UO Time?

If you're new, UO = unpopular opinion.
I know we all have some. Let's hear them!

Disclaimer: The UO is not for the weak of heart. If your O is truly U, you will be told as much with plenty of snark and hopefully gifs.

  • @supermom83 FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT! I cannot get into lularoe. I also have a hard time justifying spending $25 on a single pair of leggings. The patterns just aren't wearable. They remind me of patterned scrubs. Like the patterns are whimsical and fun but not for clothing that I'm going to wear to work or out on a date.
  • I think 95% of all Lularoe tights and dresss are super ugly. I refuse to buy into the fad. I really don't care how soft or comfy the leggings are, the prints are just too ugly. I don't want pineapples, or gingerbread men, or god knows what else all plastered on my thighs and legs :D Just because something is comfy doesn't mean it should be worn....Mumus are comfy too, just sayin'! ;)
.....And now I'll go run and hide because the Lularoe fans are going to have a field day with my UO! lol
I could have wrote this! I think all these adults look like giant toddlers in the weird colors and patterns. I say giant toddlers because only a cute tiny toddler could 'get away' with the style in my UO. So ugly. Flame away. Lol.

I also think the trend is going to fizzle out. Like the people who like it are going to get their fill, and the people who don't like it never will. And I feel bad for the consultants who are shelling out thousands of dollars up front and are going to be stuck with a bunch of inventory nobody wants.
  • @adabyron amen to it all, but especially to the irma comment!!
  • @supermom83 THIS!! I'll come back with my own UO at some point, but for now I just have to do a little happy dance in that I'm not alone in hating Lularoe. I'm all for patterns, but for that price? And to have to deal with stupid parties to get them? No thanks.

  • @cssme13 I definitely agree with your feelings on friends selling stuff. I honestly find it so, so annoying. Like yes I understand you're earning money and that is awesome. But I feel like I need to put a disclaimer on my social media saying I do not buy Mary kay, plexus, lularoe, Arbonne, etc. etc., so don't ask me. Maybe it's just my personality...I'm pretty introverted so I can't even imagine having a business where I have to bother people all the time

I've really tried to like Lularoe but I just can't. I have solid black leggings and they're definitely comfy but totally see through. My other issue with them is that every shirt has way too high of a neckline for me. I'm plus size with a bigger chest and I just feel super dumpy in their shirts.
  • @mamahann SAME, I am petite but I have a small torso and I feel like I look like a stump in any kind of oversized shirt-dress with no shape.

YES! I buy leggings from the VIV collection on amazon- the same exact "buttery soft" material for less that half the price. And the prints are way cuter.

  • @plumpous yes! Start a thread!
  • My UO....I DO NOT like Pentatonix. Yeah maybe the concept was cool for like 1 or 2 songs. Yes, they are talented. But I think they are waaaaay overrated.
  • Though it's apparently not truly a UO, I'm on the LuLaRoe train. I think 90% of the patterns are awful, though there are a few that are okay. I do think the leggings are comfy and I just bought a Cassie skirt that's a pretty basic pattern, not outlandish. But yeah, the Irma I bought is never leaving my house.
  • @plumpous My #1 was born end of March and I made it through most of the PA winter with my regular coats. I snagged a really warm, but not pretty maternity coat from walmart for $20. It was a bit shiny and purple...I called it the grape.

Would a thread about winter coats be a good one? I won't fit into mine. I wondered if anyone plans to get a maternity winter coat or just what's your plan.

Not sure if this is a real question or not, but I'd assume you won't need a maternity winter coat since you are due in July. I used my regular jacket until 7mo pg. I lived in Alaska, and had my baby in February, and half the time never even buttoned up my jacket because the baby bump was like a little personal heater.

Unless you live somewhere where July is a cold month.

UO- I like the LLR leggings... but I keep them as house pants.

  • Clearly in the majority here so it's no longer a UO but definitely not a fan of these LuLaRoe leggings. Going one step further and going to say that the whole boots with leggings and sweater or tunic thing (and bonus if you have an infinity scarf or other slouchy scarf) combo is SO TIRED.

Eh. I was due in June with DD2, live in Maryland, and show early and carry large. I was cold and couldn't button my coat. So yeah, I think it's relevant, particularly depending on the style of coat.
  • @satsumasandlemons      I'm with you on the....confusion/uncertainty? re: the "new" bump rules. I haven't been on since pregnant with my daughter, so five years ago, and all this structure is throwing me off. I'm just sitting back and observing though, because I do like not having to sift through 50,000 threads from one day. But, I'm also not sure where to find others talking about the same things I'm looking for info on.
  • @kat0607 They drive me crazy too! I have only seen them on Sesame Street, but they have such punchable faces. This is not rational, I know.

I had to look LuLaRoe up. I'm not usually a patterns gal, so their stuff is -ahem- not my style. My husband has really strong opinions on multi-level marketing (his hometown is packed with people selling goji berries, essential oils, Rodan & Fields etc.).

  • @cait32 I've only ever tried the solid prints and they haven't been see-through. I will say that the waist band part is different than LLR, like it's not as flat if that makes sense.

I also miss having more random threads. I like the to spend time here for fun too and there's never new activity unless it's a regimented check in or chatter.

A real UO I have is I don't believe that I need to take supplements if my diet is truly diverse. I take them anyway because it's tasty gummies and my husband feels strongly about it. I look up everything I eat and boy do I get enough folate and calcium for sure. And all of the omega fatty acids. So I think it's all a waste of money.
I need one and needed it like yesterday!! Idk to get a bigger size to accommodate growing bump through April, or buy a maturity specific one(I'm assuming it's a lot more expensive!)?! I want a long one, maybe mid thy style. Where I live we have brutal cold weather from nov-april.

I think it is needed. I have a north face size extra small fitted winter coat...it's not going to fit by the bloat/bump by the end of December!! Hahaha
  • About the coats... It stays cold until April and I'll have some form of a bump and probably just bigger in general. If we had winter babies I'm sure most would need a coat, but for us, it's more of a question.... We'll all change but not all the way.
