but there is so much to the story that I hope they make it into a trilogy of some sort.

@ChocolateIsLife The Stand is actually one I haven't managed to read yet.
And if you like SK I'm sure you know this already but you HAVE to make it through Gunslinger and read Drawing of Three before you give up. Gunslinger is pretty slow.

So I've decided that I'm going to go on a babymoon this summer and look exactly like this the whole time:
This is realistic, right? Because I fully expect every moment to be unicorns, rainbows, slim thighs and perfectly evenly tanned belly.
