  • Tonight, hubby and I were in the bedroom and I burst into tears. When he asked what was wrong, all I could manage through large sobs was "nothing, nothing's wrong." Thank goodness he has dealt with a pregnancy and fertility treatment hormones already.  I felt like a crazy person.

  • @BelhurstBride thinking of you and I'm feeling for you and your limbo anxiety. Ugh.

Any chance your OB would see you Monday? With my SCH (and pregnancy history with DS) my OB said ANY amount of blood is warrant for a visit ASAP. Maybe they would have you in due to the bleeding and uncertainties? Just a thought.

Keeping you in my thoughts and sending you some peace over the next few days. Fx.

  • I haven't been active the past week and a half due to travel and family time...finally relaxing at our cabin and had a massage today at the spa.

2nd/3rd time mom's...anyone transition (or thinking to transition) their little to a big kid bed before new baby arrived? Thinking of transitioning DS before his 2nd birthday in early April....tips, tricks, talk me off the ledge?
He's awesome at going to bed now and will walk himself back to his room, listens/understands actually a bit above his age level...feeling like he might be ready but I don't want to screw this up!

We started with just taking the side off her crib so it was a slower transition and then worked up to the big girl bed when we did it. We made a big deal about it, she got new bedding she loved, and I made a big deal about sitting in her bed to read now. She transitioned easily.

  • I got home from work tonight before my little mans bedtime and he was asleep in his daddy's arms on the couch. I picked him up to take to bed and realized he was warm and has a fever. I was attributing his fever to his teeth coming in. Well, I just got a message from his in home daycare facility. Hand food and mouth is going through the babies. I'm now freaking out because I can't miss any work next week and really don't want him to have this. Even more selfishly I don't want it myself. I will be calling peds when they open for the ill child clinic in the morning now.
  • @Teacher Mom we have new dinosaur bedding DS got for Christmas and taking the side off the crib is a great idea! I think I'll try this when we get home.

  • @devow27, we transitioned my son to his big boy bed a few months before his second birthday.  We have the kura reversible bed from Ikea.  My four year old sleeps on the top and we put a mattress underneath for my youngest.  I just made sure all the furniture was secured with tipping restraints and took out any toys that might be choking hazards  (I've learned the hard way that even two year old put things in their mouths).  The first few nights he would get right back up to play, and he still does on occasion, but with some consistent reminders to get back in bed he's learned.  He typically goes to sleep easily.  I've kept the baby monitor in his room too.  Occasionally I wake up to find that he's taken every single diaper out of his drawer or dumped out every toy bin, but those days get less frequent as time goes on.  It's definitely worth trying if you think he might be ready.

  • @kassyfry ugh.  My two had it for the first time back in October.  It sucked, but luckily my two had a pretty mild case so the fever was the worst part because it got pretty high.  Also, a few weeks after it goes away their finger and toe nails started falling off which is a side effect of it.  Praying he (and you) don't have it!!

  • @devow27 We put DD from crib to toddler bed before 2. Nothing really special there, just, "Here's your new bed with all your stuffed animals, yaaay!" She loved it and didn't get out of bed except the first night.

However, 2-3 months after, she kept getting out of bed right after we put her in at bedtime. She would come wandering into our bedroom looking all, "Time to play?" not even getting the hint that we were not going to like this. I'm guessing it was some kind of regression, but I have no idea. That went on for 3-4 weeks. Then she figured out that she could get out of bed and play during naptime, so now we have "quiet time" in her bedroom. She naps maybe once a week. But she stays in her bed at bedtime.

  • @Elyse1384, I understand where you're coming from! And I hope you feel better soon.

DD2 was a surprise. We had decided to be one and done and DH was just procrasting on making the appointment to get snipped. I don't remember going through this phase with her and it may be because it took me a bit to feel connected.

It was 7 years ago I was pregnant with DD1. I don't remember if I went through a phase like this or not.

My mom's convinced it's a mix of not remembering previous pregnancies and being older this time around that has me feeling so doomed, but it is weirdly helpful to know that I'm not alone.

After zero luck with the doppler again I spent the morning googling missed miscarriages, because why not fuck with my own head even further. Five more days until my next appointment. Five more days.
OK creepy search browser history similarities.  DH thinks my feelings are driven by a guilt over recent success with our IVF cycles. It took 3 years for us to have a successful pregnancy with DS.  Then DD was our first frozen embryo transfer from that same batch.  This LO is also from that batch and also our first FET attempt for baby #3.  Even our specialist was shocked at our success with this one IVF batch and how his LO was technically the 4th best embryo and still stuck after going 2
for 3 (We transfered 2 embryos in the round with DS).  I admit, I fell guilt for the recent success and too lucky, but I don't know.  Things just feel different.  The cramping is finally subsiding bough and my weight loss stopped so that is good!  I hope the next 4 days fly by for you!

Congrats to your team! I was occasionally glancing at the game during dinner last night... did the horse fall on your mascot or was that old footage they were replaying?!?!?!

  • @silliegirlie143 he fell last night.  He doesn't usually travel, but the Michigan coach wanted to see him because we never usually play them so I am assuming it was just new and different and that's why he freaked because I have never seen it happen before.  They reported that both the horse and mascot were ok though!

We are planning to make the transition sometime next summer. DS slept in our room for about 8 weeks after birth, so I am assuming we will do similarly with this baby.
DS will still be young enough for a crib, but we have a 2-bedroom house and there's no way that second bedroom will hold two cribs and still leave room to play!
We plan to move him to a toddler bed at about 15 months old, so between baby arrives at 14 months and when baby will (likely) move in with him at 16.

My siblings and I were all out of our cribs by that age, so at least I know it's doable.
  • @FSUNole31 I choked up when I saw Renegade fall. He must have been so scared.
  • @Mother0fDragons my sister and BIL were over and all of us (my husband too) were all holding our breath.  It was really scary!  He usually is so good at what he does.

Oh god HFM seriously sucks. Somehow my dd picked it up when she was 1. I learned that you are supposed to only get it once and kids don't get it as bad. Dd never even noticed it, I thought she just had a diaper rash until I got it. It's terribly itchy, we had it over a weekend. The good news is if you had a normal childhood you probably won't get it, most kids get exposed to it and they either get it or just get it silently and still become immune. Dh didn't catch it while I suffered because he had 3 older brothers and was around kids all the time when he was little. I was a sheltered firstborn so I now get to catch all the kid diseases now. I hope you are spared.
  • Thanks @Mother0fDragons and @Kylieslip24. So far I don't think I have it. He only has a few of the blisters on each hand, a few on his bottom, and one on his nose. The thing getting to him the most is the fever. It doesn't seem to want to break and he's very clingy and fussy. Poor little man
  • The girl I nanny for had HFM awhile ago and it went around the daycare I worked at. I didn't get it. The little girls dad did though and he said it was awful!

  • @Kylieslip24 just wanted to warn you that there are multiple strains of the coxsackie virus which causes HFM so you can unfortunately have it more than once... my twins had it, the full blown thing at 11 months  (entire infant room got it at the daycare).  Flash forward to now, one of my boys had it but only fever with the blisters in the back of his throat earlier this month.  Our pediatrician dispelled the myth of only getting it once for us...
  • DS caught HFM as an infant (maybe 4m) when he started daycare.  Things got so bad I was feeding him breastmilk via medical syringe because he wouldn't breastfeed or take a bottle.  He didn't sleep unless I held him at night so I got next to no sleep and then caught it myself.  Pure hell!!!
  • DD (2.5) is in a toddler bed with a side rail now. I just ordered her a full mattress so we can convert her crib into a bed, and use the mattress for this baby. When we first went to the toddler bed, she would get up a few times, but almost always ended up back in her bed. She stopped napping when we took the side off though... that has not been fun!

@FSUNole31 That game was crazy!!! Congrats on an awesome win!

@JessyKV my daughters birthday is January 11, people are already asking me what to get her.  I don't need more stuff!!
My sons was November 24 and my daughters is January 28.  So glad this next kid is far from Christmas!!

Is it rude to put gifts not necessary on the invite? I'm telling our parents we prefer experience gifts.  Take her to the movies or zoo or local amusement park.

if she gets another Barbie I might lose it.
My DD's birthday is the DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS.

So so this year, I worked Christmas Eve. Christmas Day spent with my family. DD's birthday the day after. Three 10+ hour work days followed (cosmetologist life). Yesterday was Christmas with my grandparents, and today I worked NYE at a retail job (that I love).

I am skipping NYE games at my folks's house to just lay in bed alone. It's quiet and warm. And it's nice to just feel baby flutters and not worry about anything. <3

  • @mrt I have 2 of them and use them for everything!  I started out with a smaller one and quickly realized I needed a bigger one.  Especially when making big batches of cookie dough.  I mix meatloaf in mine so I don't get anything on my hands.  Whip up whipped cream in about 2 minutes.  You'll love it the longer you have it.  It also has some amazing attachments you can buy for it.   Kitchenaid also makes a nice cover for it so it doesn't get dusty while sitting out on your counter.
