IF/Testing Check-in wk Jan9

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another.  Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (If you've been):

Cycle/CD:

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)

How are things going?

Any questions?

GTKY: if you could be reincarnated as an animal what would it be?

@bluejeanbabi05 Femera should not affect your LP. That should remain the same unless they put you on progesterone. if your on progesterone then likely AF won't show until you stop.  I didn't have any side effects from femera but I think some ladies get headaches or moodiness.  my understanding is typically there are less side effects with famera than with clomid.

@wabash15 Good to know, thanks! What is the progesterone supposed to do? Help chances of implantation? I was on it 2 months ago after a surgery to make sure I got AF on time, and she actually came 3 days before I was scheduled to stop the progesterone

And @laurad75 wow that's so great!

@bluejeanbabi05 progesterone is the  hormone that supports pregnancy. Some ladies don't produce enough to support a pregnancy so some docs will supplement. That being said the literature is inconclusive on weather supplementation truely helps. (but it does not hurt).  I know some women still get AF on progesterone supplementation. If its needed its often started at 3dpo or when a BFP is first gotten.

@TravelingCouple Well... that's the issue. I'm in Canada and this is the only clinic in my province.  Apparently if you want to switch doctors within the clinic, you get put back on the waiting list and even then they can't guarantee that doctor won't be the name that pops up when I get to the top of the list again.

Ahh, I see. Well if he's the main game around, that might be why there are so many reviews. Hopefully the negative reviews were for specific reasons and you have a good experience!

@TravelingCouple A 14 day LP is great!! I'm glad it helped! I stopped my progesterone at 13dpo (after 3 negative tests) and ended up with a 15 day LP.

@kyersten looks like we will be IVF buddies if my IUI doesn't work out. I'll be on BC next cycle until injections start on march 9- when will you start injections?

Howdy, ladies!! I hope you don't mind me jumping in here to ask a question. We are on cycle 8, and almost all of these I had 3-4 days of spotting before AF. I had a normal u/s last month, but because the spotting is still happening, I have an endometrial biopsy scheduled for Thursday and CD3 bloodwork next cycle. Does anyone have experience with the biopsy? I'm trying not to freak myself out, but imagining them putting a clamp with teeth on my cervic has me, well, freaked. I'm supposed to take 600mg of ibuprofen an hour before the procedure, but because it's right around O day, I'm hesitant to take that. I'll likely take Tylenol instead.

Thank you!! I'm hoping the best for each and every one of you!  :)

@bertiemeetsgertie I have not had an endometrial biopsy but I have had them need to put a clamp on my cervix twice with IUI. I'm not going to lie, it sucks and numbing spray does not really help, but once the clamp was off I was a little sore and crampy for a few hours then fine. I didn't know it was coming so I couldn't take anything ahead of time which would have helped. Squeeze someone's hand and try to breathe. Hugs girl, you can do this!

@BertieMeetsGertie  I had the biopsy done on 12/22. It was CD 8 or 9 for me and nowhere near O so I took the ibuprofen and felt that was a good choice. The procedure was painful - mostly like sharp cramping - but mine was quick.  I had it done at the same time as my HSG and they were similar to me pain-wise. If i recall, you haven't had a HSG so that comparison won't help but at least I can say it's not too terrible. Good luck! Hope yours goes well and is relatively painless!

@wabash15 @laeberge3 thanks, ladies!! I was talking to my H about it (he's in medicine), and he told me that they don't always use the clamp. I think he just told me that to make me feel better.  :| i just hope this gives me some answers!

@madspunk oh no I'm so sorry for the failed cycle!  **hugs**, I'm sorry you're facing more of a wait now.  FX the Clomid does the trick for you this next cycle.
