Re: Symptoms 10/2

  • Swelling. My hands and feet are ridiculous. Blood pressure is actually low but I check 4x a day after my pre-e last pregnancy I'm terrified of swelling (even though this is pretty normal level swelling so far).

You just reminded me to go take mine - the fear of repeat pre-e is real!!! 114/75, still looking good so far. I have to admit, this is my biggest fear of starting a job at 31wks... Fingers crossed the first few weeks will be so low key it will have minimal effect on my bp

  • - I legit cannot get up from a lying position without assistance or expending all of my energy.
    - Really itchy belly, but so far no stretch marks.
    - The overwhelming sensation to nest.
    - Breathing at about 50% of full capacity. Which makes me wonder how @brittnic86 and the other beautiful moms of multiples are doing..

Literally all the same for me, but also i can't lift my left leg (like marching or bending at the knee) because the pressure is too much on my pelvis.

    Pregnancy Ticker

  • Also starting to get light swelling, mostly in my feet though. It gets better after I put up my feet for a while, but been taking my BP every time it happens or I get a headache. It's been a bit high the past few readings so I'm trying not to worry, but keep a close eye on it and make sure I'm not dehydrated since I've been so busy lately sometimes I don't drink as much water as I need to. An hour ago it was 145/100 after my bath. :/

Quality of sleep decreasing---waking up in a sweat.
    Increased heartburn.
    Nesting like crazy.

  • MS as always. Today marks the third day we've spent in L&D this month. Along with the MS is dehydration headaches and sore ribs from all the heaving. Also heartburn, getting fatigued more easily, and unable to put my shoes on because my belly gets in the way.
  • Haha I cough a lot ladies. Like a lot a lot.

My feet and hands are swollen. Heartburn even with prescription meds. Getting up is also hard @cayaylonglegs, but don't you have a remote controlled bed?! Tired always, but finally sleeping after only sleeping 3 hours a night for two weeks. Oh abs course, peeing when I cough

Yup!  Swelling started this past week.  I haven't checked my BP though.  Oy.  Mostly just swelling in my fingers, and I only notice because I am still wearing my wedding ring.  Ankles feel swollen, but aren't.

Also, leg cramps at 5 am...I'm achy.....28 weeks today.  "Three months to go"...... 3 months seems like a long time, but when I say it as 12 weeks, it doesn't seem so long.  Hmph.

  • Lots of acid reflux
    backaches
    shortness of breath
    feel the need to nest
obsessed with feeling baby move and freaking myself out when he doesn't move for awhile. Seriously, some days he moves a lot and others he doesn't, like today, not much movement=me freaking out.
  • My neurosis over kicks and baby movement might do me in. Not long after 3 am I woke up with this overwhelming need to lie awake and do kick counts right then. I needed to count 15 before I was satisfied. I never went back to sleep. I think I want him to just move constantly and continuously and never stop. I wish I could relax.

  • Damn restless leg! Like clock work, my left leg starts spazzing around 8 - 8:30 every night the past week. Luckily I'm tired enough I can fall asleep fast enough that it's not messing with my sleep (yet). Going to talk to my OB about magnesium since it's getting pretty annoying not to be able to relax/unwind in the evenings. (Yeah, I know...get used to not being able to relax...blah blah blah)
  • -I think I'm coming down with a cold. ohhhhhh I hope not.
    -heartburn. bad.
-weird about food. Like I will sit there and day dream about these magnificent things to eat and then like an hour into this I'll realize I'm doing it because I'm hungry. And then I'll eat something and feel like food is ridiculous
-mood swings like you wouldn't believe
-fatigue but mostly from not sleeping well
    -my hips are screaming
    -restless legs
    -no memory.

Very similar to most of you!

    • Swelling... feet/ankles and now fingers. At my last appointment in 9/20, my BP was good so they didn't have any concerns with pre-e. We have a BP thing at home, as DH is constantly checking his so maybe I should start doing that every night. I have my next appointment tomorrow and will see what my OB says since everything is still swollen from last week, whereas last week they were swollen but went back down after a few days. I also haven't been able to wear my wedding ring since Friday. Even my stand-in ring (which used to be WAY too big and needed a sizer) is tight. I've upped my water intake (adding lemon to it, too), ice my feet at night, bought some compression socks (although the lowest number they have out there), etc. Nothing has helped.
    • Coughing more, or I feel it's been more
    • Some itching of my belly, but no stretch marks yet. I have been using a toning/tightening lotion on my stomach for years and have continued so I am pretending that it has helped. However, I just realized after typing this out that I didn't put ANY lotion on today after I showered. No wonder my skin (arms, legs) have felt dry. PG brain?
    • Hungry all the time. I eat to feel good, but than am hungry an hour later. And, something I crave doesn't usually taste that great and then am disappointed.
    • Restless legs, but only at night and after I have been sitting on the couch. If I get up a nd move a bit, that does seem to help.
    • Dry boring hair.
    • Yes to the worrying about baby when not feeling him. He was very chill yesterday, but when I woke up around 3am I could feel him moving around so that made me feel better.
    • I think baby has dropped more and am contemplating buying a maternity belt for support.

Yes, I'm doing this exactly. So strange. Almost nothing tastes like I want it to either. And then I'll eat something completely random and just nearly freak out with how amazing it is - yesterday I ordered a soft taco with chicken at our usual Mexican place and it was like:

  • Insomnia... he never ending story over here
Hip and back pain is getting beyond unbearable
Pants - Apparently my new enemy? I can't put them on standing up or without pain anymore
Hunger - I'm not hungry, pretty much ever. Nothing sounds good and I have to force myself to eat
Pelvic pressure and/or urge to pee every time I walk anywhere
My mood sucks too. I just have no motivation and am super hormonal.
  • Acid reflux
Stretch marks - I am doing surprisingly well with the appearance of these. I thought I would get more emotional that all the lotions and what not aren't preventing them, but while I may moan about them to my husband, they're my tiger stripes for carrying a happy, healthy, baby!
Back pain - been having this since second trimester, went through physical therapy for it
Growing pains - augh, they catch me off guard and HURT
Swelling feet - freak me out a bit when they swell (my mom also likes to tell me that my face and hands are swelling too) - but I sleep with them elevated and wake up to my ankles being back
Cravings - I want so much food! I have a list started of things I want people to bring me at the hospital (medium cooked steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, brie with apricot jam on top wrapped in bread, a beer)
Lungs - I cannot breath. I feel ridiculous talking because I feel like I am panting and running out of breath

  • -Definitely feeling limited lung capacity - as an unexpected side effect of that, I think I'm getting panic attacks more easily because I already can't breathe.

-Hips and pelvis are so sore.

-No abdominal strength - I thought I'd be having a hard time getting up because I'm so big, but it's actually because I can't tense my abs at all. Makes sense but I wasn't expecting it.

    -So moody.

-Weird food stuff too - I can't eat a lot at once, so I feel constantly hungry, but never sure what I want. All our usual go-to home cooked meals sound blah to me now.
  • -Leg cramps, but they go away quickly when I flex my feet.

-Restless legs, but Dh rubs them at night while I rub DD's little legs. She's started bringing me lotion in the evenings and saying, "legs" now, which is super cute.

-General achiness, especially when lowering myself to sit down. Apparently I'm making some groany sound effects because DD started making little "ugh, oomph, eh"s when she sits now. I'm a terrible role model lol.

-Little room for food. I'm looking forward to this baby dropping so I can get control over my stomach again.

Otherwise actually doing pretty well. I'm moving well, no swelling, mood is decent, etc. Let's see how long this lasts...

  • -numb hands 24/7 but it seems to have leveled off finally!! I've been doing chiro/pt to help bring my posture back in line, sleep with a sweet combo of braces and compression gloves. Wake up once a night to ice my hands.
-Hand swelling- goes with the above. Finally tried compression gloves and they do make them feel a lot better! Ive noticed that it's a lot better on days where I don't "over do it" (which is seriously SO MINIMAL of a threshold, it's sad)
-Insomnia- Body thinks wake up time is 3:30 am.... wtf.
-knees are feeling the extra weight (esp when getting off the floor, etc)

  • Ugly, purple veins on my under-boobs. DH and I joked, scary spider boobs just in time for Halloween! Mild heartburn at times. RLS is terrible! Every night, I have a routine of leg exercises and stretching, but still have trouble falling asleep because of it. Thankfully, working night shift I think I may have tricked my body into not RLSing while I'm sleeping during the day, so haven't lost much sleep during the work week. Weird skin-tightening sensations on my belly when getting up from a lying or sitting position. It feels like my skin is literally stretching apart. No stretch marks yet, but I always immediately check right after it happens.

Do it!  I got a cheap one last week to test it out and it has made such a difference!  So much so that I caved and splurged on a Blanqui.  Which reminds me, they sent me a link to share with friends - says it should give you 20% off your purchase if you use code "BLANQIFRIEND" (https://blanqi.refr.cc/2BQQVPP).  I wish I had tried it months ago, no more bottom-of-the-bump ache.
  • -Indigestion: but only with sweets. Somedays I'm completely fine. This morning I started my day with an apple cider donut and I've been suffering ever since.
-Lots of lower pelvic pressure that I didn't have with both previous full term pregnancies. Dr says it's just because DD2 and this one are so close. She better be right!
-Discomfort that I can only describe as mentral cramping. Again I've mentioned these to my OB and they're saying it's partaining to sequential pregnancy so close.
-Kungfu kicks out my right side and solid jabs to the cervix. I'd be happy to go without the lightning crotch already.

All in all though I've been pretty comfortable on a daily basis. Just occasional discomfort.

@DiFazette Honestly feeling anxious and down today for no reason. I think I overdid it today. :[

Physically I'm feeling okay, although I feel exhausted because of the meds. When I was at the doctor the other day, they told me they don't want to increase my dose yet because the top number has been significantly lower than what it was before I started despite the bottom number getting no lower than 86. The lowest reading I've had so far has been 128/86 or very close to that when I'm at the doctor---the other day it was 128/96. Past few home readings have been a bit high.

I had a few headaches last week and I brought them up including the BP readings, and when they asked where they are, I was told that they are tension headaches caused by muscle straining in my neck--which made sense to me considering I've been furiously cleaning lately and tylenol makes them go away. They said with any headaches the BP will increase, but it's not enough to make them get too worried yet. They told me to write down every time I get a headache and record the BP so we can keep an eye on it. So yeah. Bleh.
  • thinking of you @dmontgo !

holy sore feet and swelling!! I can be sitting at a bench all day and my feet still feel puffy :|

  • @DiFazette He hasn't said a specific number, but I will ask. I think the 145/100 is a bit too high considering the meds as well...and I do think my anxiety is caused by the increasing BP. Before I got on meds, I'd have deep anxiety about drowning in the bathtub, or Ash dying. Got on meds, those feelings went away. The past few days I'm  constantly thinking about how angry I am at that girl lying to her parents about not being married...even though I haven't spoken to her or thought about her in months, and she ended up moving away.

Next step would be Aldomet 4x a day + Labetlol. I'm going to keep recording my home readings and push for help at the next appointment if they don't lower. It's scary. :(
  • @dmontgo ok, hang in there.  They will start to intervene at 150/90 for me.  First step would be meds.  Take care of yourself and you know how to reach me - don't hesitate to drop me a line.

  • I'm having low blood pressure the past few weeks. It's so weird because I've had high bp since DD was almost born (2.5 years). This whole pregnancy I've been around 130/80 and the past 2 I've been waking up to 95/55 and only going to about 115/65 by the evening. It's so strange. I need to talk to the Dr about it.

I'm still worried I'll get pre-e like last time. That fear is never far from my mind.

  • I really appreciate all the conversation about blood pressure numbers on here. I've been monitoring mine because my mom had pre-eclampsia with me so I'm monitoring mine at home for any deviation. It's one thing to google about numbers and warning signs it's another to read what real people's doctors are telling them to watch out for.

    - heartburn/acid reflux
    - some hip pain

And just to show you how sadly out of shape I am - I was in my cousin's wedding on Saturday and did a lot of getting up and down off the floor while I was helping the other bridesmaids with their hair and also carried 30 pound DD (the flower girl) a ton. My legs have been so stiff and sore since then! Haha it's pitiful, I know. I'm ashamed! :joy:

Oh my gosh... it's like you are all reading my mind!!
-My hands and feet are swollen, even when I sleep. With previous pregnancies, they'd go down when I slept, but not this time!
-My BP was def creeping up the other week, it was like 138/89- which doesn't sound high, but is very high for me. I have really low blood pressure normally. We will see where it's at at my appointment tomorrow! I'm also really paranoid of pre-e like I had my first pregnancy.
    - I can't breathe.
    - I'm tired and can't sleep.
    - I can't think. Pregnancy brain is real, people.
    - the same with food: I dream of food all day, then when I eat it, it's just not as good as it usually is.
    - Heartburn and acid reflux.
    - Belly pain, back pain. But they are much better now that I have my Blanqi support! I recommend it, big time.
    - My baby keeps flipping! So painful and awesome at the same time. He was head down 2 days ago, and is now breech again. When he is breech, I get these random, really sharp, breath stopping pains in my cervix. I think @maamawaabangi had described something like that earlier... and I think he is trying to kick his way out...

    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers

    • Hip pain - I think this is the most significant symptom for the last several weeks. I've been seeing a chiropractor (thank god my insurance covers it), and that has helped, but it's still painful.
    • My right knee, which has given me trouble since I was a teenager (former soccer player here), is getting pretty bad. I feel like if I take one wrong step or put too much weight on it, it's going to blow.
    • Stuffiness - I don't know if it's just pregnancy congestion or if I'm getting a cold. I'm not sure which would be better - if it's just pregnancy congestion, chances are I'm stuck with it until baby comes. A cold would suck, but it should be over in a week or so, right?
    • Constantly out of breath, even when I'm just talking. I think people at work think I'm always really nervous when I'm presenting, but I just can't effing breathe!
    • Trouble sleeping, and it's killing me at work. I'm going to ask if I can start working from home one day a week so I can sleep in another hour.
    • Nipple pain. Like searing hot pain, usually in the right one. It's torture - nothing makes it feel better until it just passes on its own!

  • Thinking about all you ladies with blood pressure/pre-e concerns.

I have the usual stuff; awful heartburn, racing heart for no reason, can't sleep, bad sciatica, bad pain in pelvic bone.  I've been heading to the bathroom a minimum of 8 times a night so I finally went in to pee in a cup yesterday...UTI, but at least I'm on meds now.

I got a new experience last night that I would be happy to never repeat though...I was having BH and I got a horrible, stabbing pain in my right shoulder.  I was worse than any labour pains I can remember, it literally dropped me to the floor.  Dr. Google is scary and though we didn't head to the hospital this time, I might if it happens again.
  • How is everyone taking their blood pressure at home? When my feet swell, I get panicked, but have no idea how to check my blood pressure.
  • Pregnancy + cold is making me so short of breath.  I am trying to do laundry which unfortunately involves a lot of stairs and now I am so exhausted.  Ugh

@LinziLoo09 The best thing that has helped with the anxiety is by keeping busy, which sucks because then I overdo it. In the past I have been diagnosed with GAD, but haven't taken medicine in a long time because generally deep-breathing, self-care, and other techniques help a great deal and I get over it--it's usually general feelings of anxiety over unknown things.

With this anxiety, it is very specific. I've never been afraid of taking baths before, and that girl that wanted me to be in her wedding ---well, I got over that a long time ago. Before I got on the BP meds, I was afraid of baths (had DH be in the bathroom with me) and then when my BP lowered, those fears went away. Recently my BP has been experiencing an increase, and a couple of days ago I woke up out of deep sleep feeling *angry* at that chick, who I hadn't seen nor spoken to since April or May---ruminated about it for 2 days while awake.

Logically I *know* those fears and emotions are irrational--I can recognize that they are false fears since they are incredibly specific--so that's why I'm thinking it's my BP. But, I've never been pregnant before, so it's very hard for me to tell.

Today I'm feeling pretty good and trying to rest. I'm recording my feelings and BP and will show them to my doctors. They've been proactive so far, so I'm hoping they won't write me off.

@AbriannaO my husband is a medic, so he has the equipment to check my BP manually for me.

You can get an electronic wrist blood pressure monitor from any pharmacy or even Walmart for anywhere from $20-$50. Quick and easy. If you don't want a wrist one, there are electronic arm ones as well.
