My UO...I don't like Halloween. I just don't care for it. I am not a crowds person so anywhere we go it's just stressful. I wish I could just go in my house turn off all the lights and watch scary movies all night. Instead I have to take my son to a haunted hayride! I'm too tired to do anything much less pretend not to be scared when a creepy looking teenagers jumps out of the bushes. I might just throat punch them! I am looking forward to living in Rhode Island at this time next year, so we can go to Salem.
@JonesBaby0624 I like taking DS trick or treating because he's still little and cute, but I can not with any of the haunted stuff. I'm such a baby and just want to cover my eyes the whole time
@Yiggle09 I love turkey! Yummm, now I'm thinking of gravy.
I don't like coffee, which is unpopular amongst people these days it makes me sleepy. But since I have been pregnant I love coffee. Which is how I found out I was pregnant, the smell was so inviting and I just had to have a cup. Have any of you experienced something similar to this?
My coworker has a vegetarian friend who could not resist eating meat when she became pregnant. She went back to being a vegetarian after she had her baby.
I agree about the scary stuff, I hate it! DH and our friends always want to go to thirteenth gate and I'm like why should I pay $25 to be scared and not enjoy myself. No. At least this year I have an excuse.
Mine is something I'm just aggravated about right now so it's fresh on my mind. I don't think I should have to cut old people slack just because they're old. Like I'll hold a door open or help them carry something, but I will not excuse your A-hole behavior just because you are old. Today I was at the service counter of my local grocery store picking up a western union and an old man walked up to the counter next to me and waved his newspaper at the cashier (he didn't say a word). Then the cashier said can I help you and the old man just waved the newspaper at him again (still didn't speak a word to the cashier) So the cashier was like, do you need to buy that?? So the cashier rang him up while the computer was looking up my thing and the old man looked over at me and said "I didn't mean to just cut in front of you like that hahaha." Bullshit. You knew exactly what you were doing.

@CajunSnowWhite89 OH MY GOSH! yes! I work in a credit union and I really don't like when elderly people act entitled. I've seen some elderly people patiently wait their turn or they gently let me know that they will sit and when I have a chance to call them up. But the ones that cut the line and grunt really irk me.
I do not like things that come from chocolate batter. Cake, brownies, cookies, etc. But I love regular chocolate.
As for the others I love me some turkey and mash potatoes (no casseroles for me though), also Halloween was so magical growing up I cannot help but love it. There is something wonderful about everyone dressing up. As for coffee it smells fab, but tastes like hot garbage. @CarmCeG that is wild that you like it now! I wish my taste buds would decide to like something new. I'm so picky and I hate it.
JonesBaby0624, Salem is INSANITY at Halloween! It's fun, but if you hate crowds, it might send you over the edge! (I live about 20 mins from Salem).
Hmmm...I'm hard-pressed to come up with an UO today. I really dislike staged, "look at how pretty my life is" pictures on Facebook. They drive me crazy. Listen, random friend of mine on Facebook, I know it took you at least 1 dozen shots to get your seated toddler looking right at the camera and smiling. You and your #soblessed, #sweetesttoddler aren't fooling me. Or the pics of flowers that someone's SO sent them...the curated Facebook life always seems so fake and braggy to me.
@JonesBaby0624 I agree about Halloween!! I never liked it. I don't look good in slutty costumes, and I don't like overcrowded parties (especially when everyone is just wasted). Plus I really don't like cheap candy. The funny thing is, I got into quite the debate a few days a go with a coworker of mine who is my age (30) over whether or not it's appropriate for 30 year olds to celebrate Halloween. I, of course, said no way, it's for the kids, but he was completely taken aback that I feel this way haha.
Anyway, the one good thing about Halloween is that it kicks off the rest of the holiday season. And I'll celebrate anything that makes a Minnesota winter go by faster.
I do not like things that come from chocolate batter. Cake, brownies, cookies, etc. But I love regular chocolate.

Yes, my SO was super shocked when I asked him if he wanted coffee, because I was going to make myself some. He was like yeah you might be pregnant, because you hate the stuff. Pre-pregnancy me does not like coffee nor the smell. I couldn't even stand being in places that sell it. lol
I've never had casserole, but I'll admit they do not look appetizing to me.
@Kipperoo I too live in Mass and agree about the Salem insanity this time of year! @JonesBaby0624 You totally have to go to Salem in an off-weekend, like, in any month but October. They always bring in more police to round up the hooligans and drunkards, LOL. But def worth a visit. It's witchy and historical all year round
@CajunSnowWhite89 - I got conned into a haunted hayride once in college, and a Scream man scared me as I was coming out of the port-a-potty. We weren't even IN the place yet! I started to cry, closed my eyes, and had to be led around like a blind person the rest of the time!
@Louise_Belcher - I'll never forget... I participated in a cake walk when I was 4? 5? and I had my eye on a plate of cookies in case I won. Well, my friend won and she let me choose the prize. I THOUGHT they were sugar cookies with chocolate icing... I took a huge bite out of a CHOCOLATE COOKIE and was scarred for life.
@CarmCeG - I am DYING that you said you've never had a casserole. It's so funny to me, because they encompass SO MUCH! Anything can be a casserole! I'm sure it's a regional thing, but suffice it to say that my mind is blown.
@Kipperoo & @SKZW I hadn't thought of that but it totally makes sense. I'm excited to go to Salem but I'll definitely wait for a different month. I'm also excited about moving up to the northeast. I'll be moving from Oklahoma in August. Although, when I was there everyone made fun of my accent.

Omg I'm dying! Coffee tastes like hot garbage!!! I couldn't agree more!!! But it does smell great!
This!! Thanksgiving is THE best!! My dad said he was doing instant potatoes this year (he's having medical issues and can't stand for long periods of time). I told him he's nuts and I'll make the potatoes. I told him I'll come over and cook the whole meal. I did it back in 2010 when his smoker blew up in his face. He had burns all over his arms and such. He sat at the kitchen table and directed me as to what to do. I'll do it again!
@CajunSnowWhite89 totally agree about older people. I worked at the counter at a dry cleaners in high school and the old people would come in and just act like total jerks to me, for no reason whatsoever. Younger and middle-aged people were so nice, it was the elderly that were just bitter or something.
My UO - I hate M&Ms. I'm feeling super controversial today.
@CarmCeG - I am DYING that you said you've never had a casserole. It's so funny to me, because they encompass SO MUCH! Anything can be a casserole! I'm sure it's a regional thing, but suffice it to say that my mind is blown.
THIS! Okay, @CarmCeG -- I'm just gonna throw a few out there, without naming them, tell me if you've ever had: chicken with mixed veggies in creamy mushroom soup over biscuits; green beans with almonds and crunchy crispy fried onion bits; chicken stewed together all day with tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers and onions; tuna with noodles in a creamy sauce; sliced potatoes layered with a cheesy sauce baked til a golden brown on top; broccoli and rice and broth all mixed together and steamed in a big pan; cabbage rolls with ground meat and tomato sauce and rice... what about sloppy joes? mac and cheese? Technically, pot pies, lasagna, and enchiladas are casseroles too! Okay, I'm done. I'm actually making myself hungry...
I have been counting down the days to Thanksgiving! It's going to be glorious!
My unpopular opinion- I get overly annoyed with parents/ individuals who freak out over every cough and blow common sickness completely out of proportion. We hardly ever take our kids or ourselves to the doctor and I feel they never take us seriously.
This may or may not be a UO, since some jumped on board with the posting.....
but moms who say "zomg, I feel movement!" at like 9 weeks make me roll my eyes so damn hard. No, no, no. That's gas. Literally, you just need to fart.
YASS. Especially speshul snowflake posts.
Similar UO: Non-scientific gender tests get a huge eye roll from me. Like, it's literally a 50/50 chance that your gender predicting method will get it right. Just flip a coin!
I said this in another thread so I'll say it here -- I don't like women-only baby showers. The dad should be at the shower for his child (excluding showers that are at the mother's workplace or whatever--I'm talking about a party that someone such as a friend or relative throws for you). And once the dad is invited, male family & friends of both parents ought to be invited as well. Having only women perpetuates the idea that women should take the lead or sole role in parenting and that only women are interested in babies.
Now I wrote that in a judgmental way because it's UO Thursday but in reality I feel "to each his/her own" and wouldn't protest attending a women-only shower or anything like that. In fact I have been to some and not minded or thought twice about them. I just don't like the idea of them and never would have done one that way myself (as a guest of honor or an organizer).

A couple of years ago my aunt was in charge of mashed potatoes. We have a LARGE gathering for thanksgiving, I'm talking 40 people. Well she decided to let me cousin cook the potatoes. He boiled the potatoes for so long that he literally boiled all the water away and burnt the potatoes! And my aunt still served them! They tasted like smoke. Thanksgiving dinner was ruined for me that year. You can NOT have thanksgiving dinner without potatoes, it was just awful.
Needless to say, my aunt and cousin are banned from all potatoes for family gatherings. Lol

@jessbruxanovaa I hate ketchup too and only kinda like BBQ sauce (as long as it isn't too sweet, which most are). I'm a Texan too so you aren't alone :-).
I don't like cats. Kittens are cute and ok, but not after they grow up. It is probably because I'm allergic, and also highly sensitive when they scratch me (it swells and itches). I'm convinced they are evil creatures. Dogs are the best .
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
Wow, guys. I disagree wholeheartedly with all of the food related UOs....except M&Ms and ketchup (except on potato products...but you touch my burger with the stuff and I will cut you). Those are garbage foods.
I am also in the anti-cat camp! The only cats I like at all are ones who act like dogs. Dogs are the greatest creatures and people don't deserve them.
I feel like my UO has been brought up before, but I'm going to throw it out there anyways. I hate Lularoe. Not just the pyramid scheme, constant blowing up of my FB, but I hate their clothes. The patterns are super tacky, the clothes are all over priced, and most are just not flattering. Don't get me wrong, I love a good legging, but give me a $20 solid colored pair from Target, and I'm a happy camper.

@CajunSnowWhite89 I agree but my DH totally thinks the elderly are entitled to be jerks! He says that they've earned it and that's just what happens. I'm like, your grandparents were cranky old people because they were cranky young people, and so help me if you turn cranky then I'm putting you on a raft somewhere and sending you out to sea so no one has to deal with you.
