@mrs_tacos I spoke with my re (was about to do round 2 of testing when I got my spontaneous bfp which automatically released me from re care since I hadn't had 3 consecutive miscarriages) and 2 midwives. They all said the same story and seemed to think I was ridiculous for even asking for blood work and u/s so I dropped it for a while. All maternity care goes through midwives, so no ob contact until birth if the midwife needs support.
i looked up home dopplers 4-5 weeks ago and the only ones I could find that were decent in price said 4 weeks shipping to where I live, so I naively thought "I'll be in second tri by then and all my fears will be manageable and less." So, no, I don't have a Doppler but I regret it.... this part is also responding to @harleyquinn0621
eta: @hopefulmommy1980 thanks! I just keep reminding myself "I'm almost to the a/s and then I have monthly aptts....

@BigBadWolf12 I'm sorry, that is all really unfortunate. PGAL brain is bad enough already, it sucks that the system where you are isn't more understanding. Hopefully the time between now and your a/s will go quickly!
I tried installing three free Doppler apps on my phone and was in the staff washroom trying to figure them out. LOL. One of them said free but you had to pay to activate, which is weird...another was picking up "heart rates" out of thin air, and the last was saying my own heart rate was 160something one second and 90 something the next.. I just had to laugh at how ridiculous it was

@BigBadWolf12 While PGAL fears are tough, try to take it as a good sign that the midwife is treating this as a normal pregnancy. We were set to start IVF in January when we spontaneously got our BFP. So while I was still considered high risk due to multiple MCs, the OB and MFM offices didn't do any betas and basically said if I got a positive on a FRER that was good enough. Even with being high risk, they have treated this pregnancy as though it were a normal low risk one. The only extra things that were done were the extra glucose tests and keeping me on Merformin through 12 weeks. No extra visits, blood work, or testing.
@JNR6510 thanks. That is reaffirming. I've never heard of going from 8 to 18 weeks with no u/s or Doppler check, but maybe it's more common than it seems from my small and biased sample set (which I admit is the bump and limited googling)

UPDATE: good news, baby is on track and kicking away!
Details:
I went to the midwife walkin time today to ask about stress (work combo with not checking LO in 7 weeks and having to go 3 more).
Apparently the walkin is just for pregnancy tests, not random questions or follow up like I thought, but my midwife squeezed me in between two scheduled appointments anyways.
Long story short, she could tell how worried I was (I didn't hold back AT ALL) and so she talked to the doctor who happened to be visiting the clinic that day and she squeezed me in for a quick ultrasound check. LO is doing well. Heart beating, kicking away even though I can't feel anything yet. I cried I was so relieved and they were so nice to slot me in between regular appointments when I apparently had no business being there in the first place. No new picture since i was in and out trying not to interrupt their schedules too much. But all is good.
I am so relieved: 1) that LO is doing well (and so cute ) 2) that the midwife and doctor were so accommodating. Up until now, I've had doubts about their care since everything I've asked for (heartbeat check, growth u/s, fundal height check, literally ANY check that would tell me that things are growing along down there) they've said "no, we don't do that here until 20/24/whatever weeks". But them slotting me in the middle of their schedules when it was ME who made the mistake of misunderstanding the purpose of walkin times made me feel so cared for and much more at ease and trusting in their care. *phew*
