  • @cruffino which support belt are you using?

Last night I was woken up by the worst charlie horse! I actually cried out until i figured out what was going on.  Now I'm still a little sore this morning. FUN!

    @Gretchypoo THIS ONE
it's super ugly but it gets the job done!

ETA: its really rigid, so great for walking/hiking and other periods of activity. but its not an everyday item. its uncomfortable when sitting or just being around the house. its definitely an "activewear" kind of thing.

Oh I immediately walked to the kitchenand ate one LOL! Ugh. It reminded me of growing up, I got the worst Charlie horses when I was a kid.
  • I'll have to try that @cruffino! Thanks for the recommendation.
  • @gretchypoo - Charlie horses have been an ongoing issue for me since the BFP.  I used to have DH rub my calf while I flexed and pointed my toes (some of them lasted as long as a minute).  Now, I'm careful how hard I stretch in the morning and if I get one, I jump out of bed and walk a little.  It's the opposite of what I feel like doing, but it seems to get rid of them much faster.

  • I have never had eczema in my life, and now a big patch has developed on the front of my neck starting 3 days ago, and I have had a tickle in my throat for a week in the same area as the patch on the outside. Not sure if that means anything but it is annoying!

  • @Gretchypoo ugh, Charlie horses are the worst! I don't get them a lot but when I do it's usually in the middle of the night. I've freaked H out a few times jumping out of bed after waking up with one.

I can't get rid of the headaches and Tylenol doesn't touch them. :(  I also woke up last night with some lower back pain on my right side which also hurts in the front (maybe RLP?). It made it hard to sleep last night and I woke up with a bad headache from lack of sleep.

  • By the end of the day I have awful back pain. I can't get comfortable and I'm just dreading what the end of this pregnancy will be like...

  • @cruffino The walking pain has been happening to me for a couple of weeks now. It feels like runners cramps, and it goes away the second I stop moving. Not painful enough not to walk, just annoying. I will have to look in to support belts!

@FreeTheElf I feel you with skin problems. I get eczema flare-ups every couple of years, and my skin is generally much more dry, sensitive, and irritated. In August, we went camping, and I was slathering on a natural sunscreen (heavy in zinc), plus bug spray. For two weeks afterwards, my arms were red, itchy, and bumpy. It sucked. Aveeno sensitive skin lotion (unscented!) eventually seemed to help.

  • @lfrank12 Add me to the heartburn train. It's TERRIBLE.   If the hair myth is correct, I am apparently growing big foot.  I couldn't eat until around 11 this morning because it was so hard to even get water to not keep coming up into my esophogus.  I have been popping Tums like candy and also Zantac, but it's not doing a thing. I have my checkup on Thursday and may need to discuss doing something else or somehting stronger.   It's one thing to be uncomfortable, but it's actually getting hard to eat and drink now.
  • I want to eat eggs. Eggs want me to barf. Still. This can go away anyway now!
  • @leslie1331 I lol'd at the big foot comment  :D It sounds like you may also have acid reflux if you are feeling it in your esophagus. I have that and have taken omeprozale (before BFP) so that could be an option depending on what your doctor recommends!
  • You can also try drinking coconut water or Gatorade to help with the leg cramps.  If you are already constipated bananas are only going to make that worse.

  • I just saw my doc again.  My ear infection is worse.  It's in the inner ear now or something so I have to go see an ENT. I just want it to go away.  I don't even know how I got it because I haven't been congested nor have I been swimming.

@Gretchypoo Charlie horses are the worst.  I get them a lot especially during the summer even before I got pregnant. And for me,  they last pretty long, too. It usually happens when I lay down and stretch my legs.  I don't know why that's a trigger.

  • @AfKash Ear infections are the WORST! I feel like they are one of those things that make you realize how much you take for granted not being in pain most of the time. I hope the ENT is able to fix it quickly!

  • I am also on the heartburn/reflux bus. No fun, but I have had reflux since I was a kid, so it's not surprising that it is flaring up now. Tums seem to do nothing, so I've been taking zantac as needed. I'm going to discuss it with my doc at my appointment next week to see if she has any suggestions!

My other new symptom is weird. I've been getting a lot of discomfort if my bladder gets too full, which kind of makes sense because of increased pressure. The weird part is that sometimes after I go I'm getting a worse pain/discomfort for a minute or two, centered right above my pelvis. This just seems weird to me, because shouldn't the pressure going away make it feel better, not worse? I'm going to bring that up at the appointment too, because weird. And ouch. Has anyone else had anything similar?
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @WinchesterGirl the bladder issue happens to me,  too.  I think the bladder is sore or something and when it goes back down after emptying,  it hurts for it to go back to its normal empty self.  I'm just guessing. Not a doctor.

  • @WinchesterGirl I think I've been feeling something similar. When I wake up and roll over at night it can be really painful and I definitely don't feel relief right away. Sometimes I stand up for a minute then try again and can pee more but other times I just have to wait and it goes away in a few minutes.

The last few days I've had like a stretching/painfully full feeling in my lower abdomen more than just when I wake up and really need to pee. I'm worried that I might be a bit constipated though I've been able to go each day but a couple of the days do not seem to be enough. I struggle during weekends and I had an extra day off this weekend but weekdays I'm usually more regular so I'm hoping it sorts itself out. I guess it could also just be the baby growing and stretching so like more of a prolonged RLP...

  • @marriedhamstermom I've been having the stomach stretch/pains too. It's bizarre that especially even in the middle of the night, I feel like my stomach is more stretched/bigger than even during the day sometimes. I went in for my 24 week appt today though, and the doctor did say that Braxton Hicks/mild practice contractions may be starting soon too. I'm a FTM so I don't know exactly what they feel like, but from research I'm pretty sure I actually had one on Saturday already.

@WinchesterGirl I've actually found that I'll usually go to the bathroom to empty my bladder and then I'll just sit there for 2 minutes, maybe rock a little bit, and then go again a little more. I try to not like... push it all out in one long stream if that makes sense? Ease into the major deflation and movement of organs haha

  • @WinchesterGirl I've had the same thing. It hurts while I'm peeing and then a minute or so after. Also feels like maybe it's a relief of pressure but it's definitely painful to wait too long to go!

  • @cruffino.  I'm so glad you posted that as I've been having pain when walking/hiking too.  Not as but it's there.  I'm going to order the band now.
  • Has anyone been experiencing rib pain? I've woken up in the night to pee and had excruciating pain in my ribs (the side I've been sleeping on) and a popping/pinching sensation. The few times it has happened, I've been sleeping with the snoogle supporting my front -- am I doing it wrong?! My ear also feels bruised. I think I'm falling out of love with the snoogle...
  • Wow! I'm sorry so many of you are having the same bladder pains, but I guess that means it's not just me! Thanks ladies for all chiming in. I will try the tip about taking things a little slower @TeacherMom2517

@marriedhamstermom I have been having the pain at night, too! I assumed I was just lying wrong.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • Add me to the heartburn train. I've always had issues with it, but this sucks extra. My doc said if it's really bad, take two Zantac 75s. Omepraezole is not recommended during pregnancy, though, which sucks, because it's been my lifesaver for years. The only other thing that helps is a shot of apple cider vinegar every night before I go to bed. The unfiltered kind is best. Also, eating a big ol' pickle can help. Don't believe the hype about milk/ice cream/other basic liquids. They will relieve the discomfort temporarily, but will only cause your stomach to produce more acid in response. A little gently (natural! Avoid processed stuff like soda!) acidic food or drink on a regular basis will help your stomach to regulate.
  • @NiceyMeany I used to take omeprazole before pregnancy.  My OB switched me to lansoprazole. I think it's still not completely safe but safer. Thank God,  though.

  • My lower back pain has been getting worse. Makes me think this will be a big baby again!
  • Why did I wake up EVERY single hour to pee, last night? I don't even pee that much when I'm awake.

  • @WinchesterGirl I have definitely experienced that too! It is pretty painful to empty my bladder and then I can't stand up for like a minute. I thought it was because of the constipation but it looks like a lot of us are experiencing this... bummer haha. Report back on what your doctor says, and I hope some of these tricks work for yoU!
  • @AfKash me too (well maybe close to every hour)...I got up 5 times to pee!  I can't imagine what it's going to be like when baby is bigger.

  • Has anyone had experience with heart palpitations or more of an irregular heartbeat? I had some issues this morning and they sent me for an EKG. Not sure if it's just my body adjusting at times to the increased blood flow or if it is something more
  • @lfrank12 Yes, but I've always had some very minor heart issues. I had an EKG the same day as my 20 week US, and I'm scheduled for an Echo (which they may want to do for you) at 28 weeks. It definitely feels scary, but for me it's never been anything they've been super concerned about. My former cardiologist thought about putting me on a halter monitor at one point, but never did. The benefit to that is they can record how often the palpitations are occurring (since you're not likely to have any during the EKG). It's probably the blood flow thing- they told me last time that I should expect more of that but not to worry about it (and acknowledged that telling a FTM not to worry about things is dumb :) ). FX that your EKG is normal!

  • @lfrank12 I have been experiencing this for the majority of my pregnancy. I had some chest issues prior but they weren't heart related (inflammation of the breastbone where it attaches to the rest of me) so I don't think that is causing it. It almost feels fluttery or gurgle-y and sometimes I lose my breath because it skips a beat for so long. I have noooo idea if it is normal but I'm feeling it too haha!
  • Sciatic pain has kicked in. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't on my feet for 8-10 hrs a day! I may have to give up wearing my flats. They are of no service to my back either.
  • Contrary to my weekly pregnancy update email....my nips are not any less sore....they hurt so much! And I pee about 6,000 times a day lol
