  • @keriflores yes! I'm the same way with the video games. It's generally my time to go watch the Bachelor or whatever terrible tv show I'm into at the time and I don't have to worry about DH bugging me haha

The only time it bugs me is if he's playing and I'm making dinner, and I tell him dinners ready, but he can't come eat because he can't save his game right there. Then I don't care about him. Then I'm mad. Lol
Im a gamer so whenever hes playing, ill be playing too so +1 on the "games not bothering"

I'm not a gamer, but when DH and I were first together, he did a lot of international travel and had weird work hours.  He was addicted to an online game that required him to check in multiple times per day to have any success.  He very sweetly asked me to check-in and do certain tasks when he could not.  I was always delighted to do it; it was a small window into his brain and something that I could do to make him happy.  He is not much of a gamer anymore, but he and I are working hard to take care of each other and our family, so why not have free time to do whatever you like?

  • I love all the food people have said so far - especially mexican food & oreos.  But I absolutely hate cheez-its & goldfish.  Both of those are my DS's favorite foods so we always have them in the house and he always tries to feed them to me.

@keriflores  My DH used to be a big gamer and I guess he still is, but he has moved from the computer to his phone.  I don't mind that he plays except now that it is on his phone, he does it all the time...everywhere!

  • @dumbledoredies I'm right there with you on the fish topic. HATE. IT. My doctor told me i should be eating salmon twice a week now that I'm pregnant ( i have a new doctor now lol) but I tried. And threw up every time. Have you tried to eat something you already absolutely despise when you're pregnant?! It doesn't end well.

  • Dammit guise!! I was waiting for this thread today to give my UO regarding doctors and of course it had to be brought up already

My UO is that I don't just go by whatever my Dr tells me, I have started to do my own research. Now, I understand the whole "if you don't trust them, find another dr" argument. But my issue stems from the new OB at my practice. I have been at this place for almost 7 years and I love love love them.

So I have migraines. They give you a "safe list" of meds at your first appointment and one of those is Tylenol with Codeine for headaches. I have never had an issue in my last two pregnancies getting a script for it from the other Dr's. But this new OB is the first one I have dealt with this pregnancy and so I had to go through her. She wasn't going to prescribe it for me and instead pushed me to take Fioricet, which has caffeine and creates a vicious cycle of headaches for me. She didn't seem to care about that. Just kept pushing it. Plus, it's a category c drug. As is the tylenol 3 she wouldn't prescribe me. I had to push back, hard, to get it. Finally got her to give in.

I've expressed my success with Imitrex, but she insisted I had to stop taking it as soon as I got my bfp. It's a category c. Again, so is the Fioricet she keeps pushing. Neither of these two meds has any known or proven issues. I've even read medical journals that say most OBs actually prefer Imitrex during pregnancy over Fioricet because Fioricet is a narcotic, while Imitrex is not. Not to mention, if I take an Imitrex, it usually always Knicks my migraine out within an hour or less. If I take other meds, I'm taking them every 4 hours for 3-4 days and then I have caffeine withdrawl headaches. Soooo 1 or 2 Imitrex or over a dozen other pulls, plus daily headaches now from the caffeine...

Anyways, long story short here, I have definitely stopped just listening and not questioning because of all of this.
  • the term "gamer" makes me giggle. it sounds so dweebably cool, and i want to become one just so i can tell people i am a gamer.
If you want your mind blown about gamers, go check out Twitch. They now have their own leagues if eSports.
  • @dmellis02 i hate cheezeits and gold fish and cheetos and all powdered cheese things too! just the smell of them make me want to hurl.

  • Here's mine:   Lulu roe is not cute, I don't care if they are the most comfortable clothes made.  Being presentable in public is not alway about comfort.  Also, only children should wear leggings with animals printed on them.
  • @carries2018  I've never met anyone else who hated those too!!  The smell kills me and I wish we never introduced them to DS!!

@nbcarlson My dad was a SAHD for several years (ages 6-8) and I loved it!  I thought he was the coolest dad around (and still do...lol).

@carries2008 I'm with you on the pasta dishes.

UO (that is actually probably a popular opinion): I think jarred spaghetti sauce is perfectly acceptable. I also like Olive Garden! I married into an Italian family and they don't understand. It bugs me. Maybe I'll have this baby's 1st birthday party at Olive Garden! :smirk:
I wont' be around for FFFC so I guess here's mine a day early - we just use the regular Hunt's tomato sauce and add our own spices for it. DH and I just aren't a fan of chunky tomato sauce and then I can control what types of seasonings go in it. I feel like it's got to be healthier, too. But I know a lot of people think we're absolutely insane for it.

What is another option? The only kinds I see at the store are the store brand (which I've tried and don't hate but DH swears he can tell a difference and hates it) and Hunt's...

  • Absolutely! If you do more to spaghetti sauce than open the lid of a jar, you have churned out something homemade! I don't cook anything Italian around here. DH does the honors.

UO: Spin-off of @carries2018 Hunt's hate. I ONLY eat Heinz ketchup. Do not bring me Hunt's, store brand, etc. Heinz!!!!

  • @acnd08 oh good one!  Hunt's ketchup is the worst.  While we are on it, Miracle Whip all day 'er day!  I hate Mayonnaise.
  • @mrs_fogue I do not discriminate there. I like Mayo, BUT I also eat Miracle Whip. When it comes to Mayo though, it's gotta be Kraft for me. And no "salad dressing" mess when it comes to MW.

    a) Miracle Whip
    b) Mayonnaise
    c) Ew, none of the above.

  • I can't stand seeing children out in public without any shoes on. I personally will not even walk on my floors at home without shoes on (we have dogs and the floors are usually dirty). When kids are outside in the grass as long as you know there aren't rusty nails or pieces of glass in it, ok. At the beach, a water park or even a park with sand (again, as long as you know there's nothing dangerous they can step on), ok. I'm talking about how I went to Chic-fil-a and there were children inside without shoes on. I get they're probably not wearing shoes because they were playing in the play-place thing. But omg think of what they're stepping on. I know I'm knit-picking. I was just raised that there are places you wear shoes and places where it's acceptable not to.

  • Oh I thought of another...I have tried and tried because I know it's not good for you and full of processed crap, but there is only one Ranch dressing in a bottle and that is Hidden Valley.

  • @mrs_fogue you are so right about hidden valley ranch! But miracle whip is the worst. Mayo (the one with olive oil in particular) all the way!

  • @mrs_fogue  YES.  My DH does the grocery shopping, and when I asked for Ranch, he got KRAFT.  I was like...what is this?  Do other people make Ranch Dressing?

Although, have you ever eaten at Red Robin?  They have the world's best ranch...I could drink it.  That I'll rank above Hidden Valley.  :)

@bluejeanbabi05  @JessDG strictly talking bottled ranch.  Restaurant ranch is far superior to this crap.  Also, FTW, Outback has the best ranch hands down.  I may have gone and gotten a salad from them the other day just for the ranch and croutons.  We don't have Red Robins or I would certainly give them a try.
