This evening, I went on a mountain biking trail with a single speed dirt jumper (my mountain bike is currently awaiting a new set of wheels) and man, oh, man.... it was rough. I worked muscles I didn't even know I had.
I will not be peeling myself off of the couch at all this evening... except possibly for food.
We just got back from a BBQ at my best friend's house (a dude) He just started dating this girl with a little guy about 6 months older than my little guy- I'm kinda in love with this situation and hope they never ever break up. She's the bee's knees and it means more hangouts with my best friend. Its not impossible to keep non parent friends around after you start having babies but its a lot more work. Usually when we hang out with him at these types of events its a lot of drinking and shenanigans, this time it was all around the kids playing and having fun. It was just really nice and refreshing.
My weekend has been exhausting. Flooding crisis has been averted. A couple of DH's friends from the firehouse were kind enough to bring over a couple K12s and rock breakers to cut the trenches. They had to cut through 6 feet of 8 inch think concrete to get the water redirected away from our house and the neighbors. But we have survived with no water damage to the house so yay!
Then this morning I had to work outside in the cold and rain which sucked a bit. But work paid us to be out at a BBQ competition for a children's charity. DH and I definitely enjoyed all the BBQ. Plus we found out our area is getting its first ever poutine place! I am so excited that poutine and beaver tails will be available around here soon! A two hour drive is so worth it!
Hey people! I did tons of laundry today (it feels like even more of a chore than it used to ugh!) and then got my hair done. I went lighter and got several inches chopped off. I love it so much and wish I could share a pic. I also picked up some stuff to decorate the box for our reveal on Thursday! I'm going to put it all together tomorrow. SO excited we only have to wait 5 more days! Now I'm laying in bed, eating some weird Airheads Bites things, and watching hockey.

@jena333-2 I would check with your OB about the level of pelvic rest. I imagine they mean no penetration. When I was on pelvic rest, I wasn't even allowed to orgasm, but I had complete previa.
If you need me and @labby18 we're having a come apart over how weird language is. Specifically English.
So weird. It makes teaching kids to read tough.
Yep. I get all the weird rules (with millions of exceptions) along with Latin and Greek roots in my 5th grade class. Poor kids don't know what hits them.

I used to tutor 4th-8th graders in English. The kids I felt worst for were the ones whose parents first language is something other than English, because there is so much a native speaker tacitly understands and can pass on that these kids didn't benifif from. Latin has some weird exceptions too, if I remember correctly.
Left the house this morning with the intention of just going to breakfast. Spent the entire day running errands instead, then came home for 15 minutes before going to the in-laws house to hang out. I am done in. On the up-side, I bought my first pair of maternity pants today and they are pure magic. I may never go back to "real" pants! I also found the cutest dress at Motherhood Maternity but didn't buy it because it was cheaper online...then by the time I got home it was no longer available online so I am kinda bummed. Planning to announce pregnancy/sex on Facebook tomorrow so instead of going to sleep I am on my computer trying to find the perfect pic and words
And on the last good note, having a boy is going to save me a ton of money. I don't have nearly the urge to buy alllllll the things.
I just went maternity clothes shopping for the first time because all my shirts were turning into belly shirts (I lost like 15 lbs in the 1st trimester so apparently all my pants are still fitting) and I bought a Snoogle pregnancy pillow. I'm so excited to sleep with this thing tonight. It's wrapped around me on the couch right now and it is all of the comfortables.
Congrats on finally wearing maternity pants! I asked myself why I took so long to get them because they were soooo much more comfy! My weekend now consists of me trying not to lose my shit with my in-laws in town. I feel like a bitch because MIL does a lot for us and she's super nice, but I need my personal space. She's scared to drive, so when they're here, we have to drive them around, make sure they have meals, etc. I also always catch her cleaning stuff that I obviously didn't do a good enough job cleaning myself. This has made me realize I don't want anyone to stay with us when LO is born. Having other people in my house just stresses me out and I want to be able to walk around with my leaky boobs out and sleep in the middle of the day and not have anyone else here to ask me if I'm okay 100 times a day. Our master is also on the main floor so I have trouble sleeping when people walk around upstairs or go to the kitchen. I figure if we end up needing some help, we can always ask. That's better than me trying to build up the balls to ask people to get the F out of my house. Rant over.

I don't know how to teach reading--all the praise to the elementary teachers who take on that heroic task!! At the HS level, we get to see the results of a generation of tech-focused non-readers (kids know how to read but choose not to because they'd rather watch YouTube videos, play video games, etc) and it is often not pretty. I wish I had an example... but one thing I see a lot is with spell-check, they correct mistakes so quickly they don't even look at what the correction is. Yes, please use the tools of technology (I'm very pro-tech in the classroom), but please also try to learn so you don't repeat the same mistakes!
We used to teach vocabulary from Greek and Latin roots, but the kids would just memorize the words in the books rather than try to extend knowledge of the roots to other words. I'm a huge word nerd, so I learned a lot from teaching out of those books, but it did not transfer to the kids. We switched to studying words from the texts we read.
Yesterday I got a copy of the Baby Bargains book and it is THE BEST. Highly recommend for FTMs, or STMs who need to buy new stuff. It helps so much with sorting out which strollers, car seats, cribs, etc are the best and why. The 2017 version (12th edition) just came out, but I'm sure last year's would be fine too if you got it at the library or a used book store.
Wow, I guess I'm really popular! @labby18 not only do I get a snark attack in my thread, I get a roast in here, too?! I'm flattered. Sorry, I honestly didn't know I was breaking some kind of cardinal rule.
I've seen other bumpies post new topics on closely related topics from previous threads, and so I didn't think it was a big deal. Anyways, I'm not going to go crazy bitch-I'm-out status, so I'll accept that I committed a faux pas and hopefully we can all still be friends?
@angeladowns1 if you didn't notice we have flamed all the duplicate threads in this thread. And you're welcome, I'm glad you feel flattered. It's been my pleasure to flatter you, that was my intention, you didn't know that? I wanted to make sure you felt special yesterday.
