Starting this for selfish reasons, because that's just who I am.
I have to leave this afternoon for my sales conference in Chicago (rah rah rah!) which will consist of back to back meetings learning about such scintillating topics as wall thermostats, refrigeration controls and fire alarms.
Broken up by tomorrow evening's "team competition" one of the teams of which I was somehow appointed the leader. I'm not sure what the competition will entail but we will be looking spiffy in our matching green shirts and custom visors.
Someone put me out of my misery.
Eta: and because I'm a "veteran" sales team member, I have to set an example during meetings and not be on my phone, so I can't even Bump.
i made H drive an hour round trip to get me a cheesecake from CF yesterday. sweet of him i know. BUT he got a 7" instead of a 10"...7" is a cake for ants. but still whatever surely 7" cake will be enough for me. yea. me. not DD1 who apparently has an affinity for cheesecake, and not for H who "would like a slice" BACK OFF HOS! THIS CAKE IS MINE! YOU WANT TO SHARE GET ME A 10"!!!!!!!!!!
Also, @pizzamonster3, the visors are because "points will be awarded for matching team uniforms" and nothing quite says #teamspirit like abusing our corporate cards.
@bluejeanbabi05 Im in Dallas. I don't remember the last time I was in a visor. My team and I had to match for an event last year and we got bright orange sunglasses to go with our* white polos and khakis. We accented with orange koozie covered beers too haha
Edit because going "with out" was a totally different type of function lmao
My mom is being a B. I called her yesterday for mother's day and mentioned that the girls miss her and want to see her and she said "it is what it is". In other words, she wont even try to see them because she's "too busy." But she can bitch about how they like DHs psrents better. Well....yeah...they actually get to...you know...see them.
DH had a 102 fever all weekend and we went to urgent care on Saturday because it wasn't breaking. It finally broke Sunday morning and he's feeling better. It was a classic man cold though and he didn't really get out of bed all weekend, which left me taking care of everything. I don't blame him for it at all but it does make this Monday extra terrible because I feel like I didn't get a weekend...
@carries2018 Haha yup!!! I made fun of him for like a day and a half and then he took his temperature and it was 102.6 and I felt kind of bad, but seriously you would've thought the man was dying by his reactions.
I don't want to be at work. All of my rage is directed at work because it sucks.
We're investigating a big case somewhere right now with a few other firms and it's making my life miserable. No one is on the same page, reporters keep calling us, etc etc. Just very annoyed right now.
Coworkers can't follow instructions relating to notary and I am done being nice about it, other coworker is being a big jerk for no apparent reason and frankly, Idc. He's not going to last anyway, no one ever does in that department.
Lastly, everyone else's work drama and emotions are running high including my own and my work is falling behind. I need to catch up so desperately. Someone hold me.
@carries2018 that's absurd. Everyone knows you go big with cheesecake, especially CF! Nice of you let DH live.
@migdala oh the dreaded man cold. I'm sorry you didn't get a good break this weekend!
DH guilted his parents enough about missing DD's recital this Friday that they're now coming. This means they will be at my house around noon-1:00. Which means I have to put up with them by myself for 3-4 hours before DD has to be at the performance place for dress rehearsal (and probably means DD won't get a nap because she will be too excited grandma and grandpa are here). I then have to drop her off, return home until DH gets home from work and then head back for the actual recital. That's another hour+ totally alone with them. Someone may get a verbal lashing if they don't keep their crazy to themselves ... and it won't be me!
I'm quite sure that LO has been moving now (not the B**fest, cuz that's awesome) however, I've totally lied to my MIL about it because 1) I don't really want her touching me all the time 2) I want the moment mostly to myself and DH for a while.
So yesterday, she grabs my gut while I'm minding my own business and asks me why the LO isn't moving yet. So I just politely tell her it's not expected for quite some time. Well, she proceeds to tell me "Obviously your incubator is BROKEN and no good, I felt my son immediately after!"...uh huh. Sure ya did, and I bet you also saw pigs fly.
@VLillyV ugh, I hear you on family invading personal space. Not cool.
BIL was complaining that his sister (also pregnant and due late July) didn't tell him about the sex of her child until 5 months in. I'm like...uh, that's generally when they find out the sex. And then he goes on to insist that he be the first to find out what we'll be having.

So apparently, I am a broken incubator.
Reading this made me want to smack someone I have never met. How rude of her! Why is it such a difficult concept to grasp that no body is the same? How did you react? I always think of great comebacks or responses like a week after stewing about it.

@ChocolateIsLife same. I can't come up with any comebacks, especially not on the spot. What's more astonishing is that she brags all the time about how her own MIL would ASK before touching. Ugh. It's pretty annoying but I am still at a loss of what to say. I've been avoiding her as much as possible. DH simply told her that the baby won't kick for several more weeks.
I have a family member (IL) that keeps telling me that she hopes our baby has blonde hair and blue eyes. Every time she says it I respond telling her that I am just hoping for a healthy baby (generic response I know). I think its fun to make guesses on what she will look like (I have brown hair, brown eyes and DH has blue eyes, dirty blonde hair), but it just rubs me the wrong way when someone lays out expectations of what they hope our baby looks like. Will you be disappointed if she looks like me?

My issue is with others' opinions - it makes me not want to share. I caught up with a girlfriend on the weekend and told her how I'd recently visited a friend who has a newborn. She asked what the baby's name was (which is super cute, btw) and she responded like "ugh, I don't like that name. It's too old." And then, when she asked what names DH and I were considering, I made the mistake of sharing that with her too. Her response: "I know a woman whose dog is named that and if you knew that dog, you would not name your child that."
Ummm okay thanks but since when do you get an opinion on what other people name their children?
@bluejeanbabi05 I'm one of those purchasers who does all the buying for companies that you probably deal with. I just got our email this morning about our meeting next month. Joy! It included dinner and activity on Wednesday evening. Major eye roll! Have fun!
My BF is that the roof in my office (3 sets off offices outside of our main office building) has been leaking for some time. It's been dripping the last few weeks from all the rain we have. We now have black mold in the ceiling which is causing daily headaches and who knows what ever else. It's so bad today but as soon as I walk out of my office it instantly eases. I just told our Environmental and Safety guy about this so fingers crossed they actually do something. I'm seriously fixing to be asked to move until this is resolved.
I went to Starbucks this morning and ordered a decaf vanilla latte. I drove all the way home took a sip and thought something was off. I checked the label and it was a triple shot latte! Thank god I didn't drink the whole thing! I went back and told the kid working I was pregnant and can't do a triple, because that could be dangerous for a pregnant person. He made no comment towards it. Ugh, hello??? They switched my drink, but I feel like that should have been of concern to them. Maybe I'm just having sensitivity hormones. Sigh.

well i mean he was a kid, they often don't know how to react in situations like that. honest mistake i am sure. glad you caught it and got another one.
My BF is about our midyear reviews. So, our yearly reviews are done in December and at that time a girl on our team got a promotion to team lead. However, like a week later she goes on maternity leave and then I am expected to be the "stand in" team lead while she is gone...kind of annoying. She just returned in April and now i'm informed that she is doing my midyear review instead of my boss.... Shes been back for a month! how is she supposed to review me????
I do really like her and we get along great don't get me wrong, but i'm annoyed and I did an awesome job while she was gone. Everyone said I did great, but all I really got was a pat on the back. Not to mention while she was gone we have never been so busy and the other person on our team was hired a few months prior with no experience, so I had to do the majority of the work.
Also, she plans to have another kid again like right away, which is fine, but I'm going to have to be the "stand in" team lead again without any monetary compensation or title change?
And believe me she totally deserved the maternity leave obviously.. I'm looking forward to mine. The lines of communication are confusing in this company!
Ugh on the topic of man colds... DH found a tick on his head on Friday. We live in the city, so idk where the f it could have possibly come from. I'm so paranoid about Lyme disease. I told him if he gets it he's going to have to move in with his parents, because I don't have time to take care of him, a toddler, and a newborn.

Update, I got moved!!! Now I feel like the office pest! But whateves, they've had replacing the roof on the budget for a while now. I'm hoping this is the catalyst to finally getting it fixed. So it's leaked the whole 5 year's I've been back there. Our managers here don't think it's mold, but you can't tell me a leaky roof for that long isn't producing mold!?
We are out of mineral water and I can't drink straight up tap water at the moment, not as appealing. I love the carbonation and slight flavor of it. I'm too lazy to go to the store down the street to pick some up.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
Currently I am just mad at my own body for giving up on me. In the last 7 days, I've gotten a viral infection with fever and all, thanks toddler. Started dealing with full on puking, thanks to Makena injections. And yesterday, lovely Mother's Day, I woke up to freaking pink eye. So yeah, I'm just mad at myself I guess. I don't even know.
Ugh @dajocl that stinks! Take some time for yourself if you can. Sometimes our bodies "make" us slow down for our own good. I hope you feel better sooner than later!
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@mrs_fogue I'm glad they moved you! that's a serious health risk and you shouldn't feel bad about asking for accommodation.
@keiraanne my MIL said similar things to my SIL about her baby name choices, so we decided we aren't sharing with anyone IRL until the baby is born. It's sad I feel more comfortable discussing with strangers on the internet, but I'd rather not know if our friends/family hate our baby's name.
My BF: we had another org announcement today (the 3rd in as many weeks) and i still don't know WTF is going on with my job. Guess that means plenty of time for bumping since I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to be doing...
Dh came home from work complaining of a headache and body aches all over. My first thought is influenza, although this happens to him at least once or twice a year and he turns out to be fine the next day. He better feel fine in the morning because our A/S is first thing tomorrow morning and I'd hate so much for him to miss it. Not to mention, I'm a massive germaphobe and I get horrible anxiety over every surface in our house when someone is sick
@ChocolateisLife I had the same thing with my MIL about wanting a blue eyed baby but it didn't bother me. I did have to explain to her that due to my genetics of brown eyes that goes way back, the chance of a blue eye grandson for her was basically 0%.
@sjohns908 douse him in Purell and make him suck it up. i would not let my DH miss the A/S!
My bitch is DH making a fuss like a child over his 35th birthday. IT IS NOT A MILESTONE BIRTHDAY.
Oh no @sjohns908 I hope he's not getting sick for your sake! My Dh is getting over something too. He's had this headache, scratchy and sore throat , and nasty cough for like 3 days. Needless to say it's delaying our sexy time because this momma doesn't do pregnancy sick. He's like " but it's just a cold" and I'm al like "it's the plague".
@buttercream_frosting 35 is definitely not a milestone. Meanwhile, I'm reminded I should get started on planning DH's 30th since I'm now only two months away as for dh, I'm not letting him miss it. I told him he can wear a mask and not touch anything
@canonmom413 he just took his temp and it's 102. Uuuugh I'm so sick of him getting sick so often. Incredibly ironic since he works out and eats healthy and gets sick easily 2-3x more than I do.
I wouldn't have sexy time either. The whole "not being able to take cold meds while pregnant" thing makes my germ anxiety even worse for sure.
Ugh...DH blew up the A/C unit. The fuse blew and when he replaced it, the A/C made a few loud bangs and a little smoke came out of the unit (I was in the bedroom and the unit is right outside the window). It's gonna be 90+ by the end of the week.
I really hope it's fixable or else we're gonna have to replace the entire unit. I'm trying to stay positive, but the fact that there was smoke and the unit is ancient is making it hard.
