I took Lupron my last cycle we were trying with my eggs. It’s super easy. Im hoping the estrogen doesn’t give me too many side effects. It’s only the PIO I’m really freaked out about.

@chitown16- thanks for sharing that about the eggs/sperm! It does help me feel better. Dr. Rodgers seemed pretty sure it was my eggs too.. but its hard to know for sure, especially since I am so "young"- just turned 30 and have been trying since before 28. My reserve isn't that low, so how does one have such bad egg quality at this age? I was definitely in the gray area too on DE... my RE was fine with me trying again but also DE was totally reasonable. It was a really hard decision and we planned to try again until I had cysts for 2-3 months while we were trying to cycle again. I felt like my body was trying to tell me something. Also, having 2 children is really important to me, and the likelihood of that happening (even if I had a miracle baby with my eggs) is very small without donor. So with all that, I feel good about my decisions most days. i don't think i'll feel 100% good until I see that heartbeat inside me. But i agree, its easier in a way, when DE is the only logical choice left. As far as second thoughts about the donor, I feel good about who we picked.. its just more that its not ME, like the other ladies said... I am sure your donor is great, anyone who is selfless enough to do this, has to be a pretty great person
@laurad75- the PIO needle is scary! But just make sure to inject with the SMALLER one. I messed that up the first time since the guage of the smaller one is actually a higher number. For me, its not as bad as it looks. I think the worst part is the oil takes a bit to go in, since its thick, and then its sore the next day. What has helped me the most is warm up the oil first (like in your bra or pocket), rub the area good after, and then heat pad for at least 10-15 mins after. I also have my DH do it, at least right now. I will have to figure it out if he's traveling, but i can just lay there and try to relax while he does it quickly.
@radmom27- I am surprised they would make that mistake and tell you the donor's name! I feel like some donor's wouldn't be happy about that. We did a semi-known contract, so we both have each other's names and emails. I don't plan to bother her ever, and its supposed to be just for medical, but if the child ever needs to reach out some day, at least we can try. It does make it more intimate, I know what you are saying. We wrote her a short thank you card with a spa gift card in it for ER day. I know they get paid anyways, but we really wanted to give her our personal thanks and let her know what this gift means to us. My DH gave it to the nurse, who said they would give it to her.

AFM, my story seems to be a theme of mixed news always.. So part of me is always so happy and so sad.. and I just end up exhausted. Good news first. WE GOT 12 EMBRYOS frozen!!! that is beyond my prayers. 8 were 1AA (highest quality) day 5 and 3 were 2AA day 6 and 1 2BB day 6. They said they are hard graders and picky about what they freeze, so this is truly an amazing result for us. I feel confident we will be able to have the children we want with this amount. However, of course there has to be another delay for me. The saline sono today found a polyp. While I am glad we found this before a failed transfer, I can't believe we have more delay. My RE is sympathetic and is able to get me in for hysterscopy in just 2 weeks, and then she says we can start the stimulated FET right after. They will do an endo scratch while in there too, so hopefully with everything cleaned out, implantation won't be a challenge for us. So this puts us with a mid December transfer, assuming no more delays (which probably isn't a safe assumption anymore haha). hopefully only a week or two behind my DE buddies

OMG @JamieH2000 That's amazing news on your perfect embryos. Oh it makes me so happy and gives me such hope. @JamieH2000 Yes, she starts stims on the 15th. I think they delayed her a little bit to avoid an ER on Thanksgiving which I'm thankful for (see what I did there). I was told ER would likely be anytime between 11/25 - 11/29 then my transfer would be 3-5 days after that.
Does anyone know how they decide if its a 3 or 5 day transfer?

@laurad75- that makes sense about Thanksgiving. Does that mean she can't go home for Thanksgiving then? Because she isn't from your area right? For day 3 vs 5, my clinic does day 3 if you have 4 or less embryos on day 2 and day 5 if there are 5 or more (generally). So for donor, you better have enough to have a day 5!!

@JamieH2000 My guess is that if she needed to travel for Thanksgiving she would have made them black out days. She requested some dates early in Dec instead which I bet is finals. I don't know how far away her family lives but she is likely sticking around for Thanksgiving and going home for Christmas... obviously speculating since I have no clue.

No update on the GC yet but we went ahead and did another FET, got my best lining ever (it was just over a 6!! It’s never been that good!) and TW.......
had my first beta yesterday at 13 days post transfer and it was a really really good number. Just hoping it doubles tomorrow. I’ve had positive betas before but the number has never doubled so extra nervous this week!

You clinic seems great, though. It think it's excellent that they're going to go straight to stims to get your lining right after the polyp is removed. In my experience stims usually work the best and I am confident you'll be transferring soon. You're so close! I'm cheering you on!

Girls who are doing/planning donor cycle, did you or are you doing PGS on the embryos? If it were my own eggs, I would definitely be doing PGS just b/c of my history, but with DE I am on the fence. My clinic is quoting me around $7,000 which is a lot of money; I swear it used to be more like $4,000 (?) What are other people doing?
@jamieh2000 you might appreciate this - during my transfer, we get whoever is on duty at the surgery center so it wasn't my normal RE. He and I realized we both went to Big10 schools (him Indiana). Just after the transfer, with the catheter still in, he goes "On Wisconsin!" I started laughing so hard but guess it was good luck!
@ChiTown16 We are not doing PGS with our donor cycle. Our doctor (who insisted on PGS when we were using my eggs) didn't think it was necessary and I really want the opportunity for a fresh cycle. Plus, the expense of course.

@mtpbadger- Love that story! and of course, ON WISCONSIN! But I have heard that laughing after transfer can help!! @chitown16- my RE did not reco PGS with donor egg either. My donor's last cycle actually did PGS and 7/10 were normal, which is right in line for a 28/29 year old. So there is a chance I could transfer an abnormal, which is one the reason I am still considering transfering 2 embryos... I am honestly sooo torn on that choice. I want it to work SO bad, but I know the risks with twins and ideally, i would have two children seperately so I can experience everything twice. However, my patience is gone after the last 2 years of all this....

@ChiTown16 I am doing PGS with my donor cycle. In the end of the day, if this fails, I just want to know that I had some PGS normal embryos that were transferred and I can let this go. I also figure that if I'm spending the astronomical amount that I already am, then another 3000-4000 is worth it. I think that most people do not do PGS testing and since our donors are so young, that it's fine to do either. This is my last shot and I wanted to go out without any lingering doubts.

They made me have a baseline today before I could start the pill (again- I seriously thought I was done with BC!). Now I am on the pill until my hysterscopy next Tuesday. Anxious that I won't be able to get a light period after only 8 days of BC.. but hopefully things will work out and I will have another baseline in less than 2 weeks and then can start stimming by Thanksgiving... Never thought I would be stimming again either....

@JamieH2000 I know, every time I think I'm done with bcp I'm on them again. I took my last one on Friday and now I'm waiting to start my period so I can start estrogen. @laurad75- I think things start to go really quick once the donor starts stimming, at least it did for me. I think my waiting is the worst when I am just waitttinggg to get started again. When is your first lining check? The estrogen made me feel super sick, but its not supposed to... so hopefully you feel good when you are on it!

I got my period last night so I'm calling my nurse this morning and I think she will tell me to start taking the estrogen tonight (I take 1 pill in am, 1 in pm and a new patch every 72 hours). My first lining check will be "7-9" days from today but maybe she will schedule that today. I'm so anxious and distracted now that we are this close. I just need to get through this week and next and then Thanksgiving week will go by really quickly.

@laurad75- it will definitely go fast once you start the meds!! I started the pill again yesterday and will have my polyp removed next Tuesday. Then I will stop my pill, somehow get a light period after only 8ish days of BC and then baseline and start stims. So if this all works, I will start stims shortly before thanksgiving and have a transfer about 2 weeks after.. so maybe like 12/8ish? Idk, I wish it wasn’t so up in the air, but hopefully it all works out ok...

My donor starts stims on Wednesday and I will go in for a lining check on Wed. We are still on track for ER right after Thanksgiving. I've been thinking about a small gift for my donor and I think I'm going give her a Christmas ornament (photo below) along with a card. It will take me forever to draft up what ever I put in the card but I think its important that I get to thank her in my own words. Thoughts?

@laurad75- I ended up getting my donor a spa gift card from Costco. I know we already pay them, but thought it would be nice to give them a little something they would hopefully appreciate. I also wrote a short note in the card. Something like.. No words or gift cards could ever express our gratitude. Your gift has given us hope we will one day have the family we have been trying so hard for. We hope your recovery will be smooth and easy. We can't thank you enough... or something like that. It was only 4-5 sentences, but I really wanted to provide personalized thank you from us. I think the ornament is very cute, the only thing would be is what if she doesn't celebrate Christmas (or maybe you know she is Christian from her profile). I really think its the though that counts!

@JamieH2000 Thank you for sharing what you wrote, that's helpful. I do know that she celebrates Christmas and in her questionnaire she commented how much she and her Dad like to decorate together. I went with a different ornament (this one) because the original said something like 'thanks for all you do' which sounds like a gift I would get my dog walker. This is more like 'thanks for literally changing my life'.

I took Lupron my last cycle we were trying with my eggs. It’s super easy. Im hoping the estrogen doesn’t give me too many side effects. It’s only the PIO I’m really freaked out about.

@laurad75- the PIO needle is scary! But just make sure to inject with the SMALLER one. I messed that up the first time since the guage of the smaller one is actually a higher number. For me, its not as bad as it looks. I think the worst part is the oil takes a bit to go in, since its thick, and then its sore the next day. What has helped me the most is warm up the oil first (like in your bra or pocket), rub the area good after, and then heat pad for at least 10-15 mins after. I also have my DH do it, at least right now. I will have to figure it out if he's traveling, but i can just lay there and try to relax while he does it quickly.
@radmom27- I am surprised they would make that mistake and tell you the donor's name! I feel like some donor's wouldn't be happy about that. We did a semi-known contract, so we both have each other's names and emails. I don't plan to bother her ever, and its supposed to be just for medical, but if the child ever needs to reach out some day, at least we can try. It does make it more intimate, I know what you are saying. We wrote her a short thank you card with a spa gift card in it for ER day. I know they get paid anyways, but we really wanted to give her our personal thanks and let her know what this gift means to us. My DH gave it to the nurse, who said they would give it to her.

However, of course there has to be another delay for me. The saline sono today found a polyp. While I am glad we found this before a failed transfer, I can't believe we have more delay. My RE is sympathetic and is able to get me in for hysterscopy in just 2 weeks, and then she says we can start the stimulated FET right after. They will do an endo scratch while in there too, so hopefully with everything cleaned out, implantation won't be a challenge for us. So this puts us with a mid December transfer, assuming no more delays (which probably isn't a safe assumption anymore haha). hopefully only a week or two behind my DE buddies

@JamieH2000 that is amazing - 12 embryos! I am so excited for you. I completely understand how frustrating the delay is; you've had such a difficult road and I', so impressed with your attitude. You clinic seems great, though. It think it's excellent that they're going to go straight to stims to get your lining right after the polyp is removed. In my experience stims usually work the best and I am confident you'll be transferring soon. You're so close! I'm cheering you on!

Girls who are doing/planning donor cycle, did you or are you doing PGS on the embryos? If it were my own eggs, I would definitely be doing PGS just b/c of my history, but with DE I am on the fence. My clinic is quoting me around $7,000 which is a lot of money; I swear it used to be more like $4,000 (?) What are other people doing?
@jamieh2000 you might appreciate this - during my transfer, we get whoever is on duty at the surgery center so it wasn't my normal RE. He and I realized we both went to Big10 schools (him Indiana). Just after the transfer, with the catheter still in, he goes "On Wisconsin!" I started laughing so hard but guess it was good luck!

@ChiTown16 We are not doing PGS with our donor cycle. Our doctor (who insisted on PGS when we were using my eggs) didn't think it was necessary and I really want the opportunity for a fresh cycle. Plus, the expense of course.

@chitown16- my RE did not reco PGS with donor egg either. My donor's last cycle actually did PGS and 7/10 were normal, which is right in line for a 28/29 year old. So there is a chance I could transfer an abnormal, which is one the reason I am still considering transfering 2 embryos... I am honestly sooo torn on that choice. I want it to work SO bad, but I know the risks with twins and ideally, i would have two children seperately so I can experience everything twice. However, my patience is gone after the last 2 years of all this....

They made me have a baseline today before I could start the pill (again- I seriously thought I was done with BC!). Now I am on the pill until my hysterscopy next Tuesday. Anxious that I won't be able to get a light period after only 8 days of BC.. but hopefully things will work out and I will have another baseline in less than 2 weeks and then can start stimming by Thanksgiving... Never thought I would be stimming again either....

My donor starts stims on Wednesday and I will go in for a lining check on Wed. We are still on track for ER right after Thanksgiving. I've been thinking about a small gift for my donor and I think I'm going give her a Christmas ornament (photo below) along with a card. It will take me forever to draft up what ever I put in the card but I think its important that I get to thank her in my own words. Thoughts?

AFM- I have my hysterscopy tomorrow to remove the polyp. I am just looking forward to getting it over with, and hopefully getting a withdrawal bleed by this weekend and baseline next week. I am really not sure how this will all go the next few weeks, so trying not to get my expectations/hopes up too much that it will all work out.
