Mmm, I love dirty chai's especially from my favorite local coffee shop. As I was making my coffee this morning I was thinking how I feel people are really way too judgey of women drinking caffeine during pregnancy. I've limited my caffeine, a lot...but 'cmon!
This might be a strange FFFC, but I don't want to talk about baby stuff with DH until after viability at 24 weeks (next Fri). I'm not really superstitious, but DH wants to talk about things like who will stay with DD when baby comes, car seats, and registries (for the completion discount). I've been avoiding the topics for now and will be more open to talking about them when we hit that point.

I honestly just hate people today. I was derailed from getting to work on time because the route with 2 lanes of traffic and pretty much the only way to get into new haven from the direction I came was blocked off from an accident and moving two lanes of traffic into rural neighborhood roads with people parked on both sides of the street was a nightmare (just got off a warning at work for attendance so I totally don't need lates on my record now that I am done. Lates count as 3 points absences are 5 and we can only have 20 points in a year before the warnings start.) Also I did just like @Kipperoo and complained about another thing that made me very upset with people in the random thread too. I just want to curl up in the dark at home with popcorn and a heavy blanket and watch whatever I want alone. No husband/ toddler or dogs! I want the whole bed to myself! I also like scaldingly hot baths and havent taken one in sooo long with being pregnant in 2015 and now and then having a young one I felt guilty leaving dh down with baby to take a bath. I want to so bad but know its def no bueno for little dd. I'm such a complainer today I am sorry guys

Oh...yes, I've limited my caffeine, too. My doctor basically told me to cut back to a reasonable amount given that I was normally drinking 3-4 iced coffees a day, she said 1-2 was totally fine. I switched to dirty chais (from my regular morning iced coffee) because the doc said mixing the caffeine with more milk and drinking over a longer period of time helped to slow the release of caffeine into my blood stream. Plus, I just love them.
@Yiggle09 , I'm with you. I just seriously dislike everyone today. Except you guys, of course. :-)

Speaking of this, how hot is too hot for a bath? I thought the main problem was making sure your core body temp doesn't get too high, which is why hot tubs are a no go. I like really hot baths, but I always leave a portion of myself out of the tub and a window cracked, because I don't like getting sweaty during the bath. I dunno. I haven't taken one in a while, but started wondering about water temp.

Oh god those women drive me absolutely bonkers. The hypervigilant obsessive car seat nazi might be one of my biggest mom type pet peeves.
My FFFC: I just had an epic toddler style crying meltdown. Work is kicking my ass lately and I hate feeling overwhelmed and stupid. I had to redo all my makeup because I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and can't look like a crazy crying lady.
@WombThereItIs , that really sucks. There is almost nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed at work and the pregnancy hormones obviously don't help. (I am not a crier and starting crying this morning thinking about something really stupid.) Good luck at your doctors appointment and fingers crossed work eases up on you soon.
@starphish18 I usually get all red so I know its too hot for anyone let alone a baby but dr google says It's fine to take baths while you're pregnant as long as the water isn't too hot. Avoid soaking in water that's hot enough to raise your body temperature higher than 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 10 minutes.
CSFTL: I love following that group and I try to predict what the comments will be before I open them. I figure it's a win/win if I can learn a little more car seat safety while enjoying snark.
Baths: I take them as often as I want while pregnant. I don't fill the tub much above my legs/waist and make sure I don't get too sweaty.
Caffiene: I'm sad that my tolerance has completely disappeared. If I have one small full-caf latte, I get way too hyper. So I'm begrudgingly full time decaf for now.
@Yiggle09 So, if the water was quite hot, but my whole body doesn't get above 102, that's probably OK? Like @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot mentioned, I either leave my upper body out of the water, or if I want to soak my back, I leave my legs out. So, I don't feel like my overall temp gets high.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot Yup! I'm like oh I got this one figured out, then a tech comes in and I'm like "oh yeah!" or "Oh, I didn't even notice that". I'm a carseat nazi and some of the stuff im just like omg how did you not know?! One thing I'm not all on board with is the "required" carseats on planes though. If your destination has a safe carseat I don't think your 6 month old needs their own seat on the plane.
@OmegaRose3 Yeaaaaa, I kind of suck at that. Ridiculous because I was great at taking my "reproductive health" gummies before pregnancy. So bad. I've started keeping a stash at work and home so I see them more.

This is the part of that page that drives me nuts. They constantly bash on how your child is so much safer in a car seat than on your lap on an airplane. I'm sorry, maybe I'm a pessimist but I come from a family with an aviation background and my pilot dad even agrees with me... if the plane is going down, a car seat isn't going to save anyone.
Maybe that's my FFFC... car seats for an infant on an airplane are pointless. I gladly save the airfare for my child under 2 and make them a lap child as long as possible.

@nda_roxybabe , I haven't checked out this FB group, but now I kinda want to just for laughs. I'm one of "those people" that buys a seat for my under 2 year old on the plane. HOWEVER, this was after one very long cross country plane ride with our 4 month old. It was completely miserable having him on top of us the full 5 hours on an already cramped plane. Plus there was just no room to do ANYTHING. We flew with him a few times since then with the car seat (up until around 1.5), mostly because we found he would nap easier there and it kept him somewhat restrained. Some people can do air travel without the extra seat--I am incredibly jealous of those people. I find travel difficult enough even with an extra seat for the under 2 kiddo, but maybe I'm just not very good at air travel, haha...

Having been in some rough turbulence, I would be completely on board w/ a car seat on a plane if I didn't have to pay for a seat for a kid under 2. I never bought a separate seat for DD until she turned 2. It actually pisses me off that the FAA supposedly recommends car seats for babies, but the airlines charge full adult price for a seat for them. So basically, I get the reasoning and I ignore it. Now that DD is over 2, I bring her car seat on the plane if DH is with me to do the install. It makes our life so much better because I'm not confident she would sit still in her own seat for the entire duration of a flight otherwise.
@Kipperoo I also bought seats under 2. Not because it's safer or whatever (I agree if it goes down we are all effed!) but because I needed a place to put the baby! Holding gets so uncomfortable and he slept like a champ in the car seat compared to any other way his first year. Even recently I got him to conk out for 2 hours on our last trip because takeoff + car seat = sleepy magic. He was over 2 then but still.
@WombThereItIs , 2 hours of sleep on a plane is seriously a gift greater than gold. It's happened for us a couple of times with my son and I've wanted to squeal with happiness but instead just nervously stare at him hoping that he doesn't wake up. I HAAAATE air travel with a child under 2. I'd rather speak publicly in my underwear about a topic I don't understand than fly with a baby.
Now that both of my girls are over 2 and I have to pay for their own seat anyways we get a whole row, so that does make it much easier as we have our own space! I guess I'm just that weirdo that doesn't mind traveling with kids (I go by myself with the kids and no DH probably 4 times a year). BUT my flights are 3 hours max at the moment so I'd probably feel differently if it was longer.

I actually wonder if it wouldn't be SO bad now that my son is nearly 2.5. I think I could at least distract him with a movie or something for a large chunk of time. We haven't traveled with him since a few months before he turned 2, but his attention span was so limited and hard to predict...we were whipping out new activities every 10 minutes for like 5 hours. Exhausting.
re baths: I take pretty hot baths, I know the water has to be above 98 and it def goes over my belly... HOWEVER i make it just to the point where it doesn't make me too red... and I don't know about everyone else but my water wont stay that hot in the tub for too long. So I really don't worry. If i'm not sweating to me its fine.
My 2 FFFCs.... 1. I'm having a pure romance party at my house this weekend and 2. I've spent more time planning out things for that, then I have working. I'm currently making my grocery list
@BeachMommy2B Pardon my ignorance, but what is a pure romance party?
@nda_roxybabe It's so bad this time...I was on top of it last pregnancy and this time I just can't seem to remember
RE: baths...I still take hot baths, I get lightheaded in the shower so I usually just shower when I need to wash my hair, but I think as long as you aren't breaking a sweat or get heavily flushed you're ok
My FFFC: I just had an epic toddler style crying meltdown. Work is kicking my ass lately and I hate feeling overwhelmed and stupid. I had to redo all my makeup because I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and can't look like a crazy crying lady.
Word. I'm falling way behind on my work to-do's for today and now it's 4pm and I'm like eff it, but I still feel awful and completely unproductive, and THEN I feel even more awful and guilty for feeling that way in the first place. I can't win!
Daughter's birthday party is tomorrow. I should be cleaning the bathroom right now but instead I'm going to see if I can convince husband to do it tonight. And if he doesn't want to, we will probably just have a gross bathroom tomorrow when everyone comes over.
Do you mean she hasn't had one at all or you haven't administered it? No judgment either way. If it's the latter, I wanted to comment that bath time is my least favorite part of parenting routine. I know some people love it. I don't and it's worse when pregnant.

Agreed! It takes forever, they splash and get everything wet, kids are crying over water in their eyes, lotion, combing hair... I despise bath time.

Oh man I love bath time. Mama needs a break - hey girl, want a bath? The answer is always yes and I get 45 min of relative peace. My DD is 4 and I leave the door open so I can hear her. And I do a good wash maybe once a week. Otherwise, have at it!
Haha the last time she has had one in general. I'm giving her one tomorrow, but all of the sudden she hates baths. It's super annoying and I haven't had the energy to deal and she isn't super gross or anything. But still, it may have been two weeks. She SCREAMS as if I'm murdering her. It's not like some tramatic event has happened. She just went from a garden tub where she could basically swim around to a normal sized tub and is apparently super pissed about it.
I love the CSFTL group. They do feel very judgemental when it comes to flying. We did a couple of cross country flights when DD was an immobile infant but when she started walking and moving more I had to get her her own seat anytime it was just me and her. She was not a good coflyer especially considering our flights were 4hr each way. She didnt nap either but she was MUCH more cooperative in her own carseat than as a lap child.

How old is she? We convinced my son showering was super fun a little before his second birthday and we haven't done a bath in probably 5 months? It is AMAZING! One of us usually gets in with him but it's faster and no toys or dumping water out and you are way more comfortable than sitting on the floor next to a tub.
Also now that I have been playing the pregnancy card (for no real reason) my husband showers him. I highly recommend it.
@OmegaRose3 pure romance is badiclly a "sex toy" party. It's like pampered chef, or scentsy where a consultant does a party. Except the items sold are bath/beauty products, lingerie, or sex toys
re baths: we have been slacking in the bath department too. We try for every other night. I get her in and wash hair and scrub right away then I sit on my bed for a good 20-30 min while she plays in the tub. Then we have to blow dry her hair. We had a lice scare at daycare and read heat helps kill them/their eggs and keeps them away
