@amesie13 we get them this time of year too. Sometimes I can't tell if they're fruit flies or drain flies. They both look the same and are common around the same time. I've tried all tricks. The one that works best for me is wine , dawn, and a tight plastic covering with holes. But even that's not super effective.
MIL is being super petty right now. My mom suggested that they set up a "Grandparent's Fund" for the kid, to help with college costs or a down payment on a home when the kid gets to adulthood, which is awesome. MIL says (1) she needs to know how much others contribute, because she doesn't want to be "outdone" so there needs to be a set monthly limit (why would you limit how much someone else wants to donate?? Our families aren't rich, we're talking like $25 a paycheck, so what if someone wants to throw an extra $20 in every now and then), (2) she needs to be on the account along with me and DH (which will probably help from an administrative aspect, but I know she wants to because she's a control freak), and the kicker (3) she doesn't want DH's dad (her ex-husband, they divorced 30 years ago) or his wife to be able to give to it. She wants it to be the "Grandmother's Fund" instead. I'm going to point out that my step-MIL will be the baby's grandmother too (and she's an excellent grandma to her other step-grandkid).
I really appreciate the gift, but I don't appreciate the pettiness.
Felt good to get that out! I have to shield DH from most of his MIL's antics, because they have a rocky relationship and I don't want to make it worse, so I don't usually even bother telling him when she gets like this.
I'm mad everyone has decided to be active here on a day when I had a bunch of stuff I was going to do. And because there's still 20 minutes until OG opens and I'm hungry noooooow

I've already eaten all my stuffed mushrooms and am two bites away from finishing my ravioli.
Next up - 2 breadsticks and the soup!

For breakfast I had 2 mini bagels with cream cheese, with a side of chocolate chip cookies DD and I made yesterday. No regrets.
I'm jealous you ladies are on to lunch! I'm hoping my parents take us out to lunch today since we're heading there in a couple hours to hang out. Not sure what I'm craving yet but I'm sure you mamaz will help push me in the right direction.
Reading about food that doesnt even exist in my country is terrrrrrible for my pregnant food over loving self lolz I get cravings i cant evem satisfy because of you mamaz. (second food related bfest of the day lol)
@tsa208 my SIL had similar drama over the college fund my FIL set up for her son. It was just him contributing, but he would find a way to mention it every conversation and hold it over her head. And they have a rocky relationship anyway. She finally just blocked their contributions without even telling them, lol. A year ago, and she still isn't sure if he knows yet
My mother is driving me nuts right now. She's bugging me on when we will find out the sexes. Then told me we better not leave them hanging for a month to tell them. Then told me parents need to know first. Then said to FaceTime while we are there with a JK afterwards. Duh, we plan on telling family first what we are having.
People are annoying. They act like this is their pregnancy and their child.
My husband's stepmom seemed shocked and upset I said we wouldn't announce the names until after they were born. We did the same thing with our son.
Everyone in my office is out right now, I'm all alone. I can't leave because someone has to be here to take calls and guard the place, I guess. Also, our assistants are supposed to coordinate their schedules so that this doesn't happen, because apparently my time is too valuable for me to waste my time picking up the phone (per my boss - I really could care less). I'm so f'ing hungry and I just want to go get lunch. Ugh.

Uuuuugh! Not only was I a half hour late picking up my OG order, because threenager and stupid traffic, but they gave me the wrong soup! I don't like any of the soups except the gnocci, which I'm obsessed with, and they gave me zuppa. With gnocci even written on the bag it's in
My bitchfest - will someone please tell this darling little leech growing inside me that we are in the second trimester now. It's time for nausea to end and the boundless energy to start - I read all the books and blogs to baby that say this but little one is just not taking the hint.
Oh and whoever decided that on top of the continued nausea and vomiting that I also needed to get a cold, thanks a bunch...you have an awesome sense of humor.
@curlyq423 same thing is happening here! We're now leaning towards staying team green because my mother will. not. stop. asking when we are finding out.
I'm so angry. I took DH's car to get the inside and outside cleaned because my dad will be driving it while we are out of town next week. They did such a crappy job and I paid $35. There's still food crumbs in the console and even old bird crap on the outside. I didn't notice until I got home and I'm too lazy/don't really have time to drive back there. GRRR. Never going there again. Plus when I got home I noticed a crack on the door on the inside. I'm not sure if it's new so I texted DH to ask (I drive his car like twice a year so I really have no idea). If it is new then I'm definitely going to have to go back.
Then I went grocery shopping and I had a $2 off coupon. I gave it to the lady but now I don't see it on my receipt. No big deal but...I'd like my 2 bucks please.
I seriously don't know why I even bother trying to take time off. I left work at 2:30 and in the span of an hour, my email blew up with stuff. My back up took a "mental health day" today so guess who's sitting at her computer working on work stuff?
Definitely not charging myself PTO now.

I am 110% done putting up with my coworker and her stupid tantrums. She teaches the middle school bands and we share a classroom (though they're moving her next year, thank God) and all of our equipment. Every time a piece of equipment gets moved and she doesn't know where it is, she flips out on me. Most recently, she had a fit because the high school held a big scheduling meeting for next year's events, and the high school teachers got first dibs at scheduling high school events in high school facilities. She was upset that she wasn't invited, because she has her middle school band concerts in the high school cafeteria. She sent a super nasty email this morning to all the arts teachers and both principals about how unfair it is.
On top of this, at the beginning of last week she decided she was backing out of a fundraiser that we were supposed to be doing together tonight. She left me to plan and orchestrate it entirely on my own in under two weeks and didn't offer any help at all. This is not the first time this has happened. Her excuse is always that she has rheumatoid arthritis and an elderly mother to help out, which apparently precludes her from doing anything beyond the minimum amount of work required for her job. Somehow the fact that I'm pregnant and unable to do any physical labor myself has completely slipped her mind.
I'm also incredibly frustrated with having to explain to students why they are required to be at required performances, and why it's not acceptable to wait until the day before an event to tell me that they're not coming, especially when the event is required for their grade.
TL;DR I can't effing wait for this year to be over.
@soprano19 oh man I'm sorry you have to deal with a nightmare coworker like that! Will you have to deal with her at all when they move her?

@soprano19 that really stinks. I have many friends who are music teachers and no disrespect to any of the other teachers out there, but you guys and gals always seem to have more on your plate with all of the extra rehearsals, performances, fundraisers (because you know, schools like to cut funding for arts programs). How much longer until break?
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@ChocolateIsLife if I have to deal with her, it will only be minimally and only in the capacity of her being my feeder program. We will continue to share some instruments, but it won't be an issue for very long.
@Brambles23 our last day of work is June 9th. Cannot. Wait. 99% of the time I absolutely love teaching music and would never ever trade it, but that last 1% is incredibly stressful. Between managing equipment, trying to get kids to show up to performances and rehearsals outside of school hours, keeping track of concert attire, planning events and field trips, and all the paperwork that goes into all of these things, I honestly don't think most other educators understand what our job entails, much less people who work outside of education.
Mine is actually pretty petty but here it goes: Last weekend we went to go see Fate of the Furious. I was completely apathetic about seeing it because honestly if you've seen one, you've seen them all. Anyways, the projector stopped working so they refunded us our money and gave us free tickets to come back. DH was pretty bummed about it because he really wanted to see it. Plus, it didn't seem like the movie was going to be playing for much longer. I was really sympathetic on the outside but on the inside I was thinking "woot now I don't have to sit through a movie that I didn't really want to see." We were going to use the free tickets to see Guardians of the Galaxy tomorrow. BUT he noticed that FOTF is still playing so we're going to see that. I said nothing even though I would MUCH rather watch Guardians of the Galaxy. He CLAIMS we'll go see that next weekend.
