AFM, day 5 after ER and I def feel like AF is about to come already. Tomorrow they will be doing the biopsy and freeze. We expect to find out a number on Tuesday... blizzard Tuesday? yes... we are freezing during a blizzard. HA! I assume they will wait to send the samples to testing in NJ til it's safe post-storm, and at that point they will be be holding to test once we go through another retrieval.
5 fertilized and are looking good. Hoping that at least 2 make it to Thursday!
DH just gave me my first PIO injection. I warmed it up first in my heating pad and we used freeze spray on my skin to see how I tolerated without Synera patches. It was ok but darn it is a slow injection. I got some mickey mouse band aids to put on these to help me feel happier when it's done.
I just looked at my clinic instructions and it says bed rest day of transfer but I told my work I'd work 3 hours that day. I would go in about 4 hours after the transfer....should I tell them I can't come in after all? I want to follow all of my clinics instructions but I was also under the impression that you could go back to your normal routine after transfer.

@QsMadd- I'm wondering the same thing. My cousin's doctor had her on bed rest the day of transfer. My doctor said I can go to work since I have a desk job. She even recommended walking/light normal activity. I'd love to hear other people's experiences.
I've been lurking for a while and figured I should say hello. I just took my third shot and I will go in for a scan tomorrow. So far, I'm feeling a little more emotional and have headaches, but I had headaches prior to starting the stims. I'm taking Merional and Femara right now. FX we all have quality embies that stick!
FYI, I'm in Cyprus so I'm about 7 hours ahead of ET time. Also, I'm doing tandem IVF (not offered in the US). For those who don't know, tandem IVF is where both you and an egg donor start stimming at the same time and the doctors regulate the meds so that you both ovulate at the same time. My fiancé's sperm will be injected into all eggs and after 3-5 days we'll choose which embryos to transfer. The RE I had seen in the US suggested donor eggs from the beginning since I have stage 4 endometriosis, I'm 39 and have a low AMH (0.1), but there's no way I'm not going to try my own eggs at least once. I'm trying to be super optimistic and hoping to encourage others. I'm looking forward to leaving here +1
By some Sunday morning miracle I went in the egg retrieval expecting up to 9 eggs from the 9 follicles they saw on ultrasound. When I woke up from sedation I was surprised to find they got 15 eggs!
I don't know how many of those 15 were actually mature. Im waiting today to see if they ended up doing ICSI and how many of those 15 fertilized
@SugarHead - 15 eggs is amazing! yay! and i'm waiting too on the fertilization report....this part of waiting sucks, doesn't it?! i just hope that my RE/nurse won't wait until the end of the day to call with the update!
I think replying to @SugarHead brought me luck...I just got the call! 13 eggs were retrieved, 11 were mature had icsi, and 10 are fertilized and still going strong! But now, no more updates until Saturday 3/18 to find out how many made it to freeze/biopsy... boo.
Just got out of egg retrieval and I feel fine, just crampy like I have my period...they got 10 eggs so I feel like that's pretty good...waiting on the call tomorrow with progress on fertilization! Now time to rest
Yay for all of the awesome ERs! You ladies are giving me hope
we had another monitoring us today and we are up from 4 to 9 measurable follicles! The RE thinks we should have 10 "good ones" at ER this Friday, but that we will likely get about 15 eggs total. We have another us on Wednesday and I'm hoping the smaller (10-14mm follicles from today) will have kept growing.
Anyone else have a ganirelix shot that comes with a blunt tip needle?? It took me two tries to get it through my skin last night, then I had a big red welt for about at hour after.

@SugarHead congrats! I am always curious how they end up getting more eggs than ultrasound follicle count but I guess it doesn't really matter! Congrats!
@caseyw8784 yay for fertilization report! I didn't realize you were doing pgs testing - when will your FET be?

i just got my report as well and t was similar. There were 12 mature eggs and 9 fertilized with ICSI. Tentatively scheduled for a day 3 transfer. But I'm going to talk to my doc this afternoon
This thread is making me happy this morning - all of those eggs retrieved for everyone who went to ER on Sunday! I'm cheering for all of the eggs to fertilize and the embryos to grow!!!

@PoeMasque - I don't know if i had a blunt tip with the cetrotide (ganirelix) but I always felt that the needle was thicker...maybe it was just more blunt instead? That injection side did end up hurting for longer than the gonal-f and menopur, so maybe it was that...
@Rachel_leigh22 - yay on a good ER! that's exactly how i felt when i woke up - crampy like on my period...and now i have some pms-type cramps throughout my abdomen. Nothing really bad though, but still feel bloated. Since they put me on cabergoline, I've been chugging gatorade and spaghettio's and some water, and measuring my waist and weighing myself. i might be a bit OCD/paranoid about it...
@SugarHead - so a 3 day transfer would put you at a wednesday transfer? looking forward to updates on how the embryos do before then!
@mandasand - we are doing PGS since we have to do PGD. I am a single gene disorder carrier, so we have to do ivf to be able to test and only transfer the embryos that don't have the affected gene. We decided to also do PGS since it seemed a bit silly to go through all the more invasive testing, only for the transfer to fail due to chromosomal abnormalities, know what i mean? The testing will take 10-12 days (so they say) so I'm hoping for a mid-April FET. Once I get AF in the next week or so, I'm hoping my RE will let me start the estrace and PIO protocol while the embryos are being tested so we won't have to wait too long and start the FET prep only once we know the results...
@PoeMasque - I did cetrotide, and the look of that needle just plain terrified me! Both Menopure and Gonal-F came with 28G needle 1/2" long. Stupid cetrotide came with 25G 3/4" needle, and a weird syringe that makes it hard to see air bubbles on top. I picked up an extra Menopure injection kit and used that instead I felt so smug, like I defeated the evil needle I also read here that some people mix their meds all together and only do one injection, so ask you RE if that might be ok to do.
Ladies, chug water (and electrolyte drinks) like it's your last chance! Let's keep that urine as clear as possible and ohss far far away

Scheduled for FET tomorrow. Unfortunately, there is a blizzard coming to my area. We got a hotel by the clinic to be safe. Best of luck to everyone in the blizzard area. Stay safe!
Trigger shot tonight at 10PM! RE is worried I will end up with OHSS and has prescribed me with a higher dose of Cabergoline. She has also decided to do a frozen transfer instead.
ER on Wed morning towards the end of this crazy blizzard-phew!
I feel like I should know this but what's the biggest difference between a fresh and frozen transfer?
And how terrible is that trigger shot? My orders say to do it on my arm, I was expecting it to be on my bottom?
I want to thank everyone for the support throughout my journey thus far. TW There was no eggs in my follicles to retrieve. I know my doctor did what he could but it's either I never had eggs or they died because we stemmed too long. We knew there was a risk with my E2 dropping but we had to see it through. There's some closure with this since I know there are other options, donor eggs, embryo adoption or adoption. I will not go through another round of IVF to try again with my eggs. I shed a few tears as soon as the doctor told me in recovery but I'm moving on now. I'm sure I will be sad from time to time but I'm okay.

@KGTG - Good luck! Frozen transfer means that your embryos will be frozen (usually either Day3 or Day5-6), and you won't be adding them back until a cycle after. This gives your body time to recover after this crazy hormonal cycle. While it might be upsetting that you won't get to your tww until a month later, it actually gives you better chances of getting pregnant (or at least the research I found claims that). Also, what triggers ohss are the hormones in your trigger (hCG), which is the same thing your body produces when you get pregnant (and in much bigger amount). So ohss will become much worse if you end up getting pregnant right away. Trigger shot is not bad. Although I did do mine in my butt (my DH did the honors). I think it doesn't matter where it goes, as long as it's IM. Probably a much shorter needle for the arm one.
@mandasand - I'm so sorry to hear about your eggs this sounds heart-breaking. I really hope you'll have better luck with donor eggs/embryos. *hugs*

First and foremost, CONGRATS on all the amazing ERs!!! Everyone had such good news! Yay! So listen to this...I went for blood and ultrasound today 2dp5dt of to blasts, and the ultrasound tech said that I am retaining fluid. Long story short, she said she thinks I mildly hyperstimmed and had them add a hypestim blood test. THEN, as I'm all worried about the fluid she casually says, "Well, your probably pregnant." I was like excuse me...lol. I asked why would fluid indicate that. She said to not hold her to it (of course I won't because I'm already paranoid), but that most of the time this happens in women in her experience they end up pregnant because the hormones are going wacky (I read online the HCG rising) and your cycle not resetting--something...it makes sense on google. I am also exhausted today...all day. I've had mild cramping yesterday and today. I am not getting my hopes up yet since I had the chemical last time. I was actually very shocked that the ultrasound tech would say that! Any thoughts are welcome! Sorry for the novel! Now the nurse just called...they are a little worried about the fluid, but she said I def. could be pregnant and if so, the ohss can get worse...oh boy...always an adventure!
@FuzzyDust -That's funny about the certotide because I had issues too. The needle didn't seem longer to me, but it was sooooo difficult to get out of the bottle. I felt smug too because I ended up thinking to extra q-caps from my menopur and then it came out like a breeze! I was like, "wow, I'm becoming nurse-like!"
@Rachel_leigh22 -My dr. actually tells us to be on light bed rest the day of transfer AND the day after. I still get up and walk around the house, but primarily lay on the couch. I followed their rules--in my opinion, I wouldn't risk it for 3 hours.

@mandasand - I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish I could give you a big hug right now.
I'm feeling a little bummed right now myself. I got the day 5 embryo report and only 2 (of 12 fertilized) of my embryos made it to blastocyst to be biopsied today. Apparently there are 4 more that they will check tomorrow and the other 6 arrested. I am hoping that some of the other 4 will make it to be biopsied tomorrow, but from what I've been googling the embryos that develop into blastocyst at day 6 sound like they are often of inferior quality. Does anyone know what percentage of those embryos that are still dividing at day 5 end up making it to blastocyst at day 6?
I was really hoping for more than 2 because I know that not all embryos will be normal by PGS and not all will successfully implant.

@mtele - keep the hopes up! My 7 fertilized embryos were all still kicking on Day3. Then on Day5 I was told that 5 of them arrested, one will "likely" make it on Day6 and one will "maybe" make it. On Day6 we had 3 (!!!) biopsied and frozen! One of the 'arrested' ones perked back up. I don't think they dispose of any until the very end, so you can still end up with half of more of your initial embryos to make it! GL!

So many highs and lows today. Congrats to everyone that had great retrievals! FX for lots of good Embryo!
@mandasand Sorry to hear they couldn't find any eggs. I know this must be hard for you but continue to stay strong!
@mtele FX for your two and hopefully you hear some good news about the others tomorrow!
AFM I just got the call today that our one embryo was abnormal. From 14 to nothing. They think it's the sperm quality so we will try another round by adding some vitamins for DH and do whatever we can to increase our chances but we could do this all again and have the same results. If the next round also doesn't work I don't see us doing another round. We will probably just end up being the crazy cat couple...oh wait we might already be that.
@HottLemonade2886 - so sorry to hear about your one embryo coming back abnormal. It sucks to end with nothing after such a hopeful retrieval number At least you know sooner, and hopefully your next round goes better! Woot for the crazy cat couples! We're that for sure

@KGTG - i had ended up going to the cvs near me to ask the pharmacist for tips about the trigger shot. He said I could do the arm, the thigh, or the hip/butt area. He said you really can't go wrong with it as long as it gets into the muscle...good luck! I'm curious, what dose of cabergoline did your RE up you to? My Re prescribed me a .5mg dose starting the night of the trigger shot for 7 days.
@lizycs - good luck tomorrow! and be careful driving through all the snow! I think it's a good idea that you guys got a hotel room...I'm hoping that this storm will be a bit of a bust like it was last time in Boston (only got about 1/2 of what they predicted for us...) so good luck! can't wait to hear how it goes!
@mandasand - my heart aches for you! I'm so sorry that they found no eggs. Take all the time you need and please take care of yourself!
@HottLemonade2886 - So sorry for the discouraging news! I'm glad that you and your doctor have already started talking about the next game plan. I've heard that vitamins and stuff can really help with sperm quality, so I'll keep FX that next time you'll have better quality embryos!
AFM, still pretty bloated and a bit crampy. Last night I slept propped up ( i heard that could help) and i woke up and my shoulder was hurting, so that got me worried, but after a couple hours it stopped so i think it was just how i slept. No fever, or "real" weight gain (my RE weighed me before the ER when i was only in a johnny...my sweats and hoodie and all the gatorade/water/soup I've been drinking, I'm sure adds on a few pounds to that...lol!) ...I think most of the cramps is from the constipation...blah!
People who have done an ER previously....how long does the bloating/uncomfortableness last? Is there a certain day that I should check in with my RE to inquire? We're planning on an April FET so I don't have a 5 day transfer as a "deadline"...
Just an FYI. I was calling in my prescription for the crinone gel and I found a savings card online! It is legit because Prime Therapeutics takes it! It is called the Crinone savings program. It brought my co-pay from 150$ to 15$...it also helps cash pay patients as well!

@caseyw8784 - I had ER 10 days ago. First 5 days were the worst! but I did end up with ohss. Bloating has been going down since then, but still definitely not all the way done. I was able to sleep without pain and going numb and after Day5. I'm a belly sleeper, and first 5 days I had to be on my side with hips and shoulders going numb and having to wake up to rotate every half an hour.
I'm curious how much longer I need to wait before I can go back to my martial art classes. Too scared to get an ovary torsion if I try too early...

@caseyw8784 I was taking .5mg a week now I also have to take .5mg a day for 7 days. The .5mg a week was to treat high prolactin levels. I start the full dose a day today, I am hopeful it'll keep OHSS far far away! Question: is it FCNE protocol to wait a month after retrieval for FET?
@KGTG - I'm not in NE, so not sure about FCNE specifics, but from what I've read it's pretty standard to be able to do the FET the very next menstrual cycle after the retrieval.

@KGTG - I'm not sure? I'm hoping that once AF comes in the next week or so, I can start the 10-14 days of estrace...by then, we should know about which of our embryos are PGD+PGS normal, I'd like to get started asap on the FET. I hope that I won't need to wait a full cycle until starting the FET protocol...

@LoveDontCostAThing
@famiylgrl86 WOOHOO!
AFM, day 5 after ER and I def feel like AF is about to come already. Tomorrow they will be doing the biopsy and freeze. We expect to find out a number on Tuesday... blizzard Tuesday? yes... we are freezing during a blizzard. HA!
Sending out the positive vibes to all!
I want to follow all of my clinics instructions but I was also under the impression that you could go back to your normal routine after transfer.

we had another monitoring us today and we are up from 4 to 9 measurable follicles!

Ladies, chug water (and electrolyte drinks) like it's your last chance! Let's keep that urine as clear as possible and ohss far far away

ER on Wed morning towards the end of this crazy blizzard-phew!
I feel like I should know this but what's the biggest difference between a fresh and frozen transfer?
And how terrible is that trigger shot?
Thanks in advance!
TW
There was no eggs in my follicles to retrieve.
