March IUI

Re: March IUI

  • I totally agree, I so want to do a research project. There should be a way where you enter your circumstances and it gives you a success rate and other options to consider. I totally geek out on all the data.

  • @bpietronicco Hi Cycle Buddy! Whats going on in your world? We are officially 11dpiui . I was going to test yesterday but I didn't want to see a BFN. My RE doesn't let us come in for a Beta unless we get a positive at home..ughhh I think Im going to wait until Wednesday to POAS. I dont know what my body is doing. I had feelings of a period a couple days ago and now its gone..

    How are you holding out?

  • @funkykey that is a great thing you're doing. I think it may have been you who pointed out that about 20% of each group has gotten a BFP so when I reviewed the chart I was like oh boy there's got to be at least one more BFP out there!!

@londonsmom-2 I'm only 5dpiui & don't normally jump on the crazy train until 8 or 9 so I should be good for a few more days, lol. Not testing at 11dpiui is true will power, but I totally understand not wanting to look at another BFN ever. I hate those things. Good luck getting through the next couple days <3

  • @londonsmom-2 yay for the new puppy addition! I'm a dog girl  ;) what breed and how old?!
FX AF stays away! When are you supposed to go in for beta? My dr did it the same way.
  • Well I got a BFN, so I'm out this month. This was our second IUI, so I think we're going to take a break before we move on to IVF. I start working this month and will have better insurance that will kick in in a few months. Good luck to all of you.
  • @ShyTonia We rescued a Cane Corso and Rott mix. She is super sweet. I took a hpt this morning and it was invalid. Not even the control line showed up. I like being hopeful so Ill test again tomorrow. Im pretty sure ill get a BFN.. I feel AF coming..

I want to move to IVF but its not guaranteed and its all OOP. so I dont know. Any suggestions?

  • That chart helps so much. Sometimes I feel like a failure and it's reassuring that others are in the same struggle. I had a well intended coworker yesterday check in to see if last round worked. I told her it didn't. She said she wished she could give me her uterus. She has three daughters. I felt the need to tell her that I don't have anything wrong with my uterus. I tried to tell her that it's normal for people to not get immediately pregnant.  :(

  • You guys have to stop complimenting me! I am blushing! And IRL, I swear, I am a raging bitch - not uniquely kind at all!!! LOL! ;);)

But for real @JaeJayStark, you have to worry about your own feelings sometimes. I probably don't worry about others' feelings enough, and tend to air on the "straight shooter" side - like I give my honest feedback a lot. And because the IF is making me borderline depressed, my "honest opinion" is, more often than not, on the "harsh" side. The other week, I spent probably 45 minutes reaming my friend out for having said something offensive to me, something on the: "just relax" spectrum, but more extreme.

Ah well. I figure, hey, not all women are warm and cuddly, nor should they have to be. It takes all sorts! B)
  • @funkykey The "just relax" spectrum  :D That's the worst.  @jaejaystark that 'borrow the uterus' comment would have been offensive to me too.  I don't get how people can think they are being sensitive.

I feel the same way though, I think this is all making me depressed.  I didn't even work yesterday. I wasn't feeling well but I also didn't want to do anything after my IUI failed. I haven't called in sick in 4 years and called in sick yesterday. I don't get why this happens to us. It's really draining.  I have to start famera today and just don't even want to think about it.

  • Well @Funkykey you are kind to us so I will take it! I tend to take things out on my poor husband. God forbid he doesn't understand all the ins and outs of how to make a baby. He gets one piece of info wrong and I jump all over him.

Yes, the "just relax" thing kills me. They say, "My friend was trying for a while and as soon as they stopped trying they got pregnant." I want to say, "Oh yeah, the science is really solid. You just need to have sex for fun and a baby appears in your uterus!"

@Irisheyes81 I am glad you are taking time at home especially with all the stuff going on in your life. You certainly deserve a break!

  • @Irisheyes81 - I called in sick after my last IUI was a bust, which (like you) is super unusual for me.

For me, this IF journey, it's affected my work ethic, just because it's affected my motivation. For years and years, I got up every day and went to work, and worked super, super hard, because I had a dream of what I wanted for my life and my future. I've dealt with so much workplace BS and organizational politics - the kind of soul-sucking stuff you end up dealing with if you want to climb the ranks, specifically as a woman in a male-dominated industry. It's been such a struggle, but I kept telling myself, "there will be rewards" - ie. a loving family, nice home life, easier workplace for the women who come after me, for my daughters.

Then we started trying, and it was like: "no baby for you", over and over again. Now I'm 18 cycles in - 19 soon - and there's still no BFP, and over the past year or so, I've felt my motivation slipping. Like, my whole reason for pushing myself so hard, for working so much, being so dedicated and disciplined, it's fading. At times, IF has almost made me feel like: "What did I do all that for? Has this even been worth it?"

I did not call in sick when they told me I had cysts, but I did spend way more money than I usually do, just on nice things for myself. Like new boots and a new dress. The stress of this journey, it's really awful. If I have cysts again when AF comes next week, I am definitely going to spend the day in bed.

Anyway, keeping FX for you next cycle!
  • @funkykey I can't tell you enough how helpful you are and how much I hope the stupid cysts go away. I feel the same about work but also about a house we just bought. We left the city for the suburbs and now there are empty rooms. It seems like I did all these things to set up this life and every single month, that life looks farther and farther away.

  • Just got the call from the doctor ☹️ bfn- she is having me take my meds through the weekend and I have a meeting with her Monday for next cycle.
  • @Irisheyes81 - oh man. The suburbs? Every time you do yardwork, are you like: "F*ck this"? Like, I'd commute for a yard and more space if we had kids, but no way if we didn't. I'm in a similar boat with our place - but instead of something nice and finished in the 'burbs, we bought this tiny run-down place a (gentrifying but rough) part of our city, and are planning/working on this big renovation, paying through the nose for it, and the only reason we're doing it is because we wanted a family. Otherwise, we'd have done something else.

FX you get a BFP soon, and not long from now your house and yard are filled with the pitter patter of little feet. :)

@funkykey you're going to make so much money fixing something up in an up in coming neighborhood. That's such a great idea. I wish we would have done that. We did a ton of renovations but it's totally the burbs. After my IUI failed I thought about what would happen if we didn't ever have kids. First thing to go would be a house with a bunch of bathrooms and people who talk about the HOA.

  • @Irisheyes81 - ugh. I've had similar thoughts too, this past month. I mean, we're still giving TTC our all, but last week my sister sent me some photos she had done with her newborn. And I looked at the images of her and her H with their kids and I thought: "I'm not going to ever have that."

Then I thought: "Ooh, maybe I can get those white velvet dining room chairs sooner rather than later." And thought about how I'd do up a guest room instead of a nursery, and the joys of really delicate dinnerware.

I want kids (obviously), but I'll be honest: I am aware of both the joys and sacrifices involved with raising children. ;) I'm not going to shrink wrap my couch or anything, but almost all of my furniture choices to date have been more "functional" than "beautiful" - and I like beautiful things. If we don't have kids, I'm getting the furniture and clothes I really want, and we're going to travel to really un-child-friendly travel destinations, like the Himalayas. We'll be like Porta and Ellen, except straight.
