had a fail today and instead of bringing my strips to work i brought my old lancet needles i use an empty strips container to put the needles in and didn't bother to see which one i picked up. so needless to say no daytime testing today
$70 copay for test strips is ridiculous! If mine were that high, I'd just get more of the OTC ones...thankfully mine are completely covered. As if we all aren't under enough stress of having to do this in the first place...
@Heliumgirl717, It's so expensive. My copay is $70 or so for 100 strips. I have earned a new empathy for people who have these copays forever.
Did you happen to call your insurance company to see if they had any other options? My insurance company has me do mail order and everything is free through that but when I went to the pharmacy it was outrageous. The pharmacist never told me that my insurance company preferred that I do mail order for diabetic supplies. The cost of health care is outrageous. I spent over $5,000 for the birth of my first son so I'm so thankful to have better insurance this time around. I actually switched jobs just because of the health insurance and knowing that we were going to have another child.
How do you handle going out to eat? We are going out to dinner tonight and I'm nervous my number tonight will be crazy. I've looked up the menu and the nutrition info and picked a few things that wouldn't be as horrible of a choice. Am I the only one who gets stressed over this? I know I can't be perfect, but I just feel guilty.

@awoodruff27 i woudn't stress....i just came back from a wedding this weekend...over ate but made sure to have salad and less carbs from the buffet but then opted to save the cupcake for late in the night to space things out...then on the trip home today stopped at mcdonalds. we cant avoid everything and it sounds like you are in the right direction looking up no so bad choice options for you.

I try to stick with meat and veggies when out. Eating out is usually easier for me than being at home... I'm so sick of all my go-to at-home meals!
@tmrussell, I haven't called insurance. I'm low on supplies, so I just need to bite the bullet and refill.
@awoodruff27, I do salads with protein if I can while going out to eat. This morning I went to a baby shower at a crepe and pancake place. Nothing was reasonable for the diet. Ugh. I asked for a side salad and then I was starving.
@mezalune I am so sick of my at home meals too. I have a few go to meals I like, but I'm already tired of them.
@LAMCH1980 I did get a salad with chicken. I have about 10 min until I need to do my after dinner check. We will see how it goes.
We went to a Mexican place, and I wanted to cry looking at the chips and salsa. My family all dug in and I just sat there. I did steal two of my daughter's fries, but then she had to say " I don't want to hear you complain later" so I almost flipped out on him. He did apologize but he just doesn't get how hard it can be with the cravings. And the guilt if I do slip up because I know it's not just about me.

Had a 32 week growth us this morning. Baby is in the 83% and her belly is 96%. She's 5lbs 5oz. Stop growing baby!!!! They said The absolute latest they would let me go is 39 weeks.
@lmudra Ahh, I love growth scans/ultrasounds! It is so nice seeing baby.... but definitely nerve racking to see how big they already are and know how much longer we have!
@awoodruff27 Don't be too hard on yourself. I almost always cheat when I go out to eat. I think eating out is easier than eating at home because I can order my own meal, rather than trying to cook healthy for myself (because my family is NOT down for my healthier options.)
My fasting number was 133 this morning. The highest it has been in a long time and I ate PERFECTLY yesterday. I am SO over these fasting numbers.
I've been eating dessert every night for the last few days (instead of protein packed yogurt) and my fasting numbers are going down bc they are increasing insulin. So more insulin + dessert is obvi better than low insulin + no dessert. Whatever. I'm over it to.
I haven't had a change in insulin in two weeks and all but this mornings fasting have been below normal (first time this entire pregnancy). This morning it crept back up to 114. I haven't changed anything, I'm still eating ice cream before bed and normal dinners. I have no idea what's going on.
+1 on ridiculous numbers that don't make sense. My post-breakfast has been climbing, even though I'm not even getting 30 g of carbs in. I remember with DD1 that it got progressively worse until I started insulin, and then I was induced 2 weeks later.
I have found that the little pre-packaged cups of ice cream are great for my fasting numbers, even when I add a little Hershey's syrup.
PSA: My go-to pre-bed ice cream is turkey hill chocolate peanut butter ice cream. If I have any other type, my numbers are high. Weird, but maybe worth a try?
Very first fasting number in the 90s. I'm normally high 70s- low 80s. I'm hoping it's just a wonky number. Blah.
Bummer. I hope it's just a fluke. 90s is still within normal range for you though, right? My fastings just have to be below 95, which has happened three times so far.
My insulin was increased to 70 units And mine was still 108 this morning.
I talked to my endo doctor yesterday, as I am COMPLETELY frustrated because even though I am diabetic all the time, not just during pregnancy, my numbers are SO good, and my diabetes is SO well controlled outside of pregnancy. She said pregnancy hormones do crazy things and it is really not uncommon to have crazy numbers, ESPECIALLY if you are diabetic all the time.
Here we freaking GO! This entire pregnancy I haven't had ANY blood sugars our of range after meals... today, they have both been in the 150s 2 hours afterwards.
You know we talked about the spike at 31 weeks... I am technically 29 weeks according to my initial ultrasound. But according to my LMP I would be 31 weeks, AND baby boy has been measuring over a week ahead of schedule with every other ultrasound... which would make my LMP (and what I think, because I was tracking ovulation) more accurate.
Sorry, just venting because I am trying to rationalize these insane numbers.
Would it be weird to do a small GD fb group together? I feel like we need to vent/ support through this but I don't want to bring the bigger group down. It's kind of a lonely road... I joined a huge group, but it's always the same questions and crap.
