Since it was discussed that BFest Monday, TW Tuesday and WTF Wednesday are just repetitive, here's your weekly "bitch about whatever you want, when you want" thread (with yesterday's date just for sake of weekly orgnanization)
Box elder bugs are taking over my freaking house. All over the outside, finding ways inside, one was crawling on me when I was falling asleep the other night... I'm so sick of them! Dh sprayed the outside of the house today, so hopefully it helps a little, but with two oak trees and a south-facing house, its not going to completely solve it.
We all took MIL out for dinner for her 60th and she couldn't stop checking texts on her phone and messaging people. Like are you 60 or 16? In addition, we rarely go out to eat with the inlaws so just put the fucking phone down.
@sjohns908 DH ended up telling her off for being on her phone and she was indignant about it. It frustrates me that we have to teach a 60year old table manners.

Omg I remember these bugs from our old house. They were awful. I hope they go away soon for you. Found an old pic of ours.

My b this week is about pediatricians. My friend's ped told her her baby BABY food because he's so big even though he's way too young. And now she's stressing that he doesn't like it, spit most of it out, and is now having tummy troubles from the little he did swallow (perhaps because he's only 3 months old and his tummy isn't ready) . But she's not stressing about the baby being sick, she's stressing that she has to find a way to "make him like it," because the ped says he needs it.
Ugh. This kind of thing drives me absolutely up the wall. They're basing his "need" for baby food solely on what the scale says even though there's so much more to it (including important things like him not having the head/neck control to stabilize his airway and not having the digestive maturity to handle the food). Maybe I'm just hypersensitive about it because our first ped was truly awful and following her advice put my baby in the HOSPITAL. But it just seems so much to me like once you take the kid in and they get the weight, the appointment is over because they base the rest of everything on that...
@Boobopgirl I agree with @buttercream_frosting - new pediatrician. It's hard when you're a new mom because you're completely leaning on doctors to tell you what is best. But if something doesn't seem right, second opinions can really help.

@ChocolateIsLife so gross! That's what the front of my house looked like before he sprayed. I guess the bright side is that they only stick around for a while. But it seems like as soon as they're gone, the stupid Japanese beetles show up. Im definitely missing living out west right now where these dang things don't exist
@Boobopgirl she definitely needs a new pedi. I hated our first two because I felt like I could never do anything right. Finally found our current one and love them. My friend was also told at 3 or 4 months to start giving her baby rice cereal because he was so big that "breastmilk won't be enough for him". Who recommends cereal anymore, plus wtf kind of logic is that?
This is kind of a stupid b-fest, but this week at work we are taking professional photos/head shots. Like of course we have to when I'm pregnant and looking a little chub!
I just took mine and it actually turned out a lot better than I thought it was going to so that's a plus.
@ChocolateIsLife that picture is frightening! lol @sjohns908 I hope they go away soon! I would be freaking out, but I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to bugs.
@Boobopgirl That is very frustrating. I hope everything turns out okay!
My ped told me AT THE SAME EXACT APPOINTMENT that 1) Dd2 wasn't getting enough milk because dd1 was still nursing (she was not gaining quite enough) 2) That her spitting up constantly wasn't a problem because babies only spit up the "extra" they eat.
So to summarize, she was drinking too much of the milk that wasn't there for her to drink but not gaining enough weight. Thankfully when I called him out on it and said, "you just quoted 2 facts from different textbooks and didn't apply them to the baby in front of you." he was like...you're right and wrote the zantac Rx. He hasn't given me feeding advice since then, lol.
On the bug topic, DH sprayed our house a week or two ago and I feel like it made everything worse if that's possible. Like he trapped a bunch of bugs inside or something. I'm finding ants constantly and last night there was a giant spider on the ceiling before I went to bed. Ugh. We only sprayed because we felt like we should so...that backfired apparently.
@ariz17 my youngest has horrible anxiety over bugs, so that's also contributing to the whole "I'm losing my mind over this" factor. Plus I woke up last night to another one crawling on me. Ugh.
@Boobopgirl Why is it that Drs like to push breastfeeding but then seem to bash it at the same time?? I'm glad you called him out on his BS. My SIL just had a baby last month and has had trouble BFing. Her pedi had the nerve to say to her "So you're just starving your baby because you don't want to give formula?". Needless to say, she switched to our pedi practice after that appointment.
Thank you scumbag brain for waking up at 1:30am and not falling back asleep until 5:30. At least I was able to sleep for another two hours after that, but still, not cool brain.

We get our house treated bimonthly, but I remember the pest control guy explaining that scenario being common. When your husband sprayed the house, it wasn't strong enough to kill them, only stir them up and get them moving. It sounds like it was enough to create a barrier for them to stay within the parameters of the treatment.

Add me to the list of bugs! We had ants inside for what felt like forever. They finally disappeared after ant traps and spray inside and out. I hope the queen was murdered and they all stay away for-evah!!
@purplestarz yep, we dealt with that too. We get wants super super bad in our kitchen every year. When dh sprays, it brings out other bugs and the ants disappear maybe a half a day and then come back with a vengence. He has had to resort to finding their nest, which is usually under the deck boards of the deck right outside our kitchen. He kills the queen and sprays the ever-loving crap out of the nest.
@sdarling2010 dh has put out traps too, where they take the bait back to the nest. It kills the queen and then boom, they're gone. He's been doing that this week for all the ones outside on our patio and front yard
My B is, wait for it, the inlaws! We told them when DD's recital is (May 19) way back in March, as soon as we knew the date. They put it on the calendar and said they'd be there (2 hour drive/ferry for them). Fast forward to last Friday when I get a text from MIL asking for the 5000th time when my next ultrasound is and when we find out gender. I told her again, then asked if they were for sure coming to the recital so I could buy tickets this week. Her response "I'm having the older granddaughters over for a sleepover that night and then we're going to a women's retreat early the next morning. I don't think we will be able to make it. When's another time we can come?" I'm absolutely furious. They skipped our house warming because they'd "already seen our house" and now they won't come to DD's recital because she double booked herself. The other granddaughters are 18 and live 20 minutes away, she sees them all the time. They haven't seen DD since February for many reasons. It just hurts my heart for DD because she keeps asking when she will see them again and was so excited they'd be at her recital.
I'm personally ok not seeing them for long stretches, but don't mess with my kids emotions!!
A few years ago before started regular bug treatments, we had a bad infestation outside with Crazy Jamaican ants. Literally, the moment we walked outside to the backyard, they would swarm you(never bite though). It actually looked like the ground was moving because they were so concentrated. That breed of ants doesn't form a line or have organization, they just frantically tun around in swarms.
Eta they caused electrical issues because they swarmed outlets and busted them. Guys they are crazy!

@ChocolateisLife well, damn. That's kind of what I was assuming. We paid for professional treatment last year but wanted to save some money this year. Ha. We might be going back if they don't disappear soon lol
@sdarling2010 ugh ants are so hard to get rid of. When we lived in Oregon our house got them so bad. We paid for professional treatment and they would go away for a little bit but then come back with avengence. I'm a fairly clean person and I'll never forget opening the dishwasher to find it SWARMING with ants. It was the stuff nightmares are made of. Ever since we sold that house I wonder if they new owners are dealing with it too.
@purplestarz Did we buy your house? Lol. We never had ants at our last house, then we moved less than a mile away and I swear we must live on top of an ant hill now. They seem to come with no rhyme or reason, too. Warm weather, dry weather, rainy weather, they just come and go as they please. We use Terro and they go away for a while but inevitably return.
@sdarling2010 sorry you have to deal with that! Watching your kids get disappointed is the worst. My father in law is the same way. He won't show up for important things, but he will come over unexpectedly for dumb reasons. Like yesterday he came over during my son's nap time, banged on the door and window until I answered, then wouldn't even come in to spend time with DD. He was just there to drop off a jar of pickles. Thanks, dude, pretty sure we can buy our own pickles if we want them.
When he does bail out on important stuff, I make sure he knows the kids were disappointed. I have zero regrets about making the grandparents feel guilty when it comes to stuff like that.
@purplestarz I hope they let up on you soon! Getting regular professional treatment is pricey, but I think we have had so many pest issues that it was worth it to not have to worry about. We have those awful gigantic tree roaches in our area, and those haunt me in my dreams from our old house. I haven't seen a single one since treating the house!

We paid for professional treatment last year for ants. Didn't do a damn thing. Had them come back because they said it could take a second treatment. Still didn't help. I was so mad that i spent that kind of money for nothing. Now that dh has been able to find the nests, it's been night and day. But I know that isn't something that's always possible. We think there are some that have built nests underneath the siding on both the front and back of the house. So our only option is the bait traps
@OliveOyl2014 I'm sorry you have to deal with that too! My inlaws are the same, won't come for things we've invited them to but invite themselves over when it's convenient for them. The inlaws "forgot" my birthday this year saying they're getting old and need more reminders, after 11 years - said this to me on the phone and wrote it in my belated birthday card. Then used the same excuse for DD's recital. As soon as I got the text that they weren't coming I told DH and he called his mom who started crying and made him feel like it was his fault for not reminding them. Ummmmm it was on your calendar! You did it yourself!
My BF today: I went and had my car detailed yesterday for the first time ever (it was nasty with dog hair and coffee stains). Well they detailed it and it looks beautiful and was so fresh. This morning I opened the car door, and it smells like a sweaty man at the gym has been sitting in my car farting all night. I guess I was supposed to crack the windows until the carpet dried, but I didn't know that. We have family coming in town and I planned to drive them around this weekend, and now they are going to associate me with the farty car.

On the earlier bug complaint. I have fruit flies in my house this time a year always and my sister is visiting and texted me to let me know that the bread I bought last night mind you and was unopened had fruit flies all through it. Makes me grumpy.
I'm incredibly sick of opening up my computer or scrolling through fb and seeing some new story about how someone was "mistreated" by an airline. Stfu and stop looking for your 30 seconds of fame. You're not going to win some massive lawsuit like the other guy. Everyone knows your full of it and an AW
I'm pissed at this recruiter who called me last week with promises to schedule an interview with a hiring manager and has yet to call me back or respond to emails. Not a good time to be teasing me, bro.
@sjohns908 YES. THIS. I watch the news every morning while eating my breakfast and there's seriously a new story every dang day. This is getting out of control.
