So I know hair falling out was going to happen pp but this much? It just started about a week to two weeks ago. There is no sign of it slowing down. Any of you have this? How long did it last?
Yup. Last time it was pretty bad and it's just starting now. You will begin to grow some new hair after a while too. So get ready for annoying whisps/baby hairs!
@SandNStarsNJ Ok so the 4th leap is the Leap of Events and is present between 14.5 and 19.5 weeks. My LO typically starts her leaps a week early I've noticed. My friends LO was born 3 weeks early and goes through her leaps based off of her due date not the day she was born. Every child is different. The first phase of this leap (14-17 weeks) is the fussy phase. The second phase starts around 19 weeks and is when they start using their new skills. I haven't read the whole chapter yet but here are the major points. This leap is way longer than the previous 3.
Signs your baby is going through this leap: Cries more often and cranky Want your attention Needs more support for head again Wants more physical contact Sleeps poorly Loses appetite More shy with strangers Is quieter, less vocal, and less active Sucks their thumb/hands
After this leap your baby be able to (not every baby does everything): Be more active Grasp things better Put their hand in their mouth Pulls things away from their face Hits toys down on surfaces Looks for mom and dad Reacts to themselves in the mirror Responds to their name Uses consonants Pushes away when full Grumbles when impatient
How in the WORLD does everyone manage it all?!!!! 4th week back at work and it's just crazy. I feel like a bad wife, mother, teacher because it's just too much. I'm in a routine but how does everyone handle it? I feel like I'm going a thousand miles a minute and am constantly thinking about my long to do list.
@anne11716 - To some extent you never do "handle" so much as find a new normal. I am also a teacher and haven't returned to work with this one yet but remember my first return all to well. I started prioritizing what mattered most me: I made my prep periods pumping and grading/prepping and didn't fully socialize with my colleagues anymore. I stopped bringing work home on weekdays and reserved almost all of it for Sunday afternoon. On my way home I'd pick up LO and be on the floor with her playing every minute she wasn't nursing. I am also very fortunate that DH and I agreed to the "you keep me alive and I'll keep the kids alive" dinner arrangement so he cooks. The downside is that the whole first year back I didn't really take care of myself. It took summer for me to figure something more manageable; it also helped that I was finished nursing.

I make a new To Do List everyday on my break at work (I did this before LO too). When I get home my focus is on LO. Once she naps and/or goes down for the night I am like a mad woman trying to get as much done off my list as possible. I definitely do not get everything done every day. The things that are commonly on the bottom of the list currently are my animals , cooking nice dinners, cleaning (other than the basic straightening up), sex, spending time with friends (unless they come to me). Before LO I would always come home and do a bunch of stuff around the house and not really relax until bed anyways. It's basically the same but I am staying up much later now and getting up sooner.
Talk to me about the next leap. What's to be expected? LO is changing so much!
Oh my, I am going through this now. I kept saying how she used to sleep so much better and how she is fussy all the time. Then I realized she was in the middle of the leap. She wants constant attention and fights naps like crazy. I'm even holding her go sleep and she still fights.
I hope S is is over this at 19.5 weeks. She's 18 weeks now and H just thinks I spoil her and hats why she whines so much. I try to tell him she's too young to be spoiled and there is a reason why she's acting like this. He has too many old school people in his ear. All they know to say is a kid is spoiled.
@m6agua Thanks for sharing that. I can show H so he knows I'm not full of crap.
