  • It was confirmed yesterday that I have an anterior placenta. So glad this is why I'm 19+1 and not feeling movement! This is the first time out of the 4 pregnancies and I must say, it is very different!
  • @justdoit93  welcome to the club.  How is it different though? for me it's my first, so I have no comparison.
Me:  35 year old FTM, a busy city banker living in London, and a constant worrier.
My DH:  French guy, car fanatic, best husband ever.
Our baby boy:  Due on 17 April, currently 37 weeks.  I can't believe it - I made it to full term!!!!
Last measurement:  3150 gs at 37+1!  This is going to be a big baby :)
  • @smallanimal with my others I started feeling movement between 12-14 weeks and usually full on punches by this stage. This time around I feel nothing and forget I'm pregnant half of the time! In comparison, it sucks because feeling the baby move around in there is the best part of pregnancy and a way I connect! Hopefully I'll be feeling her soon!
  • @justdoit93
fingers crossed!  I am feeling proper kicks now with the anterior placenta (21+6). But only started feeling at 20+1!!

  • where is everyone feeling baby at? high? belly button area? low? I'm just curious where most are feeling the little ones
  • @taylor72 for me, mostly low. She steps on or punches my cervix all the time. Don't know which. But usually I feel her rolling pretty low. At my a/s she had her spine up toward my ribs and her face down. So I assume she's poking me. I guess most of the kicks come halfway between pubic bone and belly button.
  • @taylor72, The last few days I swear she's been having a dance party and I've felt her ALL OVER but prior to that it's been lots of very low movement like @HGRich was explaining

  • @taylor72 about 90% of the time low, then 10% of the time all over the place.

  • @magheeta how cute!! what do the hiccups feel like to you?

I'm a FTM and definitely still have a hard time distinguishing between movement and gas.
  • @RachelGreene - hiccups are pretty easy to figure out once you've felt them a few times. For me, it's usually rhythmic thumps in the same spot for a few minutes. If you can figure out a pattern to the thump, then chances are it's hiccups. :)

@Taylor72 - this time I've felt a lot of movement in the lower part of my abdomen. This one punches my cervix and bladder a lot, whereas DS was more of a rib kicker. The other day this one "jumped" and managed to kick my diaphragm and bladder at the same time. Talk about a weird sensation. I almost peed myself!

  • I mostly feel this one really, really low. Like, usually right around my pubic bone area, but sometimes she'll come up a little higher. DS was always all over the place...he rolled everywhere, all the time. And he's just as active on the outside, haha. I'll take a calm little girl to balance out my crazy boy though (DS has finally conquered his fear of the stairs/climbing down, so he's alllllllll over the place now).

  • Thanks everyone! I am feeling this little girl really low as well and just wasn't sure if she should be up higher by now.
  • @thecavfamily love it. And I agree. If I have an anterior placenta and feel her all the time, what on earth are the rest of y'all feeling. Haha.

  • I'm a FTM and definitely still have a hard time distinguishing between movement and gas.
I think I can tell between movement and gas at this point, but I have lots of trouble distinguishing between different types of movement. The only movement DH can feel is on the right side of my belly, middle to low (not near my ribs yet), and I assume that those are kicks.  However, some of the other stuff that DH can't feel on the outside is harder to distinguish.  What does it feel like to you ladies when LO is turning/flipping over?

@Magheeta Based on your description I think Nugget hiccups all the time!  I'll be on the lookout for it now.  :)

  • @KirstinH88 he should be home the rest of the pregnancy as far as we can tell! Maybe a few short trips, but no more long deployments in next few months thankfully! I suppose it's better now than when the baby comes!

@taylor72 I feel a mixture of 2" below the belly button and right at or slightly above the belly button typically. Every once in a while I feel them all over and out to the sides like maybe arms stretching up or feet kicking out? I have a hard time telling the difference between types of movement at this point, but maybe that will get easier as his legs get stronger haha. I feel like the ones that go above my belly button are the strongest, so I'm assuming that's because it's above where my anterior placenta lies.
  • @schef070911 I think flipping over and turning feels more like a rolling sensation.  To me it is a little longer and smoother than the short jabs that are kicks and punches.
  • @schef070911 I agree with @chelle087. I think the flipping over or turning feels a lot like how your stomach feels during a drop on a roller coaster with a rolling sensation.

  • I am a FTM with anterior placenta, and have felt movement from 20+1.  Two days ago everything suddenly slowed, and movements became much fainter and scarcer.  My tummy moved up too, I can feel and see it, it is easier to move around and to go to the toilet too.   I am pretty sure the baby changed positions.  Haven't had a kick to the cervix for days now.  Midwife says there isnt a problem, but I wonder if anyone experienced similar?  I am always worried about missing kicks.

  • @smallanimal I have definitely experienced that! I was having lots of strong kicks and then all the sudden they got fainter, but I also got tons of back pain at the same time. My guess is baby moved towards the back someplace at that time, but a few days later it was back to normal! At my anatomy scan yesterday I was feeling tons of movement way up in my ribs, and I assumed that couldn't be baby because it was totally different than anywhere else I had felt movement, but the tech confirmed he was laying breach at that moment and it was his hands way up there! So crazy!
  • @wagnerw  I also got a dance party last night.  This came after 4 days of relative quietness.  So to everyone who may have wondered - looks like this is normal.
