Re: Weekly Randoms 2/20

  • @happyhiccup I've gone through my sister's friend for LLR. She has a set-up on Facebook for sales every Monday night. I think you can find someone like that, even if you don't know them. She may also have a website now, I'm not sure...hmm... Of course now I'm off FB, which probably helps my wallet but I want more! Maybe I should track down that website.

I get tons of positive comments on my Julia dress, which is all the more impressive since I live in fashionable NYC.

  • @Bababatty I get mixed reviews in Westchester. Some ladies love it others don't get the hype but buy all the LuLuLemon.

  • @lulu1180 It took me saying it a couple times but I finally got it. That's too funny!
  • @dragonfly87 For about 6 months, I worked close to where my mom did (she's a waitress) and about once a week I would go there for lunch and sit by myself.  It's not at nearly as bad as people think it is and at least you don't feel pressured to keep the conversation going!

  • @kiwi2628 and @lulu1180

Whew. Lunch is over now. It was delicious and relaxing. I enjoyed it, other than the rude couple who sat next to me. They were about 2 feet away (small restaurant) and the guy lifted his menu to block his face, but I could still hear him say, "how weird is it that she is alone and kind of rude she is taking a table up by herself." His girlfriend giggled.

Ugh, I should have said something but chose to just ignore it. I also think the lady on the other side of me was being scammed by a guy trying to sell her his services for investing. He was wearing jeans and a T-shirt claiming to have developed a multi million dollar algorithm that could beat the market. She was older (late 60s) and really into it. Ugh I actually wish I had intervened and told her, "don't trust anyone that promises a 8-10% return regardless of how the rest of the market performs."

But overall, it was a good lunch!
  • @dragonfly87 what an a-hole...Like you were taking up so much more space than a couple? How dare you have lunch? I would never have that reaction to seeing someone dining out alone.

@heatherdubrow yeah, it was odd. I could have sat at the sushi bar, but it was after the lunch rush and there quite a few open tables.
  • @dragonfly87 Whaaat? That's a complete asinine statement... people go out to eat solo ALL the time. That's also like saying that if two people go out to eat but sit at a 4 top then they are being rude for taking up a table that 4 people can sit at. He is the one who should feel sad that he is dependant on others to go out and live life.
  • @happyhiccup I primarily shop from a TTGP grad @Krys (I feel like an investor in her nursery furniture, I've bought so much haha)  but browse somewhat local people (other milspouses stationed elsewhere in Korea)

@kiwi2628 I'll try that next month haha

  • @kiki75 Preach sister!

@kiwi2628 I'm thinking about it, but I have a phone consult later with a therapist so I am conflicted about whether I should be trying to keep it together... Hmm.

@lulu1180 I nearly spit out my wine that was so funny. Your h and my h would be best buds
@dragonfly87 I'm not a huge fan of eating alone, however, sushi is actually one of those meals I really enjoy eating all by myself. I guess it started out as most of my friends not liking sushi so I had no one to go with. Now it's just something I enjoy doing myself. It's just so relaxing and I love the time alone to reflect
@kiwi2628 Yes!! I'm currently drinking a glass of cabernet (Horse Heaven Hills). Delicious!
  • @kiwi2628 Well 1. I'm at work (darn Korea time) and 2. I can't drink b/c of these stupid antibiotics/other meds for the BV and yeast infection.

  • @kiwi2628 yes! I stocked up on a bunch of wine from Trader Joe's, tonight I'm trying their growers reserve zinfandel.

(Side note - I need to learn how to gif from mobile - I know there are threads on it, I just keep forgetting to read them)
  • @heatherdubrow  Yayyyy I can't believe it's tomorrow!!

  • @happyhiccup I haven't had that one yet. I do own a few cases of the cabernet lol
  • @icecubeinthedesert I'm so so so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and hoping this crazy month flies by and is more fun than stressful.

@kiwi2628 Oy, I wish I'd had more water starting during AF. You've inspired me to have three glasses at least with dinner!

@heatherdubrow Here's hoping you won't be able to have wine (or bubbles  ;) ) very soon!

  • I hate how eating healthy lunches just leaves me craving sugary things. I have oven roasted veggies and chicken and I'm full but still wanna make a trip to Krispy Kreme.

  • @slaven I have the same problem! I started keeping mini peppermint patties at work and I eat one after my healthy lunch to satisfy my sugar craving.
