The ultrasound was this morning. No heartbeat but the embryo more than doubled in size. He wanted to call it a blighted ovum but he is so unsure because of the growth. He wants to wait (again) and do another ultrasound next week....if no heartbeat, then *TW, a D&C. I am opting for a D&C to get chromosome analysis done and since I work in pathology, I know the best way to get adequate tissue is D&C. *End TW
I am doing ok because I deal with this stuff every day at work. My DH is frazzled and kept saying he would be in Denver for the procedure...uh, no you are not! He wanted to go to a medical conference....definitely not!
Although it is frustrating to have gone through all these injections and testing, I am considering this a success because it was our first try and I was fully expecting it to fail. I am also glad I have this board to get things off my chest. My DH is kind of a dodo bird sometimes!

**TW** I was in nearly the same boat as you. I got pregnant with my first IUI, then had a blighted ovum and a subsequent D&C. I try to look at that as a good sign, that I am capable of being pregnant as well. **End TW**
Yeah, DHs can be a bit clueless at times. I find I need to try to over communicate and if I identify something that I need, I am sure to ask for it instead of hoping he will think of it on his own . I had my mom come over and help take care of me after my procedure. She is the loveliest of nurses and knows just what I need!

AFM, thanks ladies! We are super excited. I did have a slight panic yesterday because I was spotting a little bit of brown, but when I wiped there was a little red/pink. I totally freaked out and called my doctor, but they think it was due to the transvaginal ultrasound the day prior and the high dose of progesterone I'm taking. The spotting trailed off last night so I think we're fine. That was so scary though!
@clovelyone spotting happens for a lot of women through out their whole pregnancies. Try not to worry to much - HA easier said than done!

@ac93639. Still nothing measurable. The RE is increasing me to 600 units (8 vials) a day. We'll continue this dose through Sunday night and test again Monday.
They've only had one other patient that's gone to this high of a dose before. I trust her judgment, but it makes me nervous that we have to go so high just to get a response. It makes me even more nervous because we're at such high doses and not seeing any results yet. The only thing that has changed in the last 12 days is my estradiol but that has increased less than 20 points.
They noted that if we don't get a response by Monday, we'll probably do a follow up visit and discuss alternative options.
Needless to say, I'm feeling discouraged today. Hoping that things magically come together by Monday.
@JaeJayStark Thank you! Yes the US's were torture, I feel like it's just always going to be like that because of my past experiences. It is AMAZING to be able to actually see the little bean growing in there. This was my first IUI. Our first US after the IUI was 4/10 with the fertility specialist and he literally took 1 minute and that was it. He was like bam there's a heartbeat. And I was released that day to my obgyn. Then had 2nd US yesterday. That was the worst! (But the best of course ) The tech was so sweet and soft spoken but she was taking forever and also didn't tell me right away that everything was ok. So finally I asked her, is everything ok and she said why wouldn't it be? We have Meridian insurance so my USs get done in the hospital and I don't think she knew any of my history. Sorry for the rant. Lol
oh and I'm so excited for you, I was just lurking and saw all your new progress!!! FX for April!!!!

I found a doctor that I want to work with. I'm waiting till after May to start again. I want to lose a few pounds since I know that being overweight doesn't help.
@ac93639 I think you're onto something there. My first cycle was 30 days. The estradiol hung out at 20-something for an eternity then all of a sudden took off on day 20. By day 30 it got to 783 and we got two follicles.
This cycle, I started at 5 vials and am now up to 8 a day but am just barely starting to respond on day 15. My estradiol jumped from 48.78 Friday to 99.82 today which is my saving grace. I thought she was going to cancel me. No measurable follicles yet, but it looks like I'm *hopefully* responding again. I'll do another three days of meds and retest on Thursday.
I'm glad you found someone you want to work with. My fx are crossed for you!!
**TW. I'm officially out. The embryo kind of disappeared and all that's left is a blob of some kind within the gestational sac (which is right on target and growing well). The D&C is all set for Friday. End TW****
I will linger around but we won't try again till July. We will be researching whether to do a fresh cycle again or frozen. I Hope to follow as many of you as I can!

@katherind Wow! I didn't know they can do 8 a day. Sounds like your body is finally responding. FX!! Also, I talked to my regular RE and she mentioned that I will need to continue to take meds to carry for the 9 months (for the lack of hormones from my body). You might want to ask your RE and see if this will be needed for you. Always sending you positive vibes!

@ac93639 Either did I! I'm apparently only the second patient of theirs that has received this high of a dose. So I freaked out a little when they said to go that high. Quick update from this morning's appointment. Just like last cycle, I got off to a very slow start then things just seem to happen all at once overnight. We are on day 18 of injections. I finally have a 13mm follicle on my right and a 21mm on the left. When she measured internally, the larger one was 17, but when she scanned abdominally it was more clear at 21. I'll see what the RE & nurse say this afternoon with the "official" results. It looks like we may trigger very soon if all goes well. FX!
@katherind -that's great news! FX this is your cycle...I had a bfp after my chemical (not the next month because I took a couple months off)...but I like to think that maybe the chemical prepares the body for future pregnancy!

@ac93639. Still nothing measurable. The RE is increasing me to 600 units (8 vials) a day. We'll continue this dose through Sunday night and test again Monday.
They've only had one other patient that's gone to this high of a dose before. I trust her judgment, but it makes me nervous that we have to go so high just to get a response. It makes me even more nervous because we're at such high doses and not seeing any results yet. The only thing that has changed in the last 12 days is my estradiol but that has increased less than 20 points.
They noted that if we don't get a response by Monday, we'll probably do a follow up visit and discuss alternative options.
Needless to say, I'm feeling discouraged today. Hoping that things magically come together by Monday.

Our first US after the IUI was 4/10 with the fertility specialist and he literally took 1 minute and that was it. He was like bam there's a heartbeat. And I was released that day to my obgyn. Then had 2nd US yesterday. That was the worst! (But the best of course

I found a doctor that I want to work with. I'm waiting till after May to start again. I want to lose a few pounds since I know that being overweight doesn't help.

@ac93639 I think you're onto something there. My first cycle was 30 days. The estradiol hung out at 20-something for an eternity then all of a sudden took off on day 20. By day 30 it got to 783 and we got two follicles.
This cycle, I started at 5 vials and am now up to 8 a day but am just barely starting to respond on day 15. My estradiol jumped from 48.78 Friday to 99.82 today which is my saving grace. I thought she was going to cancel me. No measurable follicles yet, but it looks like I'm *hopefully* responding again. I'll do another three days of meds and retest on Thursday.

I will linger around but we won't try again till July. We will be researching whether to do a fresh cycle again or frozen. I Hope to follow as many of you as I can!

@katherind Wow! I didn't know they can do 8 a day. Sounds like your body is finally responding. FX!! Also, I talked to my regular RE and she mentioned that I will need to continue to take meds to carry for the 9 months (for the lack of hormones from my body). @ac93639 Either did I! I'm apparently only the second patient of theirs that has received this high of a dose. So I freaked out a little when they said to go that high. I'll know more tomorrow when I retest. Hoping to see a good response. I will certainly ask about if there would be any continuation of meds. Thanks for the info!
