I would say that milk coming in is painful, and I would also say that letdown is painful, but I get fire nipples to the extreme sooo... every boob is different though!
When my milk came in, I woke up to hard nobby breasts with an urge to either feed or pump to release the pressure. I ended up pumping and had almost 2oz! Now I'm just waiting for my breasts to meet his demands so we're still supplementing (mainly at night when he seems to feed more often) but we're down to 2-4 supplements out of 8-10 feedings.
I'm freaked out with how much is he getting since he is so small, I don't want to assume it's enough and him lose unnecessary weight, but I'd prefer to stop formula if I can. @TurtleMomma recommended a weight feeding with my local LC, so they weigh Jace before I feed him, then again afterwards so we know how much he got and if I really need to supplement anymore. My appt for that is Tuesday so I think that will help ease my mind.
Little Sean wants to eat all night long he is really wanting the thick milk to come in which it started to today. I'm hope he'll start sleep mote than 15 minutes before feeding. Rough 3 days with him not sleeping because he was hungry. I refuse to suppiment. I'd rather pull 6 all nighters. Anyone else having cramping that feels like contrations. My Uterus is trying to kill me.
@Mintz1982 the uterus-shrinking contractions are no joke. I'm in my 6th day post-delivery and I still occasionally get the painful contractions while breastfeeding. It apparently gets worse with each pregnancy.
How long is too long without pooping? We are now on day 7 sincebi delivered (and pooped) with no poops. And I don't have the urge to, or an upset stomach or bloated feeling.
Also, my feet were so swollen after delivery that now that they are back to normal size, they are so sore in certain spots. Almost bruised feeling. This is all so weird.
@ignoscemihi sometimes when he is eating I feel like I'm being stabbed baby number 3 did not remember that part.
@sjo_thetwins post partum swelling is no joke I went from tiny skinny feet to nasty feet and I can't get my shoes on. I have to take SJ back to hospital for jaundice re test and I may be wearing my slippers I can't get my shoes on.
@sjo_thetwins Not an expert on PP pooping, but are you taking stool softeners? Also try to eat a bunch of fiber and maybe that'll help. A week sounds like a long time....but I'm not sure if it's TOO long?

@sjo_thetwins My nurse said their cutoff is day 4. I didn't have a BM in the hospital and went home on day 4, and the nurse said I needed to do whatever it took to go that day. Usually if a woman hadn't had a BM by that day, then they were advised to come back in to see a doctor. So I ended up going when I got home from the hospital.
So a whole weeks sounds a little long to me. Definitely try stool softeners or fiber bars or even some fiber supplements. Heck, try going out and getting a big old greasy burger, or spicy taco, or other food that usually gets the pipes working.
Good luck! That first one was not fun for me...probably because I waited so long because I was worried about my incision.
@bamacoop I was getting worried too but the doctors hadn't said anything about a BM or time frame. I just legit did not have to go. But the magic thing was coffee this morning, I suppose. It was awful but I feel a whole lot lighter! Lol
@sjo_thetwins I was going to suggest a hot drink in the morning! That always works for me. Glad the first PP poop is done and out of the way. I thought the stool softeners helped to keep them coming too. And walking around (I know that is probably rough for you)
@sjo_thetwins I'm glad your swelling went down! The skin is pretty f-ed up from stretching but give it a few days and it should feel less tender and I guess startvshrinking back. I was worried I'd get stretch marks all over my lower half of my body from just the swelling but I don't think it happened, if that's even possible!
Also, I know everyone says not to really drink much caffeine when breast-feeding but, I just remembered in addition to Colace and prune juice, sometimes a couple cups of coffee does the trick to poop too
Sorry I've been MIA, it has been quite an adjustment with a 4 day old and dealing with post c-section recovery.
@AshleyGemini24 yep I just saw they're on Amazon. I LOVE the mesh underwear, especially because I don't have to worry about it messing with my incision.
My milk came in yesterday. God, this engorgement is horrendous. My breasts look and feel like they are filled with lead. So uncomfortable. I read it goes down within 24-48 hours so I'm hoping that happens soon. Also, I have to change outfits more than Grayson because I literally leak (and by leak I mean it RUNS) everywhere.
@AshleyGemini24 The mesh panties made me very itchy so I use adult diapers. I've been using Always brand and they are comfortable and go high over my incision.
Adult diapers seem to be working very well for me. FI cracked up yesterday when i said i had to change Robert's diaper, then I'd change mine. but no shame here
So my boobs are so engorged little Sean can't keep up with my production I don't want to pump because then my over production prolem may cause Mastitis I'm not sure what to do. To pump or not to pump.

I've never been there since I'm still pregnant (grrrrr) but have you tried hand expressing to relieve some of the pressure?

I am having an over supply problem too. DD is 11 days old. This morning I couldn't take the pain and pumped for 6 mins. I got 4 oz from each side. I don't know how to help adjust my production. It hurts!

Anyone else finding PP emotions worse than pregnancy emotions. It seems all i can do is cry. Sometimes there's a reason. Sometimes there's not. I cried alot during pregnancy but the last few days have been a water fest.
@btsrc5 I'm trying not to pump because it could increase my supply I got sick when I had my 4 year old because my supply messed up. I'm doing the heat before feedings and ice after right now
Congratulations @NoraAurora! I've been totally MIA. We had a tough first week with breastfeeding, so I've only been focused on that. I think we finally have it down now!
Anyone ne else who has crazy swollen feet, have they gone down yet?! Mine are driving me insane!
@NoraAurora The PP cramps are stupid insane with subsequent pregnancies. Sick joke if you ask me! I may have woken up and cried a little because of them once...
@NoraAurora Congratulations!!! This is my first but my PP contractions were horrendous in the hospital!! Thank god they're over. @AllyTheKid I was in tears several times because of them! I said to DH I thought having a c-section meant I could skip labor!
AshleyGemini24 Yeah, my emotions are crazy. I didn't cry when I was pregnant, but now I cry at everything. I'll just be sitting here, or even have company and I just break down. So embarrassing.

I have pretty painful letdown, especially if the boys don't eat every three hours.
