Second Time Mom+ Check-In --9.21

Re: Second Time Mom+ Check-In --9.21

  • I totally forgot this on my earlier post... I will definitely be getting a second NOGGLE for this baby. DS used to be so sweaty when I would get him out of his carseat, and the Noggle was a game changer for us. Since this will be a summer baby (yes, May is summer in GA), it will be a must-have. My car my look like an alien species, but it is so worth it.

  • @MoshiMoshi7 we didn't have the infant insert, but I heard from a few people that it gets REALLY got with the insert in so I think I would worry about that with a May baby.  But I am also crazy paranoid so that might just be me.

I'm super excited that Tricare now covers breast pumps. I need a new RNP. I want a new diaper bag and a glider. I also want a Boba wrap, I have the Boba soft carrier and love it! My DH deployed right after I gave birth to DD so I moved home and didn't end up doing a nursery for her. I'm excited to do a nursery this time around!

I would really like a Bob Dullie. DD turns 3 at the very end of April. I'm worried that that's a lot of money and DD won't sit in the stroller for much longer. I walked a ton after having DD (like hour long walks) and I won't be able to do that if DD isn't in the stroller too (she doesn't ride her bike or walk fast enough. Any mom's with this age difference still buy a double stroller?

*Edit, didn't post all my comment.

I know!! It just hit me the other day. I was like "YES!!" I'm way too excited about it.
  • Here is another question, how long are nipples good for? I boiled and cleaned all of mine before storing. Should they be fine for this kid? They will be 3 years old. Is there a rule somewhere?

For DD2, I bought new nipples and used the same bottles! I'll probably do the same thing this time around, but part of me is questioning if the bottles are still ok? They will be 5 years old...?

  • @bacorrea I was told before if you pinch the nipple and it sticks together than the nipples need to be replaced, otherwise they are still good.

  • I also love the Baby K'tan! Now that my son is bigger, I mainly use the Ergo (courtesy of Ebay). With this baby, I'll probably use the K'tan when he/she is little- although I'm considering getting the Ergo infant insert? Any thoughts on that?

I'm also debating a double stroller. We had the Graco Click Connect Travel System- it was really nice being able to snap his infant car seat onto the stroller. We'll be reusing the infant car seat for this nugget, but obviously the stroller is for a single kid. My frugal side really wants to forego buying another stroller, but DS will only be 18 months when his sibling arrives.

  • @bacorrea Nipples and pacifiers do have an expiration. I don't remember what it is, but I know they don't last kid to kid. The concern is that they'll start to fall apart as the rubber breaks down and become a choking hazard.

Good to know! I guess just plan on new nipples then.

  • @emilyalso - I love reading that the noggle works! I'd been contemplating getting one for our 13 month old, but I didn't know anyone who had used one. I'm going to order one now, because it is still HOT in Texas!

  • I love my Becco Gemini carrier and am excited to use it with a new littler one as we wrestled with and Ergo with an infant insert for our daughter and then switched to the Gemini because of how she liked to face forward-- bonus points for the Gemini is no infant insert needed. Dreading the new stroller shopping though.

Also DH and I realized last night that we are going to have to rearrange our living situation.

  • We also had trouble with the Ergo with #1--the infant insert was awkward and it felt like he was never positioned properly. I bought a Bjorn and loved that. Plan to use that one this go around from the beginning!

  • @kayemjay2 We have the Joovy Caboose Too with the car seat attachment! It worked perfectly to snap the car seat in when DD2 was still little and DD1 could still have a full seat in the back (she had just turned 2 when her sister was born). I still use the stroller now with an almost 5 and 3 year old! I love that the back seat can come off and it becomes a sit n stand if my oldest doesn't want to sit in the seat, but I know her little legs will get tired! I also love that this stroller was in the low-mid range as far as pricing for double strollers, my frugal self couldn't justify a $600 double stroller either!

  • Nice to hear such great things about the Joovy Caboose Too! That's what I'm leaning towards...I hate the idea of an expensive one and I don't like anything too bulky!

We love it! I have a Toyota Highlander and with my third row of seats up I can still fit the stroller back there (and the Highlander doesn't have a lot of room behind the third row).

  • @h&p_momma (I'm not sure if this tagging thing is actually working right now!) That sounds perfect! Thanks :)
