Weekly Randoms 3/5

Yeah, I forgot again. My Sunday's seem to just get really busy. I went and picked up my new LLR leggings and got a Classic T as well. Of course I am wearing my new outfit today!

  • Has anyone noticed that during the leap LO favors you more than Dad?  S doesn't seem to want him to hold her and he is having an extremely hard time putting her to sleep. Worries me because he will be with her during the day when I'm back to work.  I've been having a hard time with her also recently but I am able to soothe her better. Thinking I might have to do daycare/sitter maybe one or two days a week.
  • Just got our invoice for daycare and it's $40 more for the week than we expected. Apparently the rates went up that much since the fall. Wtf??
  • @kvruns, really?? That doesn't seem right. If you were quoted one price I feel like that's what they should honor... or at least give you a heads up the price changed before sending an invoice!
  • @kvruns Omg! He looks adorable!! Hope you both had a great day.

@Ladybug2821 DH says that about our LO too. It makes him feel bad. But i think it's just that they're meant to fit exactly right into mama  ..that and the smell of milk!

  • @leighry my H called and the director said they will honor the Lower price since that's what our packet said last fall. I still can't believe they raised it that much. It's still cheaper than others nearby but the gap is closing now

So great they'll honor the previous quote. Our daycare is laid weekly and every year the cost increases by $5, which unfortunately means that they will also catch up to the others.

@m6agua I've been living in LLR since about the 8th month of pregnancy. And it might be another reason I'm nowhere near my pre-pregnancy weight. Now for a way to include them in the work attire...

Aside from drinking a little prune juice this morning, not a thing. But he clearly needed to go. He turned bright red, pushed and then looked super relieved... twice.

  • @SandNStarsNJ my work is pretty casual on their dress code. It's the automotive industry, however it is an office setting. This is what I wore today.

  • When do babies actually get comfort from a lovey?  I've been trying to introduce a lovey now so when she is able to get comfort from it she'll already be familiar with it. Hoping once she does it will improve sleep.
  • @ladybug2821 What's a lovey?

Anybody a loyal FitBit user? I have been, previously with the Charge HR and now with the Flex 2, but am getting aggravated with how off the steps are, that nursing is registering as sleeping and that my sleep sensor is WAY off. And the flex 2 is definitely not step accurate. What do you use/recommend?

Nope they are dark blue with pink circle/bubble looking things on them.

A lovey is like a blanket or stuffed animal or something similar.

  • Thanks @m6agua!

@ladybug2821 Our first started using very soft textures (mostly stuffed animals) just shy of a year for comfort and still does.  She rubs the paw or tail or whatever extremity on the hand or cheek to relax.

  • @SandNStarsNJ I use my Fitbit! But I have the super basic one. Eventually I'd like one a bit better. I thought I'd try with a cheap one and see how I like it.
My sleep was actually super accurate. My steps seem to be as well but I have figured out if I shake my wrist I get steps so if I am moving my arms a lot my steps will increase.

I woukd be super annoyed if it was off considering that's why you wear it!!
Is your battery life decent? Mine is BRUTAL!
  • @kristah2 My HR battery is great but the flex one sucks and doesn't warn you like the HR.

I also use the Charge HR. I don't wear it to bed anymore because the sleep was off. I think my resting HR might be low anyway, so sometimes it would track me as asleep when LO and I would be just be hanging out in the early days  :D It sometimes also tracks nursing as active haha

  • Week 15, day 2 and I'm finally getting a little cabin fever. I want to go somewhere but idk where! It's too yucky to walk outside. Don't want to go to Target or BBB because I'll end up buying stuff. Don't want to go walk on the indoor track at the gym because exercise. :p

  • @hoosiermama which one are you at? A coworker used to take her daughter to Keystone for walks and said there were always a ton of other moms with strollers
  • My daycare has an app with updates about diapers, naps etc.  it was great At first learning he finally pooped (it was day 4) but now getting an update of another bottle 1.5 hours after the last has be concerned he's freaking out and they had to feed to soothe him bc he never eats that much so soon. Now I'm feeling anxious.

Try not to be. They are going to develop a routine that might be very different but works for them. Try to take a deep breath and trust it is going as well as it can!

  • @hoosiermama they have a nursing room?
  • @kvruns right by the restrooms in the food court. I was pleasantly surprised! It had a rocker, spacious changing table, giant sink and a really cool light fixture above the rocker. And it was cleeeean! (Makes sense I guess since only moms and babes go in there. :p )

  • Along the lines of a nursing room, Indy airport family bathrooms are great with a changing table with disposable pads for it. Unlike FT Myers airport where the "companion" bathroom is just big but no changing table and the restrooms don't have one either - just a big ledge and mirror in the bathroom that looks more like a vanity someone might use to spruce up after the flight but you have to change a baby there too
    SandNStarsNJ
  • Yeah the aquarium near where I live has nursing chairs in the restrooms next to changing tables. It's awesome! I guess when you get lots of families you learn to accommodate them if you want them to stick around and come back again.

In Jersey the only place I've found with a nursing room is Babies R Us.  You're lucky if some places even have a changing table.

So i have an appointment and decided against bringing LO because he's been eternally fussy for the last few days and of course he's taking a nap for the first time in a week as I leave with the IL who are bound to wake him up immediately. It's two steps forward, one step back all the time with this kid.

  • @SandNStarsNJ my BRU doesn't have a nursing room (and the bathrooms are dirty) but BBB does and it's really nice. All the malls around here have nursing rooms too. Even our movie theater has changing tables tho.

  • I think I need to start looking for an in home nanny. I work from home and with M's naps being so variable my work is suffering. My H (we own our own business) has been extremely patient so far but I don't feel good about how unreliable I've become. Plus it would be great to go to the gym or run errands without M screaming the whole way there and back.

I'm thinking 3 half days (probably 8-12) to start. Where do I begin looking for someone?  Any advice for me?

  • @MrsMaryK2016 I'm thinking about doing daycare 1 or 2 days a week (S will be home with H while I'm at work). My plan is to ask around at church to see if someone has or knows someone with an in home daycare and to check out care.com.
  • @MrsMaryK2016 I'm on a local facebook page for buying/selling baby stuff and people are always posting about daycares. There is also a local group just for daycare/sitters so maybe your area has that. You could search or ask around.

This probably won't apply since you have your own business (unless it is pretty big), but for those with an EAP at work many times a service offered is for finding daycare so they do leg work to help find things for you

We get a sheet at the end of the day with the feedings/naps/diaper changes and I've notice that they feed her every 1.5-2 hours (unless she actually gives them a good nap and then it's as soon as she wakes up). She doesn't eat that often at home, for sure. I think it's just what most day cares do, and it doesn't mean your baby is a basket case.  ;)
  • Our local Nordstrom has a very nice nursing room. Super comfy sofas.
@MrsMaryK2016, check your local FB groups. I'm part of one for our region of the city and people are always posting ads for nannies looking for part time work. Also care.com is a good resource but it's pricier than you'd think.
