I didn't realize before tonight that pineapple helps induce labor!!! I ate a bunch today at work just because I was wanting fruit but now I'll have to have some on hand in a few weeks for when I'm feeling too over being pregnant. I haven't hopped aboard the date train yet, have kind of mixed feelings on them I guess. I have mixed feelings also about when I want this kid to come out to be honest. Part of me is like already at the point where I feel ready & would love for him to be early, but I also want him to come at the end of March when he's supposed to because it'd make things with both my job and school easier, and I'd like to extend my leave into the end of June if possible...oh well I guess whenever it happens it'll happen!
@serenity13 I'm in the same boat... I didn't do anything special with my son and delivered the day before he was due. I'm almost scared to do something extra but yet also not wanting to be 11 days past EDD and regretting it!
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. 1 Samuel 1:27 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, dates and tea *shouldn't* impact when you go into labor, they help ripen & tone the uterus. There is actual medical proof of this, peer reviewed articles, worth reading. Now, I won't personally hop on the EPO train until 38/39 weeks. Pineapple is a new one I'm going to have to research as well.
Im conflicted - I want the LO out at 39 weeks but 40 would be better for maternity leave (stretching into July). Just feeling Iike a giant whale & the need to roll over every 3hrs due to heartburn is obnoxious.
Pregnancy brain moment.. Laying in bed thinking wow I haven't seen the midwife in a while... Realized when I went to go schedule my next appointment I said 2 weeks instead of 1 week. So I apparently skipped a week. Every week is alternating between 2 different midwives so now I probably messed up their schedule. Oops.
Like good morning said--dates and RRLTea don't bring labor sooner/just have studies done that show they produce more favorable outcomes for labor. I'm a good example---I've been living on the stuff and I'm still pregnant haha
40+2 whoop whoop ((this is a competition to see who can go the longest, right!? )) Tuesday is my favorite midwife's day in L&D!! So today would be nice!! But...crazy MIL is coming over for a visit this morning... so here's hoping baby at least waits till she's gone to get things kicked off.
With the pineapple you have to eat a lot of it... it has an enzyme called bromelain that is concentrated in the core of the pineapple so that's the important part to eat.. not saying don't give it a whirl just don't worry if there's pineapple in your fruit salad and you don't wanna go into labor lol
I asked my OB about RRL tea and she actually said there is conflicting info about it and discouraged me...she said that since it acts as a diuretic that there is a chance it could bring on preterm labor in some people.

I read that "it may be a slight diuretic" but can't find a study to substantiate that. The ones on the benefits to the uterus are much easier to find & supported by my OB. I'm guessing it's less of a diuretic than my daily cup of coffee & didn't start until nearly 37 weeks to avoid any incidents. Dates at 36. But obviously everyone consult their MDs & do what is best for their bodies. If there's one take away from pregnancy- everyone's body is different.
The way my morning is going.. I don't know if I even want this baby to come. My son is just about 23 months.. I'm on school vacation and thought "this will be a wonderful time together before baby." Well so far he is crying and screaming if I do anything and saying "up!!!" To be picked up. Not to mention I woke up super sore (was the prenatal massage a bad idea yesterday?!), feel nauseous and my belly feels so heavy. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't know if I can go up and down the stairs ten billion times and also am overly emotional about the change we're going to go through.
Anyone else's other children sensing something is going on with mama and acting out because of it?

@shines721 DS has definitely been having more tantrums but i'm not sure if thats bc of baby or bc he's 18 months lol... he's had some random really sweet moments too so i hope those get sprinkled into your day as well.
@shines721 I'm a FTM but my dog has been acting especially needy the last few weeks & wanting lots of attention from us. I feel like he senses his time as our only "baby" is coming to an end so he's been extra affectionate & cuddly, and whines a lot more too now.
@shines721 you got this mama!! My 18mo old has really been giving me a run for my money too-being pregnant with a toddler is not easy! I just keep reminding myself: you will not have a toddler, and a newborn AND be pregnant. You get to get rid of that last hurdle before you take on the middle one. Hang in there-do what you need to for your mental sanity and take it a day at a time! **creepy internet hugs**
@RunBooRun I'm drinking 1-3 cups of the Third Trimester Tea from Earth Mama Angel Baby probably 5 days a week. It has RRL in it along with other herbs. I just use one bag a day and re-brew it though.
Dates I'm aiming for 6 a day... I think I based that on the 2007 study that showed promising results on cervical ripening and spontaneous labor (vs. inductions). IRL it's usually between 6 and 8, because I have a sweet tooth and I figure an extra date is better for me than a Thin Mint (LBR, I can't eat one Thin Mint, it's that an extra date is better for me than an entire sleeve of cookies).
For those doing RRL tea and dates, how much are you supposed to consume?
I'm on the fence...
6dates per day. And RRL tea was like 3-4cups a day allowed)?? But I've only been drinking 1-2. ((Until yesterday when I bought a new box and am past due so I've started to drink the 4cups a day)
I'm legit jealous of y'all who enjoy the taste of dates. I read the research on them and decided to try it out, but I ate one and could barely choke it down. Since then I have just been adding them to smoothies.
I've still been shoving 6 dates a day, I separate them into 3 at one sitting with tons of water and then 3 later. It helps, but I better see some results! Started moving around more on birth ball yesterday. Feeling sooo ready, I feel like I prepared for baby as much as I can!
Woke up in disbelief that I'm still pregnant. I had about 45 min of contractions every 3 min last night. No pain but some mild discomfort. I thought for sure I'd wake up middle of the night in labor. Alas, no.
I did wear white pants today and I'm out shopping, with the thought that it'd be the worst choice of outfit if my water broke.
Also planning on meeting DH for a kidless lunch, and things tend to unexpectedly foil our lunch date plans so again maybe today's the day.
@JustAnotherUsername16 I'm with you. I find it terribly hard to choke them down. I bought a bunch of Laura bars. But that leaves me stuck with a costco size bag if dates (bc eating 6 a day I needed a HUGE bag right?!?!) Sigh... maybe today I'll look up recipies to actually use them in.
@Cbeanz maybe the white pants will be like when you're waiting for your period, the day you decide your period is not coming and you wear the white, it shows up. Good luck for labor!
I'm up shopping by the hospital again. So I just paused my location sharing app. When my sisters go to GPS locate me it'll look like I've been at the hospital all day lol!
@vino831 are they pitted? Slice them open down one side, stuff with blue cheese crumbles, close, wrap in bacon, and bake. Usually 375 for 30-45min works well, flip them around 20 minutes and see how close to done the bacon is. If you're not a fan of blue cheese you can put an almond inside them too.
I've been eating my 6-8 dates with big gobs of cream cheese and drowning out the date taste haha
i drink two cups of double bag RRL a day. I started off with just one bag a day in the 2nd trimester and built from there. i get a lot of BH so i feel like it's doing its job. Plus, with my first i was told i was a very effective pusher so i contribute most of that to the RRL.

I can't believe it only took about 20 min! Now I'm getting all these "are you having a baby" texts. People are vultures!
@cbeanz that's crazy!! you should go to a strip club parking lot and lock it on that location lol. people have been asking me if I'm in labor yet (37w4d today) and i'm about to just tell them i had the baby 2 weeks ago...
Its noon and I've scrubbed the toilets, done three loads of laundry, baked cookies, given DD a bath, done lots of dishes, scrubbed down the kitchen, and had a play date with MIL.... I promise I'm not nesting... I'm just getting BORED waiting.
@kjd291 if you are bored, you are totally welcome at my house. I'm sure I can find some laundry and cleaning to keep you busy. ;-)
Glad you made it through your morning with your MIL.
Thanks!! She only made things awkward once by bringing up/questioning why DH had told her we don't want company/help the first week baby is here and just want to get used to being a family of 4. Otherwise I made it through unscathed.
And yes! I'm just running out of things to do with my toddler stuck in my house... i just kinda assumed this week I'd be having a baby.
It's her naptime now though, so I'm watching last nights episode of The Bachelor so that's an hour and a half of the day filled
Well I eat dates & drink milk . Sometimes I have this ice cream knockoff too - Freeze bananas & make a fake banana ice cream with dates & a smidge of cinnamon & milk. Take dates (3) & a tablespoon or two of milk & blend. Add in frozen banana, sprinkle of cinnamon, purée until ice cream consistency. If too thick add a smidgen more milk. Takes about 2-3min total. Can add some whipped cream if you're feeling decadent.
I had a massage this morning and half way through it I had a horrible hot flash and started feeling faint! The poor gal had to turn off the heat, pull the blanket off me, and go grab a bunch of ice packs! So embarrassing! I was fine one minute and the next I was sweating so bad all over that I honestly thought my water broke! I am so ready to be done with pregnancy
