Re: Symptoms 10/2

  • Had a crazy set of symptoms last night! Got up from the bed and while I was in the bathroom, I started uncontrollably shivering, like teeth chattering, tremors throughout my body shivering. It was so severe that DH thought I was going into shock! After about five minutes of burying under the covers, I finally warmed up, but it was frightening! I had no idea what was going on or how to stop it. Dr. Google tells me that this sort of thing can happen during pregnancy when blood pressure and blood sugars are low at the same time. I have an appointment on Tuesday, and I plan to tell the doc about it just to be safe, but has anyone else run into anything like this?

  • @allicat89 I'm glad you're Ok! Did you feel physically cold before you started shivering? I got palsy like shakes one night and we went to the ER. They took me to L & D, my vitals and the shakes had gone away by then. They still wanted to monitor me overnight and made me take something to sleep because I hadn't been sleeping well. Definitely mention to your doctor and keep us posted on what you find out!

  • Yesterday I had a decent amount of Braxton Hicks, but they were spread throughout the day so I wasn't too worried.  After I ate dinner they stoped completely.  This morning all I want to do is lay in bed all day but my hips really hurt and I can get comfortable - at all!

  • Hey everybody :-) I'm new and I haven't commented in a few days, but all my symptoms so far have been such downers that I wanted to give a positive/amusing one.  I have been checking for colostrum every day so that I can collect and freeze it, but so far all I've gotten is droplets.  Last night I sprayed myself in the face!  Then, I didn't believe what was happening, so I got another 3 or 4 squirts out.  Luckily, I had been just about to shower  :D

  • @FrancisD. Welcome! I'm not exactly sure what you mean by checking for colostrum, but make sure your doc knows you're doing it because nipple stimulation can cause contractions and I don't think would be recommended yet at this point unless you had a specific reason.....

I know I've mentioned this before - and I don't know if it's a twin thing or not but my vagina/crotch hurts super bad.  I'm okay when I'm sitting but when I move or get up it's and 8/9 out of 10 on the pain scale - and I'm pretty pain tolerant.  It very well could be the pressure from two babies, it could be the double dose of relaxin stretching out my ligaments and pelvis or it could be a concern.  Anyone else dealing with SERIOUS crotch pain?

I literally feel like like an entire MLB team used my vag as batting practice.

  • So here's a bit of a TMI symptom question. At 32 weeks (tomorrow) is it normal to feel a little leakage as I sit down resting? This is post pee so my first thought is that I didn't fully void. It also sometimes happens when I stand after sitting or laying down a while. I want to be sure I'm not ignoring this light trickle when I shouldn't.

@swhiddon33 I've always heard to put on a pad or pantyliner and see how much is caught within a hour.  If you're leaking amniotic fluid it will keep leaking (it will also smell sweet and may have color).  At this point it is not abnormal to leak some urine though, so that's a real possibility.

  • @DiFazette liner=check. I'll monitor what it captures today. I'm confused about fluids. I read that amniotic is completely clear, thinner, and may smell sweet Vs urine which could be colored and smell like ammonia Vs discharge which is normal unless it smells funky and has wacky coloring that has changed from your norm.

    Thus the confusion. Sigh.

  • @DiFazette the pelvic pain is real! Although I'm not carrying 2, this baby is measuring pretty large. I've also had 2 c-sections, the dr said that could be part of my swelling/pain. But when I get out of bed in the morning, I'm practically crying, also I get random sharp pelvic/cervix pains that make me yell and stop whatever I'm doing.

  • @swhiddon33 amniotic fluid can be green from meconium (I would hope not yet) or pink from loosing a little mucous plug.  Keep an eye on it and don't heisitate to call the after hours line if you feel like something is off.

@yellingbanana mine is constant.  It's like a 4-5 when sitting which I can handle, but it doesn't go away.  And once I'm up it's not sharp pains, it's constant.  I (and every other multiples)   mom has an overextended uterus but I don't see a correlation when I research.

Thanks @DiFazette!! As to your pain question...while I'm not carrying multiples I think it's safe to say my uterus is totes overextended & I definitely feel your pain. However, my pains (which seem to never cease now) are higher in my belly because Oliver is breech so I don't think I can say it's my crotch that he bothers AS MUCH as your babies bother yours. I often feel like I'm waddling around with a giant concrete block in my abdomen. A block that occasionally drop kicks my bladder or cervix. Yiyee. I'm also feeling way more lower back pain due to all the belly pressure. Yiyee again.

That's probably my biggest complaint symptom wise these days too. I was just talking to my husband about how much pressure I feel sitting on my pelvis. My vagina pain feels a lot like muscles after exercising, and just goes from sometimes hurting a lot to just being there. Like muscle pain I have to be moving to really feel the extent of it though. I could definitely see it being escalated @DiFazette with being two instead of just the one. But even sitting down today my pelvis can feel the weight. I'm trying not to imagine how that's going to feel for me as he continues to grow for the next 10weeks.  :|

  • All afternoon and evening I had BH every 15 minutes... not painful but very obviously a contraction. Drank water, rested and took a bath and went to bed early. Then I woke up with sciatica nerve pain running down my right leg. I was able to get it to minimize a bit after doing some yoga in the middle of the night... but it's no joke. I haven't dealt with that one before! I feel like something might have gone wonky when that thing happened a few weeks ago with severe cervical pain. Everything just feels off down there. I have 12/11 more weeks of this!
    Hugs you all!

And don't forget that when I doubt drink more water, stretch, lay down, drink some chamomile tea or take a nice hot bath! Most things are cured with that I've found... and if not give your provider a call!

Also, doing the "cat cow" stretch will naturally rock the baby out of your pelvis and get them a bit higher up and relieve that feeling like they are going to drop out or heaviness in your pelvis. I literally do them about 4 times a day just to function.

Due December 27th with baby #7

  • @maamawaabangi I hear you on the BH today!!

I pretty much have only felt good after my bath today for about 20 min....otherwise pretty crampy and back achey (but everything goes away when I lay down on my left side). Just not comfortable....

  • @Toller Thanks!  I'm 'checking' by compressing the aereola toward the chest to express the colostrum.  I want to freeze some before birth so as to avoid formula, should I have difficulties with milk production.  I have had some breast tissue removed, and I want to have the best chance of exclusively breastfeeding.  Some recent studies have shown that nipple stimulation throughout pregnancy does not necessarily result in preterm labor, as shown by women who are still breastfeeding the previous pregnancy's product when they give birth to the new one.  My midwives have cautioned me about it, but I've done my homework and my husband has been stimulating me all pregnancy, so I'm not worried LOL ;-)

  • @DiFazette I was just thinking about the vag pain I experienced last pregnancy and wondering where it was and if I had it to look forward to later! I had pain as bad as you described near constantly with DS but haven't had it at all this time. He was a big guy so it could have just been a combo of his weight plus where he was laying? Who knows! Hugs to you its no fun trying to walk with that.
  • @swhiddon33 this!! I feel your pain (literally)! It's terrible!
  • New one...
I get so easily annoyed/angry/stressed about things that I can normally push to the side and continue with my life. But now they keep me awake at night, and stressing during the day.
Earthquakes, hurricanes, politics, the 8,000 things I need to do before we have a baby, and worrying that I'm driving everyone around me crazy with my inability to focus.
There were no issues with this stuff with my other 2 pregnancies. So I don't get it.

  • @MBS2016 Yeah, I felt a little cold in the bathroom and then suddenly felt unbearably cold, and the shivering started. I will definitely keep you posted! And I am glad that you went in for your shaking symptoms! That sounds like a scary night. I am glad you're feeling better!
  • @yellingbanana I get frustrated so easily, too.  Mostly at DH and I feel bad about it.  I wanted to murder him twice this past weekend for slurping his cereal and eating popcorn too loudly.  These are normally minor irritations but I have no control over the fits of rage right now.

  • @DiFazette - is your crotch pain on the inside or outside?  I have occasionally been getting crotch pain on the outside when I stand up which just seems odd to me.  It doesn't sound as painful as yours but it will take me a minute or so to walk normal.  It really does feel like some one crotch punched me!
  • I've been sleeping like shit, but I just had an appointment with my endocrinologist and my thyroid is actually working better now than it was before pregnancy, so I'm a little hyperthyroid (rather than hypo). I'm scaling back my dosage a bit - hoping that helps with the insomnia! I'm tired of waking up at 4:00 or 4:30 every day...
  • @katiejo1216 it's both.  Super tender and sore on the outside and when I get up twist or try to turn over in bed it's inside and outside.

  • My tummy feels achy like when you either really need to pee but haven't in such a long time or how it feels right after emptying a too-full bladder. I'm glad the boy is in the right position for birth and hope he stays that way, but my pelvis isn't as thrilled.

  • UPDATE: Told doc about the shivering episode today. She had never heard of anything like that, but she rechecked my charts and tests and said that everything looked fine. She said that pregnancy is weird, and sometimes weird stuff happens. She said that if it happens again to call, but if not, then there is no need to worry. Huzzah!
  • Is anyone else getting super warm?  With the weather a little cooler, all the office building I'm going to have turned their heat on and I'm dying!  I'm super comfortable outside, then I get inside and I'm sweating haha.

  • @karmba, I still have the AC or fan running in our house because I get so freaking warm at night (gets to be in the low 50s outside at night). Husband shivers and wants the heat on, but then I can't get comfortable when warm. I swear I am running about 10 degrees warmer than most people.
  • I"m having circulation issues in my right hand - it falls asleep really easily, especially at night, and then takes forever to wake back up. It's starting to be a little unnerving. Anyone else?
  • @gowenc probably pregnancy induced carpal tunnel, fairly common.  I've had tingling and numbness in my right hand since about halfway through.  Doc said it's normal and unless it begins to impact everyday life, not a whole lot to do.

@karmba yes!  Yesterday was one of the first times I realized it was just me.  I started sweating hanging out on the couch at 9 last night so I stripped down to my tank top.  H comes downstairs and complains how cold it is (and he's never cold).  I also sweat when I sleep and I'm usually cold.  My hands and feet have been sweaty for a while but now I'm full blown sweating and radiating heat.

  • @DiFazette thanks - I always associated carpel tunnel with pain, I had no idea it could cause tingling too. Now to look for some things I can do to make it better, it's super annoying!
  • My right shoulder/neck has been driving me nuts again from side sleeping. I made the mistake of letting the chiropractor adjust it. It had gotten to a point where it wasn't bothering me anymore, and I think he just reset it to take the journey through misery again. Blissfully found out that the Bengay we have in the house is just the menthol kind and slathered some of that stuff on it today, that helped a lot.  Yesterday, all day long it never completely stopped hurting.

It's probably also not helping the shoulder with how much I'm needing to nap right now. Literally every day like it's first trimester all over again.

  • Can someone remind me what is considered high bp in pregnancy? I had pre-e last time and was put on modified bedrest for the last 3wks before delivery but my bp this go around had been golden. Whelp, I started my new job Monday and all the sudden it went from being 112-116ish to 129 and I went from almost no swelling to very swollen feet/ankles/calves  It could be I'm just getting to that point in this pregnancy but damn if it didn't start until this week
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @jennbaylor12 I asked my doc about this today, as I had been having some top readings that were high for me. Now, I was already on BP meds pre-pregnancy,  so my numbers may be different than yours. My doc is okay unless my numbers reach 140s/90s or 100s for more than 3 days in a row. I've been running anywhere from 90s/60s to 130s/80s.
  • My nausea is back. Right as I wake up in the morning I have to eat, then every time throughout the day that I get a little peckish if I don't eat immediately I am feeling sick. Its not my favorite symptom.
  • The fatigue is killing me this week! Having a desk job is absolute torture right now. My eyes don't wanna stay open, my belly doesn't allow me to sit properly in front of my computer to type, and my chair feels like it's made of stone and was built for Fred flintstone.
