  • @Hopeful_mom -I am excited and nervous!!!  I've done the pineapple core thing in the past, where I cut the core into 5 equal pieces, eating each day.  I'm not doing it this time...I feel like I've tried all the "tricks," which has been part of my google obsession/ problem lol...I am just going to let it be, and keep talking to women on here :)  My first transfer I drank way too much water too, and they let me pee some!!

The rest are still growing, but they will only freeze blasts.  They will call me today or tomorrow about the freeze number...she estimated 4.

You will find this funny since husbands are funny...my DH has always been into race cars, and has driven a few times.  His dad used to race.  Anyway, right now there is a racecar being unloaded down my driveway.  Hey, marriage is compromise, right? LOL I told him if he supports continuing with IVF I'll support his racecar dream....I was against it before, worried he will crash and die.  As you can see, I tend to think the worst!!!

@LoveDontCostAThing you're a good woman thats for sure!!  AND I think once he sees his bean he will be all about it.  I understand OH has kids so for him it just doesn't mean the same I think.  And when I want to talk about the loss or I'm upset about it I can tell that he wants no part of it.  He does have a motorcycle and I'm glad right now he's too busy to ride.  I have enough stress I dont need anymore. I'm glad ur relaxing and taking it easy.  I did everything the first transfer too...and for me I can't say it didn't help ;) we all look for something.  Keep relaxing and just take it easy....and warm.  Your bean want to get comfy cozy in a welcoming uterus :)

@littledarlins I think its suppose to be 2 weeks but not sure since i've only been through a fresh transfer so far.

    @Prudence9 how r u doing?

One thing my clinic doesn't seem to give are pics of the embryos, I even asked but they just said we dont do that hmmmmm...

  • Hey Ladies!  Got the call today about freezing...5 blasts made it to freeze!  I am very pleased.  That means 7 total blasts.  This cycle was much better than my first IVF.

@Hopeful_mom - I think you're right about my DH...I think once this works and he meets a baby or I am pregnant that he will be much more excited.  When I was very briefly pregnant with the chemical, he was very happy, which made me feel better about his attitude towards it all.  Overall, this is just so stressful for everyone going through it.  And hopefully your OH will feel happy too once he sees the baby...I'm sorry he won't talk about the MC...men are different with all this stuff.  It's not their body going through it.  Since he has other kids, that must be hard.  He must have known from the beginning that you wanted kids, so hopefully he comes around.  You can talk to us in the mean time!

@littledarlins -you got a picture too?  yay, it is exciting!  It's so cool to think of these little embryos as potential life!

@Prudence9 -thinking of you..hope you're hanging in there the best you can!

@LoveDontCostAThing that is SUPER awesome, you should be delighted!!  WHat protocol did you do this round? how are you feeling?  The process sucks, who ever thought I would get excited about giving shots to myself...i guess for now its a sign of hope...OH is very removed from it, losing the twins has taken its toll on me.. He wasn't at the US with me, he didn't talk to them the way i did everyday...it was such a different experience, and I can't lie and say I'm not mad at it...why at times I do feel like i'm going through it alone.  And bringing it up will only make us argue as we weren't pass the first full trimester, like it doesn't count...which obviously infuriates me, I saw toes wiggle. He travels a lot with work and even though I have a sample on ice (as he ruined a previous cycle that i had a better response too since he didn't make it back in time) but it still gives me stress that he wont be around when I need.

@Prudence9 how r u feeling physically?  no pain?  Its great if you're not, mine was excruciating, I only started to heal after a D&C first 10days later...I was almost 10wks which probably makes it different.  Just make sure you dont go through unnecessary pain.  Are you in NY?  The big storm is coming tuesday so maybe you should try and go on monday??

AFM: AF is here so tomorrow I will go in for my baseline and see whats in store.  My dr called today and when I looked at the phone I first thought they were calling to confirm my appt...thats in my head.  I knew AF was on its way so I answered the phone 1/2 a sleep and then to my surprise it was my dr..on a sunday.  This must've been her weekend, she was following up with my blood results which I should be happy came back normal, didn't show anything that wouldve caused the MC.  She did mention I have the
MTHFR gene which she said 50% of woman have it.  Originally they thought maybe it could cause MC but that no longer seem to be the case.  She also knows me and told me that google will have things that are not accurate so I shouldn't become obsessed..who me HAHA!!!  Trying so hard to stay positive and then i'm just nervous I want get good news...not a good way to be going in I know.  Its a lil hard to not feel that way...

  • @hopeful_mom -As I've learned on this site, I think mine would be an antagonist protocol.  I did gonal-F and menopur, added cetrotide later to prevent ovulation.  Ohh, and you mentioned the storm...I live in NJ and teach in Philly...we are already off tomorrow, so I can relax thankfully!  I am exhausted.  Below is my update that I also posted on the March IVF thread:

So listen to this...I went for blood and ultrasound today 2dp5dt of to blasts, and the ultrasound tech said that I am retaining fluid.  Long story short, she said she thinks I mildly hyperstimmed and had then added a hypestim blood test.  THEN, as I'm all worried about the fluid she casually says, "Well, your probably pregnant."  I was like excuse me...lol.  I asked why would fluid indicate that.  She said to not hold her to it (of course I won't because I'm already paranoid), but that most of the time when she sees this happen in women they end up pregnant because the hormones are going wacky (I read online the HCG rising) and your cycle not resetting--something...it makes sense on google.  I am also exhausted today...all day.  I've had mild cramping yesterday and today.  I am not getting my hopes up yet since I had the chemical last time.  I was actually very shocked that the ultrasound tech would say that!

Then, the nurse called when I got home, which isn't usual for them to call so quickly.  They are a little worried about the fluid, but she said I def. could be pregnant and if so, the ohss can get worse...so she told me to drink LOTS of water/ gatorade and keeping peeing a lot, eat egg whites, and go to the ER if I can't breathe...but then she said not to worry LOL.  She made sure I took my lupron shot and upped my progesterone.  TIME WILL TELL.

  • @Prudence9 -I think I have mild ohss.  I am on crinone 2x per day (morning and night) and just added oral progesterone 200mg before bedtime.  In the past I had an allergic reaction to PIO shots...thank god because I HATED them.

Of course I googled this ohss and pregnancy after transfer.  Apparently, it's a common symptom if you become pregnant after transfer.  It said, "If a pregnancy does result after embryo transfer, there is an outpouring of hCG and the OHSS symptoms worsen dramatically."  Then, I read all these different threads of women saying it's a good pregnancy sign...omg I need to stop googling because who really knows!  But the nurse seemed to think it was a good possibility and upped my progesterone.  She also told me I need to make sure to drink tons of gatorade and water and keep peeing to stay on top of it.

  • @LoveDontCostAThing what type of allergic reaction did you get from PIO? For the last 1.5 weeks I have burning sensations on my outer upper thighs. (I stopped with the shots a week ago)

I hope all these signs are correct and that you are pregnant! Drink lots of water and take it easy! When is your beta?

  • @Prudence9 -Do you give yourself the shot on your thighs?  I did mine on the outer butt area.  At first it was just the normal, annoying, terrible welts.  Then, towards the end of the shots and also, like you, a week after, I had this terribly itchy rash all around the injection site.  I wanted to itch my butt off LOL.  I read you can be allergic to the sesame oil or whatever it is in.

  • Hello, I'm sorry for interrupting, but I was hoping for some advice. I'm currently going through a divorce. We started fertility treatments months ago so now I'm considering continuing on my own. Its a really big decision and everyone keeps telling me to wait until I find someone new, but after trying for three years the thought of waiting for an unknown amount of time really upsets me. How did you guys decide to do it on your own?
  • @BlackRose It's a very personal decision, for me it was no brainer, I'm 41 y/o, if I wait any longer, I may never give birth...

  • @prudence9 I'm only 23 that's why everyone says to wait, but honestly I don't think I want to.
  • @BlackRose it's very personal decision... when I was 23, I was still in school with no income... I know it would have been very difficult to support a baby at that time, also at the time my priorities were more towards getting ahead in my professional life. And I think to have a baby on my own back then would have been tough. Not impossible, but very difficult... Also probably not dating for at least 1-2 years following the birth of the baby... I also live very far from my family, so baby on my own, really means on my own...

But right now, I'm at a totally different point in my life and this is my #1 priority, even if it is going to come at the expense of other things...

Very personal decision, you are the only one who can answer this question for yourself...

Back from the dr appt, no heartbeat this time.

We decided to wait one more week for a natural miscarriage. But if that doesn't happen, have MVA next week. From what I understand MVA is like a mini D&C?

I can still change my mind and go with the pill... but after reading about it, it really freaks me out.

  • @prudence9 so sorry to see this update!  Its very hard when it has to take even longer.  For me the pill just caused more pain and didn't help everything and still needed the d&c.  I would just go straight to that if you can.  sending u hugs!  And your advice to @blackrose it spot on!!  Couldn't have said it better myself!!  My OH he wants to wait a cycle since things are a bit crazy at the moment for us and I reminded him this is finally my priority and if my body is ready to go then so are we ;)

@Blackrose i do understand your want and sorry your marriage is ending but you truly are so young you do have time to take a beat and really decide.  I wanted to have a child sooner in life but also wanted it to be with someone I adore then anything...I just had to wait quite some time to find it.  Did you start the process of IVF with your ex and you have embabies or you're looking to use donor sperm?

@LoveDontCostAThing hey mama, i think you've got a miracle happening :) Slight cramping here and there is the ticket.  Sorry about all this fluid, hoping its not causing too much pain!  I will say if they thought you had any OHSS they wouldn't usually do a fresh transfer.  Are you going to POAS prior?  I did the night before my beta cause I think I just had to know and prepare myself.  This week will fly by...at least I hope for you ;)

AFM:  I didnt sleep a wink going in for my baseline, you think I was headed in for ER.  I was super anxious I guess.  SO I asked what the AFC was and she saw 2 on the right and 4 on the left.  A year ago I had 8 and 6, so I'm just so confused how it can be so much less.  Even if each one gives me one that would still be better then I have had before.  I find myself way more unsettled this time, just not sure why.  Its over a year now and they re did all my blood work, besides just checking my levels.  I was happy to get the go ahead to start as my levels were on point and everything looked good.  The only concern was my levels for my thyroid, it was 2.5 and then 34, they said its suppose to be under 26.  Now this could explain my more anxious feeling BUT I've gained so much weight so seriously that makes even less sense to me  :s  I was a little out of practice with my shots last night I was making a mess!!  Hoping I can get a bunch of my golden eggs!!!

  • @Hopeful_mom so you got the go for an ivf cycle? That's great!!! And I'm sure soon enough you'll be in the habit of doing the injections. (It's like riding a bike  :p )

I'm not sure if they checked my thyroids levels. And this might have been the cause why the embryo stopped growing. As it was a PGS tested normal embryo... they will have to check alll that for me next time.

They just called me. I'm scheduled for the MVA on Monday. I will not do the pill. Just the thought of it freaks me out. But I do hope that maybe I'll have a natural miscarriage by Monday.

  • @Prudence9 -I am so sorry for what you're going through.  It must have made it that much more difficult to see the no heartbeat on the screen.  How far along were you?  Not that it matters in the sense of it being a hard time, just curious.  You have to do what makes the most sense to you at this difficult time...if the pill freaks you out, don't do it.  It's one little thing you have control over :)

@Hopeful_mom -heyyy...yes, I have on/ off mild cramping and dull/ heavyish feeling in my uterus.  I was pretty much tired all day yesterday and today even though today I had off from the snow and literally did barely anything.  I think my last blood/ ultrasound prior to ER is a few days prior, so no ohss then, but the ultrasound tech said that if I had two ovaries I would definitely hyper stim.  Then, they don't have you come in between ER and transfer, which is a nice "break," but perhaps they should!!  Essentially, there was probably a week between ultrasounds with ER and transfer in between.  I was a bit shocked about the fluid too, but it made sense because I was soooooo bloated that my leggings felt tight!  I barely peed yesterday.  Today I am still bloated, but not as bad because I am doing what the nurse told me to do to try to not make it worse.  I will definitely POAS prior.  My first FET I didn't and it was devastating news, so I knew going forward I would to mentally prepare.  I did last time when I had the CP, so that was false hope.  I don't know when I should do it...I'm scared.  By the way, my AFC was 8 I think, and I ended up with 12...so you never know!

  • @LoveDontCostAThing When I was 6w 4d they said the embryo is 3 days behind and that the heartbeat is a little low. Then, a week later they said, still very low heartbeat but the embryo hasn't grown. So at that point I was already told it was not going to be a viable pregnancy and was told to stop injections and wait for m/c... that was a week ago... today, no heartbeat and still no m/c.... but the dr is hoping that maybe if we wait a little longer I will have a natural m/c... which is why we scheduled the procedure for next week and not this week.

The snow came at the right time for you... good to have a day off to rest... :)

Drink-Drink-Drink! Electrolytes-rich liquids! To a point when you pee every half an hour and it's all clear-colored. It's no joke. Your water accumulates in a wrong place, you need to put it back into blood vessels where it belongs :)

  • @BlackRose  I agree that it is a personal decision, but you might also consider the stress of a divorce and how that will impact the success of IVF on your own.  If you want to have the child, that is one thing.  If you are worried about not being able to have one , since you tried for a few years with no luck, then you might just consider banking your Eggs. Then you have some security there.    I have definitely had friends who tried to have a child, no luck, divorce, and then they meet someone great and all of a sudden they have babies.  Lots to consider!
