Re: FFFC 3/17

  • @DuchessOfCambridge - I've been to Dublin on St. Patrick's Day.  Drunk messes there, too, just with a cuter accent.  ;)  I would like it a lot more if I could drink this year!  I usually have some fun with it, but I will just be going home to sleep early today, lol.

@jess0211  Mine is 11 years old also.  My vet said the same thing.  They are clueless.  It's heartbreaking.

@2dash Oh my gosh, me too. I just complained to my husband last night about how many commercials there are for food on TV. I had to cover my eyes during a taco bell commercial yesterday or I would hurl.

My (nearly) 4 year younger SIL got pregnant on accident and her whole pregnancy has claimed the default statement that she "has no idea what [she's] doing."  MIL has confided to me that she's actually worried about SIL's parenting ability.  (She didn't even realize she was pregnant til she was over 7 weeks!  I actually suspected before she did.)  It's been really difficult not to be judgey.  Now that we're pregnant too, my oldest child syndrome is kicking in and wants to "show her how it's done."  (Mind you- I'm a FT(bio)M too...)  Sometimes I hate myself...

Also, @DuchessOfCambridge I hope to have two showers as well.  Though mostly because I'm obnoxiously introverted and hate being in large groups and being the center of attention... but DH is a social butterfly so we know too many people.  And same on the "for the love of everything please stick to the registry!"

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I had 2 showers too! One in my hometown (that actually ended up being over skype because I was on hospital bed rest where we live now, but skype found out about it and sent us a bunch of goodies!) and one that was more of a sip-and-see because we had it after DS came home from the NICU. Two were always the plan because I know so many people in my hometown though!

And I also am not a big fan of St. Paddy's Day. We used to live in NYC and that day, SantaCon, and NYE were the days we just did not leave the apartment. Chaos.

  • @elsieisamoocow we go to NYC every year around christmas with the kids to do the whole tree/lights/store windows thing and 2 years ago when we went was the day that it was Santacon and it was a crazy turnout because it was also 65 degrees. That was interesting with 3 under 5 (we had my nephew with us too). Now we make sure our trip is NOT that day. I couldnt imagine living there and just having to be stuck af home. Crazy dumb drunk people  :D

  • @mispanda: I am 100% on the drinking side eyes being annoying. I maybe have one drink a month. I don't care a lot for alcoholic beverages and I definitely don't pay for them at bars (I am super cheap), so I get frequent side eyes. But it's not like a drink in general!

  • People who push others to drink are annoying! I rarely drink due to GERD and to be honest, it doesn't make me feel good. I had waiters question why I didn't want to order a drink twice last pregnancy and I finally had to say I was pregnant so they'd stop asking when they came back. My friends are great about it. I don't want to drink and I don't need to. Plus, like @dragonfly87 said, they are ridiculously overpriced! Depending on the drink, it's anywhere from a $5 beer to $12 mixed drink if I'm guessing correctly from memory. I can buy a six pack or bottle for a little more. Plus, I like my cheap $10 Barefoot Moscato.

  • This sounds ungrateful because it kind of is since any gift is thoughtful so flame away, but I don't want anyone to give me decor for baby unless I pick it out because I have this nursery planned to a T. I won't use it and then they will feel bad when they come over and see it isn't there.
Fir my son, my mil decides to give me a playpen that was not the one I asked for. It didn't go with anything nor did it have the features I wanted. I never used it and got rid of it

@pawcall Hugs friend. I completely agree. I tried to say something to this effect in the announcing thread... I hope it strikes a chord with people. It's just so hard and like you said it's the nature of the beast that people keep IF and loss to themselves. Especially with your friends and family, the people you purport to love most -- wouldn't you want to be sensitive?

Not because she wanted to. It's only because she had to as she bought my sil a crib so she tried to be fair. Also, it wasnt that expensive. It was the cheapest one from walmart. I love my mil. I just hated that playpen.
