This may be either a UO or a FFTC, but we kicked bubs out very early for three reasons. She was a loud sleeper, we had a tiny bedroom, and her spot in her nursery was literally 10 feet further away than the one in our room. And we kept the doors open.
And like others have said, we used the nursery for diaper changes, glider time, and the ever important monthly photo shoots, too. I also would not have wanted to try to set up a nursery during the newborn stage.
So plan on, ladies. Enjoy the nesting.
DS too. 3 weeks old and he went to his crib in the room next door. Same reasons. We used the nursery all. the. time.
As soon as the nursery was ready at 10 weeks homegirl was in there. She was noisy. And was a light sleeper so as soon as she woke me up, she'd wake up. And want to eat. And then I'd have to pump.
First night in the nursery she slept through the night and we never looked back.
This time around is a bit more challenging as DD is still in the nursery so we have to clean out and paint her room, as well as get her transitioned out of a crib. I'm looking to do that before the baby comes so it's not as much of a shell shock at once. We have a toddler bed so now it's just about getting the room cleaned out.

My husband just threw the grill across the backyard.... He's been trying to fix his car for 2 weeks, so we've been sharing mine. The dealership said its $900 to do the job but so far my husband has spent less than $100 and was supposed to be done today. He realized about an hour ago that he can't put it back together without taking out major parts of the car... so he threw the grill across the yard. He's never violent and rarely loses his patience so I just went in the house to give him space.

Our little one will most likely be in the nursery right away. My hubby snores, sometimes quite loudly, and sometimes I end up sleeping on the couch. Having the baby in our bedroom wouldn't be helpful during those nights.
We're waiting until March to set up the nursery, and it's killing me! Please share your ideas. I haven't found anything I really liked yet.
This is an aside, but I noticed that there are no outdated, unrelated or unnecessary threads pinned to or board now! This makes me happy.
On another note, I had an annual physical done through work (my firm makes partners get one every year) and as part of the regular check they do a thorough ultrasound - usually to check all organs are where they should be, operating as they should, etc. I was super excited today as it meant another sneak peek at baby so when the tech asked if I wanted a picture printed I said yes - she then printed a picture of baby's back. I mean you can see the spinal cord which is cool I guess but nothing else. So random.
So my grandmother stopped over unannounced this morning, which is fine except that she knocked once and I guess I didn't answer quickly enough so she just walked in. I'm glad I actually had pants on this morning....

Every time I try to open a thread with a lot of photos in it on my phone, my Bump app shuts down. I can only look at HDBD from my (work-issued) computer, which means I have to trust you bishes to keep your clothes on.
@mj8215 haven't seen that but I need a laugh so I'll look into it
I've been a little quiet around here the past few days. Visited my family last Thursday and my mom had not informed me that they had a cold going around over there so my daughter, then my husband, and now me, have all gotten sick. Ugh. My daughters first cold in her 17 months of life. Was hard on me since I am not used to seeing her sick.
We have a 1 yr olds birthday party to go to next Saturday and I had no idea what you take as a gift for that sort of thing? I just ordered her 2 pairs of leggings, 2 sweaters, and a pair of jeans from the gap. Do you guys think that's an appropriate gift? Or will her mom be annoyed at receiving clothes as a gift?
We have been remodeling a home we bought back in September and we finally had enough with our contractor and hired a new one that starts tomorrow. Here's hoping this guy actually shows up and gets things done. Stressful ordeal this home renovating stuff.
And lastly (sorry for the novel), I have a GTT plus a normal appointment tomorrow and I have nobody to watch my daughter. So I'll have to wake her up in the morning and take her along. I am nervous about how she is going to behave when I'm tied up getting blood drawn or being examined by the midwife. So stressed out in anticipation of this appointment.

@yellow1daisy I'm sorry, HOW THE HECK has your daughter never had a cold in her life until now. Wow! That is one tough immune system. From October-March we have more sick days than healthy days over here. Daycare is a cesspool.

Lol @dancegurl1118 the trick is to stay home and not see people much
I'm a SAHM so no daycare and besides seeing family we don't get out very much. We've definitely been lucky though (example--a little breakout of Hand foot and mouth disease originating from my daughters first birthday party that somehow skipped us). She'll probably make up for it and thensome when she gets older. Your kiddo is getting all those antibodies nice and early!

@yellow1daisy We just celebrated my son's first birthday and several people gave him clothes. We were very appreciative! People receive tons of clothes for when they're tiny and move through sizes quickly-- I'm sure she'll be happy to have some nice options in a size that will fit her for a while! And if she's not, I definitely think it's her problem and not yours
Has anyone ever purchased a backyard play set? Like a swing set? We finally have a big enough yard to get one, but the internet hasn't been terribly helpful in helping me shop for this. There are a couple of places that sell play equipment and also let you come play on them in an indoor playground. But they don't have any info on their website about prices or options. And then I know you can get one from like Menards, but I don't think we will be able to put it together on our own. Are there other places I should be looking?
@yellow1daisy I agree with pp on clothes being a great gift! For our DS' first birthday several people gave us clothes and I actually wish we got more clothes for him at a Christmas too because he grows out of them so fast and frankly I'm sick of all the tiys around the house. Most people gave one cute outfit and my only recommendation would be to get a size up plus a gift receipt - oh and try to avoid character-based clothes. We got a Mickey Mouse outfit which was cute enough but my husband hates Mickey and so would never dress him in it!
@yellow1daisy I love getting clothes for my kids, especially if they are any brand other then carter's or jumping beans (I love these brands but they are the most readily available by me and we end up with multiples)
@AdaByron we have a playset from home Depot, it's really nice, DH and much dad put it together it did take about 12 hours and we also sealed it. I have a friend who got a similar set from toys r us and paid extra to have them assemble it.
My random is that I just can't believe I'm going to have 4 kids under 4. We planned our pregnancy but now that it's real I feel like maybe we are crazy. All our kids were generally good babies, they had "witching" hours and some fussiness but no real colic or allergies and I'm just scared that this one will and I will be home with 4 kids. I also feel bad for my oldest, he has had to adapt to life with twins and while he is excited for the new baby I know it's going to be another big adjustment.

@yellow1daisy I'm sorry everyone is sick! My LO has only been sick(cold) a few times at 16 months but it's horrible to see them so miserable!! The last cold we all had recently, I swear I got it twice! Also, clothes are a great gift!!!
The internet is failing me as per usual. I'm only using disposable diapers for about the first two weeks, just to make my life a little easier in the beginning. I know the average is 10-14 diapers a day for newborns, but does this count for those first couple days before my milk comes in? Basically, if I'm only buying enough disposables for the first two weeks, how many diapers do I really need?

I am not really sure how many you will need, but two things to note -
1) take as many newborn diapers from the hospital as possible. Literally every time they refill them, put them in your bag. 2) I believe target will let you return unopened boxes for store credit so it's OK to overbuy just to be safe.
@kerils my friend who used cloth diapers had to use disposable for about a month until her daughter got a little bigger, even the smallest size she had didn't fit. I have no experience with cloth diapering myself, but my newborns early went through 10-15 a day in the beginning
@AdaByron depending on where you live you can search craigslist or the local facebook buy/sell/trade pages - you'd be surprised how many people are trying to unload a playset - sometimes for free as long as you haul it away. I'd also search any woodworkers shops - we have people around here that make garden furniture, playsets, playhouses and such and you just go pick it up from their farm/shop. Usually pretty reasonable.
@kerils you may want to just load up on newborn diapers at the hospital and buy some size 1. My second was out of newborns before he was born and when you take into account rolling down the top part of the diaper for the umbilical cord the extra room is nice. Just a thought
My son went through a minimum of 15 diapers per day. He never wore Newborn size, started in 1. We went through a "six month supply of wipes" in less than a month.
I remember this vividly because I was worried we were doing something wrong. It may depend on your baby's personality. My son would cry at the slightest wetness in his diaper, in addition to all the poops.
I had no idea Costco had playsets. Actually, I should have known that because there used to be one in the middle of our store. This could save us a lot of money if my H can find someone to help him put it together.
@AdaByron we have a playset from home Depot, it's really nice, DH and much dad put it together it did take about 12 hours and we also sealed it. I have a friend who got a similar set from toys r us and paid extra to have them assemble it.
I'm not sure we're up for 12 hours of assembly. Especially since we will only have weekends to work on it, and then we have to plan around the weather. I have a feeling we'll end up ordering from a specialty place just so we can pay someone else to build it.
@kerils I agree with the above that some places will let you return unopened packs of diapers and you could always give any leftovers away to a friend.
DD was 6lb 13oz and her skinny little legs wouldn't work with even my newborn size cloth diapers for a little over a month. If their legs are too skinny, they just pee through the leg holes. I was constantly doing laundry before I just decided to do disposables until she got some chunk going.
If you plan for 12 disposables a day in the beginning you will probably be somewhere in that ballpark.

ETA also, if someone is annoyed at receiving something for a gift, that person can go eff themselves.
