Update to friend

I spoke with his daughter today. He is stable. He has COPD and Emphysema and didn't tell anyone. Not his daughter, not me, no one. He's also been smoking and told us all he quit.

They have had him intibated for approx 1.5 weeks so tomorrow they will be putting in a temporary tracheotomy. He is not coherent and on heavy meds. His daughter is going to call me when it's a good time to go out there. Whether it's because he's alert enough to notice or because he's coming home and will need the help. Please keep him in your thoughts ladies, I don't know what I would do without him.

I'm happy he is stable, but it still sounds pretty serious. H+P for you and your friend - maybe this will be the wakeup call he needs to stop smoking.

I'm so sorry.

My FIL has COPD and I'm amazed your friend was able to keep it from people. I hope they are able to keep him comfortable and he is able to breathe easier soon.
