It hasn't been mentioned here but scout out your local mom2mom sales. I felt overwhelmed as a FTM not knowing what I would consider buying second hand... but after you go to a few you'll get the hang of it and find out some great stuff.
Similarly, Once Upon a Child. I buy all my toddlers shoes there because they are usually less than 10 bucks for shoes that are over 30 (converse, Striderite, nike) and with a lot of life left!

@PizzaMonster3 Mine completely sucked. I got a bottle, two diapers, 3 sample wipes, and a bunch of small samples (like what I can find at my dermatologist's office). I complained to Amazon but they said they can't guarantee what will be in your box.
I still recommend doing it since it is free. There's a chance you could get the good one with the swaddle blanket, toy, etc.

Also, it's not recognizing my Prime membership because I share with DH. He can just order the welcome box for us, but may be helpful to know for others who share with someone they aren't co-registered with.
@purplestarz You are right, I can "mark items complete" and that's so much easier than adding a bunch of stuff I don't need. I was wrong about my husband being able to order the box for us - apparently only the primary registrant can order it, and not the co-registrant. Something to consider when deciding who should set up the registry...
@roo_baby are you saying you cannot order the box because you're not the primary owner of your prime account (your DH is)? If that's the case you need to set up Amazon Household. I had to do this (DH is the primary member, but I set up the registry)...look down these FAQs like half way down.
@purplestarz Our situation is complicated because it's not just DH and I who share Prime. We are grandfathered into an old multi-way sharing plan and don't actually pay for it. If we tried to set up Amazon Household we would most likely lose our free Prime, and that's more valuable to me than the welcome box.
Others might have the same issue, though, if they are in an Amazon Household with their parents, best friend, etc. and their partner sets up the registry. Just make sure the person with Prime (if it's only one of you) is the primary registrant.

Target wants to trade you for your old car seats!! Bring in old or expired, damaged whatever car seats and target will give you a 20% of coupon to be used for a new car seat. Trade in is good until April 30th and the coupon is good until May 31.
Got my amazon box today! The most exciting things were a FULL pack (56) of Huggies natural wipes, a muslin swaddle, and an avent natural bottle (which we may not use, but still exciting. The wipes, swaddle, and sample toiletries were the exact things I needed to finish packing baby's birth center bag, so now he/she is set to go. (yes I already packed the baby...don't judge me, lol)
I think we touched on the Target registry gift (maybe? I don't feel like searching through the thread lol). Anyway, I got my free gift today. All it entailed was signing up for a registry online (took maybe 3 minutes), then I got an email telling me to pick up my free gift at Target. I went ahead and added a couple things to the registry for good measure, but I don't think it mattered. In fact, I just walked up to customer service, told them I made a baby registry online, and they gave me my gift without checking anything.
Here's a pic of everything included. Lots of samples (diapers, wipes, lotions) and coupons, a bottle, a tape measure (to measure baby I guess? or my belly haha) and pacifier.

Thanks @purplestarz ! I got my bag today! I got a few different things but same idea. Instead of a Dr browns bottle, I got a natural Avent bottle. And instead of a Mam paci, Igor a Nuk paci. A few other samples were different too but similar.
Here is my Target free baby bag haul... I like @Purplestarz 's bag better, but it was freeeeee. And she is right, they dont even look up your registry. Just tell them you got an email about some baby bag after signing up for the registry online, and they go get the bag.

@ForwardnBackward I already forgot how I did it! I searched for "baby welcome box" while I was already signed into my account, but I can't remember if it popped up in the search and showed I could claim it, or if it popped up when I opened my old registry. Aaaand that was just yesterday. My poor brain!
I searched the amazon baby box after I just bought 20 bucks - because i was slightly under with 1 product) worth of registry items, and a checklist came up. It wouldnt check off the $10 purchased items until the items actually ship. Theres another check box for 11% completed registry too. Does anyone know if I will still be able to claim with just being a prime member and ordering the 2 items off the registry?
@ForwardnBackward what @canonmom413 did must be what I did! I remember seeing the checklist and I had all 3 requirements checked and a little button that allowed me to claim.
I just ordered a boppy cover off my amazon registry, so I'm waiting on it to ship and then I should be able to get my box! I also need to go to Target to get the goodie bag. I've spent way too much time this afternoon on Target's website adding way too much stuff to my registry (for the sole purpose of my own list and helping family members with what to buy. MIL has already expressed that she wants to get us a big ticket item, so I've been looking for rock n plays and co-sleepers that I like)
@sjohns08 definitely get the rock and play with the automatic rocking function! I don't think that was an option back when I got mine, and I'm definitely planning to get the auto rocking kind this time!

theres a way to link your accounts so it will recognize your prime membership. I had to do that as well.
