@mandasand and @HottLemonade2886 so sorry to hear your cycles ended with no transfer. That is my worst nightmare and I don't know how both of you are being so positive about it. I would be a wreck. (although this is our one and only shot since we are OOP and do NOT have the money to do this again).
@HottLemonade2886 we are also the crazy cat couple already. I had two cats when I met my SO and I'm fairly certain they were a large part of why he was so attracted to me in the first place

@mandasand I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I bawled for a week when the RE told me he wouldn't recommend trying my eggs at all. It took some time for me to realize that I want a baby so bad that I am willing to adopt a child who I did not give birth to and is not biologically mine, so why am I so upset about using donor eggs? At least if I have to go this route, I will be pregnant and bond with the baby more than I would with adoption. As for the baby possibly not looking like me, my fiancé could have very strong genes and the child may not look anything like me anyways. I'm not trying to down anyone who doesn't want to use a donor, but looking at it this way made me feel better about it. It's sounds like you are a pretty strong person and know what you want to do.
Im really happy that mostly everyone has had really great outcomes. Congratulations, ladies! FX that all of these beautiful embies stick!
@LoveDontCostAThing I love the pic and only hope that I have a few of those.
@HottLemonade2886 I'm sorry your emby didn't make it. Please try to keep your head up. That crazy cat couple comment is pretty funny so I'm glad that you can make jokes although I'm sure that is devastating news.
@PoeMasque I totally understand as we are OOP as well. I'm hoping that the donor will make a lot of good quality eggs so that we have a lot of embryos to freeze so I can do a few FETs, if necessary, or so that when we are ready for #2 or #3, we have leftovers. We are really saving a lot by coming to Cyprus. The tandem cycle is ~$5,600. I decided to start my meds here to save even more money and for airfare, hotel (including breakfast), airport transfers, meds, clinic fee above we will end up at ~$14K. As a reminder, I'm stimming as well as a donor. It's so unreal how different the cost is. In the US we would have easily spent a little more than $20K for just a traditional cycle that the RE didn't recommend.
AFM, I just took shot #4. I'm still very emotional (I tend to cry a lot anyway so it's been crazy LOL. I can't wait until my fiancé gets here on Friday! He's been so supportive from afar. I'm working remotely from here (I luckily have a work from home job), but it was stressful yesterday because the WiFi here sucks. I did talk to my manager about it and he was super understanding. What a relief!
I'm a little bummed to find out there's nowhere around here to get acupuncture. The closest place is about an hour away. I'm thinking about renting a car with GPS for a couple of weeks, but they don't seem to have street signs here (unless I'm looking in the wrong place). For the ladies who made it to blasts, did you have acupuncture during your cycle?
@mandasand and @HottLemonade2886 I am so sorry for both of you. I am also OOP and we went "all in" this cycle. Meaning no more savings my thoughts and prayers are with you both!
AFM, So no new follicles for me. But now have 16, 9, 9, 6 on left and 16, 12, 12, 9, 8, 7 on right. They said trigger probably Thursday and ER Saturday. I can't wait to be done with shots. Are these good numbers? I have no clue lol. Other than this site, I try to stay clear of searches so I don't go bonkers. My biggest were 12 and 10 on Saturday.
@Angelaag north of 13 is considered food/mature but mature is 17+. They grow approx 2mm a day and I guess the trigger shot helps with last push of growth. I'm sure your RE will time it right to get lots of mature follies.
@clovelyone your journey is very interesting! Are you form the US? How long do you need to be in Cyprus for treatment? I am pretty much opened to anything but my husband would most likely not go for this. However, if I could bring his sperm abroad he may agree to it, depending on the costs. I cant really image going through another round of IVF, I sort of knew this outcome was a strong possibility so I already went through the emotions of it.
I don't have the exact costs for donor cycle with my clinic but I think it's around around $20k. The IVF cycle is $3950, plus donor fee, $5k and agency fees are $7500 - but I am not sure if any other fees are involved. We would do this with the military clinic and we have a very short list of approved donors. My doctor is calling me today to check on me so I will ask him to come up with the different options for me and get back to me so that hubs and I know all our options.
Me: 37 / Hubs: 42 TTC: April 2013 DOR: AMH .3 - 1.31 (it varies); FSH: 5.1 Clinic NMCSD IUI #1 July/Aug 2016 IVF #1 Sep/Oct Microdose Lupron Protocol - IVF cancelled only 1 follicle IVF #2 Feb/Mar Antagonist protocol w/estrogen priming - 0 eggs retrieved (empty follicle syndrome) Donor Egg Cycle as soon as we find a match
@Angelaag -hey, those numbers sound good to me based on a Thursday trigger and Saturday ER. The follicles will continue growing even past trigger. I asked my clinic that before my trigger. 10 is a good number! Hopefully they all mature...good luck
@clovelyone -wow, what a cool story you will have for your future baby! For all the work you're doing, at least you are in an awesome location! I admire you for going after your dream in a huge way and can't wait to hear your updates. I didn't do acupuncture and got 7 blasts out of 11 fertilized. I was pleasantly surprised with this result, as it was a lot better than my first cycle. I also wondered about acupuncture and spoke to my dr. about it. He said that he didn't think it would benefit me because he didn't think I had an egg quality issue due to my age. He does believe it helps older women or women with egg quality issues. Did you ask your dr. if he recommends it?

@clovelyone - I have a question - the tandem cycle means that both you and your donor are doing ER? So that if you don't get any good embryos on your own, you can use your donor's, right? or is she doing all the egg-growing, and you're only doing estrogen for lining? I'm very curious, because I've never heard of it before. I didn't do acupuncture for my cycle, but I did really consider it the few last day when the anxiety and hormones crazy was growing a little to high. I really don't do well with needles, so my RE advised against it
@Angelaag - numbers look good to me! you have a lead follicle on each side, and quire a few good size ones that should be big enough by ER date to likely contain a mature egg!

@mandasand I'm praying that your donor cycle will be as inexpensive as possible. I'm from Michigan and a donor cycle there would be around $30-$40K at the clinic I went to. My friend who came here (Cyprus) had a donor cycle and I believe she spent about $10K total [flight (for her and her husband), accommodations and fees]. She of course did not have to stay as long as I'm planning on staying. I think she was here for about 2.5 weeks, but she didn't have to stay that long. Since I decided to start my meds here, Im planning on staying about 3.5 weeks, but will try to leave sooner if I can.
@LoveDontCostAThing Thanks for the encouragement! LOL, I'm definitely in the older category, I'm 39 and I have a low AMH. I have been doing acupuncture at home, but wanted it here as well. I stopped in December and was only able to go twice before coming here. Congrats on your 7 blasts! The perfect number will stick
@clovelyone - It is so amazing the things that we go through to try to have a baby. I wish you the best in your tandem cycle! I didn't know where Cyprus was and just googled it- it looks gorgeous! I hope you are able to enjoy some of your time there!
@caseyw8784 - I am 6 days post retrieval and just starting to feel less bloated.
@HottLemonade2886 - I'm so sorry that your PGS results were abnormal. I hope that this next cycle goes more smoothly. Do you have to wait one full normal cycle to start again or are you able to start with your first bleed after your retrieval?

@mtele- Most likely will be able to start when I get AF since I've been on BC since the day after retrieval. They think I'll start stims 3/27. Have a WTF appointment next week to go over everything. Reading that it normally takes 3 months before you notice improvement with supplements I'm kind of wondering if we should wait but the doctor said we should just go into another cycle so I'm going to ask again at the appointment.
@mtele Thank you! I hope that your ET goes well. I'm having an OK time, but I'm a little bored. I'm staying in the city right now, but moving to a hotel on the beach tomorrow. That should be more fun. They have a spa so I'm planning to get massages and pedicures since I can't get acupuncture.
@lizycs congrats on the FET. Is this a day 3 or day 5 transfer for you?
@clovelyone that is a very interesting situation. I wish you the best in Cyprus. Thankfully the process is cheaper in other countries outside of the US so we still have options!
@HottLemonade2886 I'm sorry this cycle didn't work out. I'm hoping that the changes your REI has planned will give you better success.
AFM I heard the good news from the embryo lab that they cancelled the day 3 transfer. 7 embryos are growing appropriately, and the other 2 are dividing still but are behind. We're hoping that we have 5 day 5 embryos. Only time will tell. We'll do the transfer on day 5 if we have more than 3 embryos. Otherwise we'll do a freeze all tackle the fibroids
@lizycs -yay! how many did you transfer? I am in the tww now too.
@SugarHead -that is great news...FX all 5 make it!

Decided to take both Thursday and Friday off of work since they really were pushing for me to have bed rest for at least one day after the transfer. We got a hotel so that I can stay in it close to the clinic rather than drive the 1 hr back to the city.
We are also going out to the countryside on Friday to a farm house (b&b) so me staying up there makes sense because it is on the way.
All 5 of my embryos are growing nicely! Hopefully all 5 will make it to Thursday and we have 2 healthy ones to put in.
So nice to see all these updates! Keep it up ladies, hopefully we get our BFP's soon!

@HottLemonade2886 sorry to hear about your situation. I had a similar outcome. After our first ivf cycle they put my husband on prescription drugs to help with the strength and ability to fertilize. It definitely made a difference this round so hopefully you guys will do something similar and have better luck this next time. They wanted him on it for two months before retrieval.
@PoeMasque I had to pinch my skin pretty firm as a resistance to the ganirelix needles. This is my second round and I had the issue both times...
We had our FET today and I am now bored at home on bed rest for the next 3 days then limited activities for another 4 days after that... Open to suggestions of great books or pass-the-time websites!

@Msymmers922 Thanks for the encouragement. Our only option is to use testicular sperm and that is known to have higher chromosome issues so after googling like a crazy person I'm starting my husband on additional vitamins. Part of me really hope they help but another part of me think it will just come down to luck.
@lizycs and @LoveDontCostAThing right there with you two, thinking of you all, FX for only positive news!!

@SugarHead Thank you! Yes, I'm so glad that there are other options too. I'm happy that your embies are growing strong! I'm hoping and praying for your 5 embies on day 5. I have a small fibroid, but they said it's not in the way. Do you know what type of fibroid it is? I had a few removed last year during my surgery for endometriosis. Mine were subserosal and I had one pedunculated fibroid.
@QsMadd A B&B sounds very nice and relaxing! I'm no doctor, but that sounds like a great idea taking a trip and at least a day or two off from work. It's so nice to hear all of this good news.
@kennyjn Your down time is well deserved after all we're putting our bodies through. Try to relax and let those embies stick
@LoveDontCostAThing We opted to transfer one embryo. I really would like to avoid the possibility of twins. Just too many possible complications. DH and I are also both young and our embryo is of good quality. I did agonize over this decision a bit, but I think it's the right one. We only have 2 frozen embryos, so I'll have another chance if this doesn't pan out.
My doc switched me from progesterone suppositories to intramuscular injection because my progesterone level was too low. I injected the first one two nights ago on my right upper thigh. Now I have this patch of numbness distal to the injection site. I thought I might have hit a nerve, but now I'm experiencing some numbness on my left upper thigh from last night's injection. I think the chances of me hitting a nerve twice in a row is pretty slim. I also did not experience any pain during the injections themselves. Anyone else experience numbness with PIO?
Good luck to everyone who had their transfers!!!! I just heard a friend of mine got her BFP after 2 attempts at IVF so I'm feeling good vibes for all!!
Hi all, Just got a little bit of what i consider good news. I found out that a continuing ed class that I was supposed to go to tomorrow and Friday, and then Monday and Tuesday (4 days, each day 8am-6pm, blah!) has been postponed cause of the 8" of snow Boston got yesterday... Now it's going to be at the end of April. Part of me is annoyed cause I just want to get this class over, but part of me is happy that I don't need to go shovel out my car today. I'm mostly feeling so much better from the ER, but I still get cramps/pressure in the sides and love handle areas...lol. Each morning i measure my waist and weight myself (i'm ocd/paranoid about fluid building up) and both numbers are slowly going down, so i doubt I'm still at risk for OHSS, especially since we're doing a FET. But i was a little anxious about how I would feel sitting at a computer desk for 10 hours a day and not being able to chug gatorade/water and take as many bathroom breaks as needed. Since Sunday I've commandeered DH's cozy easy chair - he's not too happy that I haven't given it back yet! haha!
Happy hump day to everyone! For those who just had transfers, I'll be keeping all the fingers and toes crossed for you, and for those who still have ERs coming up, I hope the follicles are growing nicely!
Got home from ER, feeling super loopy and crampy. They retrieved 30 eggs total, I'll find out tomorrow how many were mature/fertilized. Hoping OHSS stays very very far away from me.
@HottLemonade2886 - My husband's urologist put him on a blend of vitamins for fertility in addition to prescription medications. He's been on them for 3 months and I think they helped with his counts. I think vitamins are one of those things that may not make any difference, but won't hurt to try!
AFM- We ended up with 4 blasts total and are waiting on PGS results. I am glad that we have some, but I was hoping for more. We have an appointment to discuss the cycle next week. I am wondering if they are going to tell us they think sperm quality is the issue. It is a little frustrating because DH's urologist had recommended doing a varicocele surgery, but my RE said it wasn't necessary if we were doing IVF. Now we are both wondering if it might have helped. Anyone here have any experience with success after varicocelectomy?

Not really sure where I belong so I hope you don't mind but I'm going to jump on in since I did start stemming. I see I have a lot to catch up on here, lots of good numbers from many of you congrats!! Hope the good news keeps on coming!
**TW** AFM: I'm on day 3 of stemming and doing EPP, I have Low AMH so hoping this will be my miracle cycle. This is my 4th IVF cycle BUT will be my second ER I hope. My 3rd cycle I did a 3 day transfer of the 3 fertilized eggs I got, I was super lucky and became pregnant with twins and then MC at 10wks in Jan. So really was waiting for my body to get back on board and ready to go...probably why I really waited to join. Just want to get pregnant again ASAP. And unfortunately there are no conclusive answers as to why I MC, we did a bunch. They were perfect and then not. **TW** over
My body acts like it has DOR even though all my levels dont add up to that. My baseline only had an AFC of 4 and 2, so I'm super concerned but I know I need to just try and relax and let the meds work. A year ago I had 14, so its quite upsetting!! I feel like I wasted the months trying IUI and shouldve went straight to IVF!
Are any ladies left stemming?

@Hopeful_mom Welcome! I think some are currently stemming. I already did my 1st cycle the end of Feb with early March ER that ended in no embryos to transfer so I am tentatively starting my second cycle on 3/27 so this board still has much to come. Sorry to hear about your lost. FX you get some great eggs this cycle. Do you plan on doing PGS to test any embryos this cycle?
@HottLemonade2886 hi! sorry about your first cycle, what protocol did u do? I remember at my ER thats all I could think about, did I get an egg. Others get double digits and you're just praying for some. Are you going to try a different protocol this cycle? Usually the boards do 2 months like march/april since we all tend to overlap As for PGS testing, I went through the formality of the meeting so that I can do it for this cycle...I'm still torn. I got pregnant with a fresh transfer so doing the testing means it would have to be an FET which is even a longer wait. I also tested one of the babies I lost and she was perfectly normal...so even with the testing doesn't mean success. My OH really wants it done so I may not have a choice. Heres my other issue, I really want to have twins, I had it and to lose it, I just want it back, as crazy as it may seem to some. IF I do the testing the dr only wants to put back one...they wonder if I MC because I was carrying twins.

Got the call today, 10 were retrieved out of those 10, 6 were mature and all 6 fertilized (using icsi) FX they survive till Saturday!! Praying that they are healthy, good quality!
@Hopeful_mom IF just plain sucks all around. I actually had double digits. We got 14 eggs, 7 fertilized and by day 6 only one blast that was tested and came back abnormal. Hearing at the beginning that everything looked great but by the end that had completely changed was hard to hear. Because of my DH's blockage we can only use aspirated testicular sperm and it turns out that kind of sperm has a higher rate of chromosome issues so even though my eggs are good the sperm seems to not be. I did antagonist the first cycle. I don't know yet if they want to try something knew but they did mention some changes to dosage. Really this row I think we are just adding some vitamins and crossing our fingers hoping for a better sperm sample.
I can understand your mixed feeling on testing. Part of me wants to do a fresh transfer because I hate the waiting but especially after this first unexpected failed cycle the doctor recommended we test again since we have such a high chance of chromosome issues. I personally don't want twins because I don't think my herniated disks in my back could handle it haha but I can understand your loss drawing you into wanting twins again. Do you think your doctor would want to only put one embryo in even if you don't test since you did have the MC?
@Rachel_leigh22 - yay for all 6 fertilizing! This waiting period sucks! I'm not going to find out about mine until Saturday too, although Friday is technically "Day 5"...I guess they'll tell me after the fact about how many were biopsied and frozen... FX for strong fighters!
@Hopeful_mom - welcome! it's good to "see" you again! some on here are still stimming so you're in good company! I know many are in the 3-5 day wait to see how the embryos fertilize and grow, and others are in the 2ww for pgs/pgd testing results, and some are even in the post-transfer 2ww...
AFM, this wait sucks! I wish my RE's office would give more than a Day 1 and a Day 5-6 update on the embryos! I just want to know how many are going to be sent to the genetics lab so I can mentally guess/prepare myself for roughly how many might/hopefully will be normal and good for transfer...grrrr. Patience is not a strong point of mine...one would think that the last year of waiting and delays would have tempered my impatience...
@caseyw8784 I hear ya! I feel like the 5 day wait was the worst wait ever. I did get an update on day 1-3 and then day 6 so got more than you but every day I would be freaking out running it all through my head. I would be driving to work thinking affirmations for my embryos -keep dividing evenly. Haha! FX you get a good update on Saturday!
@HottLemonade2886 - yea, it's interesting how different REs will give different day updates...mine said that they don't like to disturb them (after checking to see how many fertilized) until Day 5-6 when it's time for transfer/biopsy/freeze/etc... I guess it makes sense, but I wonder how much it actually makes a difference since others get more updates and stuff...y'know?
Is anyone else doing PIO post-ER? I'm already dreading the wait till day 5 update, but I think I'm dreading those shots even more!
@Rachel_leigh22 6 is a great number! I would be super happy with that many fertilized. yay!
AFM - we are finally to trigger shot! I have two more hours till I give it, then we will have ER Friday morning. They suggested bringing painkillers with on Friday so that I can take one before the ride home. I haven't really heard anyone on here talk about needing to take anything for pain......but maybe it's just that no one mentioned it? I'm kind of a lightweight when it comes to pain, so hearing that we need a script for vicodin made me worry that the post ER pain is going to be bad!!

@PoeMasque I was just a little fuzzy and crampy after ER. I never even took any of the painkillers. I did have a mild headache the next day so I took 2 Tylenol. The worse physical ache I have is where the put in the IV. My hand is still sore and tender. But I would take it with you just in case!!

@PoeMasque - I told my doctor that if there is any chance I can do anything else instead of PIO, I want that Hate needles, especially big butt needles! Congrats on getting to the trigger! I was given Tylenol by my nurse right after the retrieval, but I didn't really get much pain until a day after, which I suspect was mostly caused by ohss that I did end up with. I recommend staying away from narcs, unless pain becomes really strong - it can cause constipation, and it sucks when you're also bloated and healing down there. I got a script on Day5 after retrieval when doc suspected temp ovaries torsion (from ohss) that started causing crazy pain at night, but it got better right after, so didn't end up taking any.
AFM - got a call from a genetic testing lab (Good Start Genetics, Inc.) asking for a credit card info (it was weird, as I wasn't aware of the cost until this call - $200 per embryo). They said they got the sample yesterday (although our biopsy was done last thursday, I'm on west coast), and the results should be ready by the end of next week. They send the results back to the doctor, so we won't know until our follow up appointment that we just set up to be Thu March 30th. I also emailed the clinic asking to mask the gender

AFM I heard the good news from the embryo lab that they cancelled the day 3 transfer. 7 embryos are growing appropriately, and the other 2 are dividing still but are behind. We're hoping that we have 5 day 5 embryos. Only time will tell. We'll do the transfer on day 5 if we have more than 3 embryos. Otherwise we'll do a freeze all tackle the fibroids

Thanks,
Liz
Just got a little bit of what i consider good news. I found out that a continuing ed class that I was supposed to go to tomorrow and Friday, and then Monday and Tuesday (4 days, each day 8am-6pm, blah!) has been postponed cause of the 8" of snow Boston got yesterday...

AFM: I'm on day 3 of stemming and doing EPP, I have Low AMH so hoping this will be my miracle cycle.

I can understand your mixed feeling on testing. Part of me wants to do a fresh transfer because I hate the waiting but especially after this first unexpected failed cycle the doctor recommended we test again since we have such a high chance of chromosome issues. I personally don't want twins because I don't think my herniated disks in my back could handle it haha but I can understand your loss drawing you into wanting twins again. Do you think your doctor would want to only put one embryo in even if you don't test since you did have the MC?
