I'll be 20 weeks tmrw. Started feeling baby brother earlier this week (maybe 19 1/2 weeks). I'm sitting at work, bored, wondering what baby brother's doing. Hmm...He's been awfully quiet today. THEN....knock, knock, knock! Mom, are you out there?!
I have been feeling so much movement! I love it. And it has finally made everything seem so real. DH has felt him and last night we just watched my belly and could see little movements. ❤️
It was confirmed yesterday that I have an anterior placenta. So glad this is why I'm 19+1 and not feeling movement! This is the first time out of the 4 pregnancies and I must say, it is very different!
@justdoit93 welcome to the club. How is it different though? for me it's my first, so I have no comparison.
Me: 35 year old FTM, a busy city banker living in London, and a constant worrier. My DH: French guy, car fanatic, best husband ever. Our baby boy: Due on 17 April, currently 37 weeks. I can't believe it - I made it to full term!!!! Last measurement: 3150 gs at 37+1! This is going to be a big baby
@smallanimal with my others I started feeling movement between 12-14 weeks and usually full on punches by this stage. This time around I feel nothing and forget I'm pregnant half of the time! In comparison, it sucks because feeling the baby move around in there is the best part of pregnancy and a way I connect! Hopefully I'll be feeling her soon!
@justdoit93 fingers crossed! I am feeling proper kicks now with the anterior placenta (21+6). But only started feeling at 20+1!!

My husband is still deployed so I am visiting my parents, and my mom felt a kick from baby boy on the outside with an anterior placenta at 22.5 weeks! Can hardly wait until my husband gets home so he can feel it too! He's been gone since before I had any bump at all and before we knew it was a boy! A big old kick from the outside would be the BEST welcome home gift!
@BabyBlake.04.2017 That is so great! Please thank him for his service from us at The Bump. I always get extremely emotional whenever I watch videos of our military members coming home. Will he be home for the remainder of your pregnancy? Or is this just a short leave?
Still no movement over here at 21+3 with an anterior placenta. I'm not worried about it, but geez my MIL sure freaked out when she asked and I said not yet. She then proceeded to ask if I saw him move during the anatomy scan a couple weeks ago... annoying and to be honest it just bothers me whenever people seem nervous about it. I have an appointment on Friday, maybe I'll send her audio of the heartbeat or something. I was joking with H last night that by the time I feel the baby that he'll probably be able to feel him too.
@taylor72 for me, mostly low. She steps on or punches my cervix all the time. Don't know which. But usually I feel her rolling pretty low. At my a/s she had her spine up toward my ribs and her face down. So I assume she's poking me. I guess most of the kicks come halfway between pubic bone and belly button.
@taylor72, The last few days I swear she's been having a dance party and I've felt her ALL OVER but prior to that it's been lots of very low movement like @HGRich was explaining
@taylor72 about 90% of the time low, then 10% of the time all over the place.

@RachelGreene - hiccups are pretty easy to figure out once you've felt them a few times. For me, it's usually rhythmic thumps in the same spot for a few minutes. If you can figure out a pattern to the thump, then chances are it's hiccups.
@Taylor72 - this time I've felt a lot of movement in the lower part of my abdomen. This one punches my cervix and bladder a lot, whereas DS was more of a rib kicker. The other day this one "jumped" and managed to kick my diaphragm and bladder at the same time. Talk about a weird sensation. I almost peed myself!
I mostly feel this one really, really low. Like, usually right around my pubic bone area, but sometimes she'll come up a little higher. DS was always all over the place...he rolled everywhere, all the time. And he's just as active on the outside, haha. I'll take a calm little girl to balance out my crazy boy though (DS has finally conquered his fear of the stairs/climbing down, so he's alllllllll over the place now).
I am 5'3" on a good day and have a short torso even for someone of my petite stature. At my routine OB appointment yesterday my fundal height measured at 29 cm which corresponds to that of someone 29 weeks along, though I am only 24 weeks. This explains how I've been feeling my little guy higher than I previously thought possible. His head was in the birth canal at my anatomy scan about 5 weeks ago, but I have no idea now as he seems to be having regular dance parties in there and I've felt him over the entire expanse of my belly. I stinkin' love every kick, punch, fist bump, high five, and hiccup. If this is what the muted movement of an anterior placenta feels like...wow.
This baby is low, low, low. I occasionally feel punches on the sides, but much of the movement is very low. The ultrasound tech said he or she was happily laying on my bladder at the a/s and, while the baby liked to move its arms and legs, wasn't too interesting in flipping over. I guess my bladder is like a mini water bed and the baby is happy to be there...
I'm a FTM and definitely still have a hard time distinguishing between movement and gas.
I think I can tell between movement and gas at this point, but I have lots of trouble distinguishing between different types of movement. The only movement DH can feel is on the right side of my belly, middle to low (not near my ribs yet), and I assume that those are kicks. However, some of the other stuff that DH can't feel on the outside is harder to distinguish. What does it feel like to you ladies when LO is turning/flipping over?
@Magheeta Based on your description I think Nugget hiccups all the time! I'll be on the lookout for it now.
@KirstinH88 he should be home the rest of the pregnancy as far as we can tell! Maybe a few short trips, but no more long deployments in next few months thankfully! I suppose it's better now than when the baby comes!
@taylor72 I feel a mixture of 2" below the belly button and right at or slightly above the belly button typically. Every once in a while I feel them all over and out to the sides like maybe arms stretching up or feet kicking out? I have a hard time telling the difference between types of movement at this point, but maybe that will get easier as his legs get stronger haha. I feel like the ones that go above my belly button are the strongest, so I'm assuming that's because it's above where my anterior placenta lies.
@schef070911 I think flipping over and turning feels more like a rolling sensation. To me it is a little longer and smoother than the short jabs that are kicks and punches.
@schef070911 I agree with @chelle087. I think the flipping over or turning feels a lot like how your stomach feels during a drop on a roller coaster with a rolling sensation.
I'm a FTM with a regular placenta and I didn't feel her until after 21 weeks. Now she's pretty active, but I don't really keep track of days where I feel her and days where I don't. Last night I did say out loud, "baby go to sleep!" because it was annoying. When I do feel her, it's really low--like at my underwear line. I'm excited for DH to be able to feel her. I think we're almost there.

I am a FTM with anterior placenta, and have felt movement from 20+1. Two days ago everything suddenly slowed, and movements became much fainter and scarcer. My tummy moved up too, I can feel and see it, it is easier to move around and to go to the toilet too. I am pretty sure the baby changed positions. Haven't had a kick to the cervix for days now. Midwife says there isnt a problem, but I wonder if anyone experienced similar? I am always worried about missing kicks.

@smallanimal I have definitely experienced that! I was having lots of strong kicks and then all the sudden they got fainter, but I also got tons of back pain at the same time. My guess is baby moved towards the back someplace at that time, but a few days later it was back to normal! At my anatomy scan yesterday I was feeling tons of movement way up in my ribs, and I assumed that couldn't be baby because it was totally different than anywhere else I had felt movement, but the tech confirmed he was laying breach at that moment and it was his hands way up there! So crazy!
@smallanimal It's too early to worry about missing kicks. Baby still has plenty of room to move around in there and can "hide" in places where you won't really feel the movement. Plus, with the anterior placenta (I had one with DS) it's easy for him to get to a place where he's behind that and you won't feel a ton. Trust your midwife. Baby girl shifted toward my back the last few days and I didn't feel much of anything, but she's back up front and rolling around again today.
DD just felt a kick! I was sure she wouldn't until we could also see the movements from the outside but we just happened to get lucky! So exciting...for me anyway, she was a little nonchalant.

My husband got home from deployment last night and this morning he got to feel a big movement! So exciting! And it's his birthday today, so even better! Good timing, baby boy!!
@BabyBlake.04.2017 how exciting! What a great welcome home gift!
Baby was having a dance party last night. Nonstop movement for 20 minutes or so. DH felt a ton of kicks and we just watched my belly move as we laid in bed.
DS (almost 17 months) has become obsessed with my (pretty nonexistent) belly lately. He keeps lifting my shirt up and poking my belly button and laughing. The best part is that it makes baby girl squirm and I can see some kicks from the outside, so I wonder if he is seeing/feeling them too and that is what's fueling his obsession.
DH hasn't felt anything. We both keep forgetting that I'm pregnant because there's so much other craziness going on, and she's most active when I'm trying to sleep (so DH is asleep, haha). One day...the couple times he has tried she's chilled out as soon as his hand was on my belly (which is exactly what DS did).
@wagnerw I also got a dance party last night. This came after 4 days of relative quietness. So to everyone who may have wondered - looks like this is normal.

I suspect this has been possible for awhile but today I took the time to stare at my belly and apparently I can see her move now. This is awesome. And last night DH put his face on my belly to tell her goodnight and she kicked him. Also awesome since usually if he tries to feel she goes quiet. I love the timing because Christmas is the only time my in laws will see me this whole pregnancy and I look forward to letting them feel if they want--as family are the only people who can touch my belly! Haha.
