Movement

Re: Movement

  • At 20w1d, this was the first day I could feel baby moving constantly all day. The anterior placenta has kept me from feeling a lot of movement until now.

  • Still no movemement for me (18w6d).  Starting to get worried.

Our baby boy:  Due on 17 April, currently 37 weeks.  I can't believe it - I made it to full term!!!!
Last measurement:  3150 gs at 37+1!  This is going to be a big baby :)
  • @smallanimal No need to worry. At 20 weeks I told my doctor I hadn't felt anything and she wasn't concerned. As long as your other tests have been fine, there is likely not a problem.

She did say if I was worried,at the end of the day i should lay still with my hand on my pelvic area and focus thoughts on the baby and it might be easier to notice.

    Me neither @smallanimal

My ultrasound tech assured me that baby looks great and is just cozy behind the anterior placenta.

  • @catem07  I will try this!  anything at this point. The last checkup was two weeks ago, and the next one (anatomy scan) is still a full week away! Thanks for the tip :)

@SDSwenson  I got told that I have the placenta in the right place (so assume it is not anterior) - I know with anterior placenta you feel later... I am not fat at all so really should be feeling stuff now, I am normally conscious of my body and its changes... everytime I have a stomach rumble, i start hoping these days :)  hopefully he will decide to say hello soon.

    Thanks for the encouragement

I don't really think that's true for a FTM...they usually say 20-23 weeks.  You're still pretty early to be feeling anything, I think. I know "try not to worry" isn't very helpful, but you'll be feeling that baby soon.

  • Thank you all for the encouragement!  @SDSwenson my next appt is the 28th but I might buy a home doppler tomorrow.  @cafedisco I thought so too, but look at this thread above and there are many women who say they felt their first baby before 20.,, So that's what started to worry me to be honest.  But I know he is growing because my belly just exploded this last week  so hopefully all ok with my little one.
@KirstinH88  you just said exactly what I was thinking :) thanks for understanding.  Will report any news!

  • Okay, now I can feel this child "step" on my sciatic nerve. I was laying on my left side last night and could feel pressure/pinching every time the baby moved. This is going to be a long 4 months if the little booger keeps doing this. :frowning:

  • I had a dream last night that I was feeling baby and I had my sister try to feel (I think we were at Thanksgiving) and she said she felt a movement too. Ugh!!!! Waking up from that dream was not fun! 17+3 STM with an anterior placenta. No movement yet.

@HGRich that is so amazing, and so early on! I continue to have movement envy. How did he feel about it?

On my end, I *think* I have been feeling *something*, which may be actual movement, or may be just my imagination, because I want it so much!  But for the last few days , after eating, when seated or lying down, I feel a sensation that is similar to gas, but not at all the same, very small and a little bit weirder... (and there is no gas coming out afterwards - sorry for the tmi).  Sometimes I feel like I know it's him (then other times I think what if I am just imagining it).  But in any case, it keeps happening, so maybe it's really my baby

@SDSwenson  , how is it going for you?

  • @smallanimal if there is no gas after, that certainly sounds like a baby to me!  Congrats!!! :)

  • @smallanimal that sounds like baby to me too! Especially when laying down and after a meal. Yay! I knew you'd feel soon.

DH is pretty excited. He's not the type to put his hand there all the time in case he feels something so we feel lucky the timing worked out with a forceful kick!
  • @HGRich that's awesome your DH felt a kick so early! I can feel a lot of movement on the inside, but can't really feel anything that I am certain is baby from the outside yet. I hope it happens soon because I think it will really help him feel more connected to this process. At ~22 weeks, should be soon I hope.

Not sure if this makes a difference but at my anatomy scan they said he was really low and most of the movements I am feeling are really low still, so that might be making it harder to feel from the outside too.

  • @Smallanimal I'm feeling the same thing! It's usually in the evening after dinner and it almost feels like a muscle twitch, or bubbles.. just a few of them every once in awhile. It's just so hard to tell if it's baby or gas, or muscles spasms...

I'm glad you're feeling the same things! I feel like it might be baby now! It makes me more hopefully :) I hope you're more hopeful now, too!
  • @smallanimal that's exactly how I would describe my movement feelings too... almost like bubbles that roll up and pop against the lining of my uterus. Similar to gas but distinguishable especially since no gas comes afterwards. I have an anterior placenta but started to feel movements in week 19, I probably feel about 3 sessions a day especially after I eat. Pretty exciting!
  • @kitkat8387 thanks! I thought it was too early to feel outside too. But he's felt her a couple times since so maybe she's just really strong. Maybe a future soccer player or martial artist. Haha.

Congrats also to the rest of you starting to feel little flutters and "bubbles"!!
  • @smallanimal yay!! He probably just went to sleep. I only feel solid kicks a couple of times a day at this point. But yay for real strong kicks!
  • @smallanimal yay!!!! How far along are you? I've been thinking that I'm possibly feeling kicks randomly but I still honestly have no clue cuz this anterior placenta is messing with my mind!

  • @HGRich thank you! This was ... Something! I cant believe how cool this is... Baby is kicking :) so happy. Its 2:14am and i cant sleep anymore!

@KirstinH88 exactly 20w2d today, and i felt somehing before but this time it is 100 per cent it was baby, not even a doubt. He does not seem to do "gradual"!!! He was full on drumming inside me

i think if you think you are feeling something it must be it and it may come on suddenly at one point like it did for me... I was on my back, just after being on the loo, so the uterus was lower than usual because of the empty bladder. Plus i had a banana prior.

Let us know how it goes?

  • @smallanimal so happy for you. Hopefully it helps to relieve some of the anxiety. I'm 18+3 so about 2 weeks behind you. Hopefully I will feel something fairly substantial soon....

    Keep us posted!

  • @KirstinH88 I also have an anterior placenta and started to feel proper kicks in week 19 (probably 19+3) and over the last two weeks they have gotten more and more noticeable. Before that it was just "maybe?!". I'm sure you're getting close!!!
  • Do the kicks/punches make anyone else feel a bit queasy? I definitely don't remember it being like this last time. I've been feeling distinct movement around my bellybutton, which I think (hope) are kicks, and lower down at the bottom of my stomach, which I think (hope) are punches. The low punches make me feel a bit sick to my stomach, almost like when your stomach drops on a ride or when driving over a hill. It's a weird feeling.

  • @blueberry85 yes! Haha. I've had a lot of stomach problems in my life and sometimes baby movement reminds me of various intestinal problems I've had before and makes me feel icky. But it's just distinct enough of a sensation from intestinal problems that it helps (especially the hard kicks). But it is weird.
  • @Blueberry85 I have anterior placenta so I'm sure I haven't felt Nugget's full "range of movement" yet, but sometimes I feel like she is pushing on one particular spot near my belly button and it makes me slightly nauseous.  The stomach dropping on a roller coaster analogy is a good one!

  • I feel this boy move all.the.time. For over two weeks now I can see the belly jiggle around and see his little feet (not the actual foot shape) poke out. So we can definitely feel him on the outside all the time, too which is so fun for my DD and H.

    @Blueberry85

Yes! whenever he really flips or drastically changes his position, it feels weird, like my stomach is dropping on a rollercoaster. I felt that way with DD, too. This one also likes to kick downward a lot, which actually hurts. I'm kind of fully expecting to pee my pants when I'm farther along and he kicks down :/

  • @Blueberry85 The kicks and punches don't seem to make me queasy, but when these two are rolling all over the place, I definitely get that weird stomach dropping feeling!
