Grayson Everlie made her appearance November 27th at 11:03AM.
My water broke about 4:30 AM on the 28th. I called the hospital and they said to come in. Was only 1.5 cm when I was admitted. They watched my contractions for an hour and then put me on pitocin. I labored without any pain meds for about 12 hours but when they checked me again I was only 2-3 cm so I opted for an epidural at that time.
They upped my pitocin to the max level and I reached 8.5cm at about 3:30 AM. I was fully dialated and effaced by four so I started pushing. I pushed for six hours with one break in between and in every position imaginable(I was still able to move and put weight on my legs even with an epidural, this is not common). Finally my doctor intervened and said that the baby was too big for me to deliver vaginally and that we needed to do a c section. I really wanted to keep trying but due the fact that my water had been broken for over 24 hours and I was exhausted I consented.
She was born at 11:03 AM at 8lbs 2oz and 20.5 inches long (she was 38W5D). She is in the 85th percentile for height and weight. Mom and baby are doing great!!
Eat.on Dav.id was born 11/28 @4:48pm via c-section. He weighed 6lbs 7oz and measured 19 1/2 inches. His lungs are just not developed enough yet for him to breathe on his own. As of now, I haven't got to hold him yet. I just go over and pet tiny toes and let tiny hands hold my fingers. ❤️
Sophie was born in a whirlwind of events Saturday Nov 26 at 823 pm weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces and 21 inches long- a week an drew a half early. I'll update a birth story later. It's extensive.
Emmaleigh Kathryn was born on 11.30 at 1409 via RCS after NST results at the 38wk appt were unsatisfactory to her Dr. Weighing in at 7.8lbs, 19.5in, she is absolutely perfect!!! Will post a birth story when I can
Cason Parker arrived 11/30/16 (39+1) weighing 7lb 12oz & 21.5" long @ 9:01pm. They broke my water at 6:15pm & I basically went from 5-10cm very quickly (no checks in between). I had my epidural for about 20 minutes before it was time to push. I pushed for 20 minutes and he was here before we even knew it! He came out "stunned" purple bc he dropped down so quickly but resumed normal color shortly thereafter. He nurses well thanks to nursing shields. He is also looking forward to watching his first Cowboys game with his dad tonight.
Baby Luke arrived on November 30th at 12:21 a.m. 7 pounds 7 ounces and 20 inches. I was induced Tuesday afternoon and delivered him after midnight. We did immediate chest to chest and after about two hours the nurses started checking him out and noticed he was having some strange breathes. An Xray was done and showed he had some fluid in his lungs so he had to be put on an IV and oxygen. He was on oxygen for about 10 hours but is doing so great now. We should be going home tomorrow
Eleanor Jane was born on Saturday, 11/26 at 10:26pm by c-section. She was 8lbs, 11oz and 21 inches long. I was 38+4 when she made her appearance.
My water broke on Friday around 6:30pm. The hospital gave us 3 hours to check in. So we arrived around 9, they admitted us and we labored 24 hours. They had to break my water two more times because with baby's position she was effectively sealing off the sac and halting her own progress.
After 24 hours I was only able to get to 8 cm due to the significant amount of fluid-my cervix was so stretched from the fluid she was never able to engage fully and the contractions were never strong enough to force her down. At 9:30pm Saturday we made the decision to move forward with a c-section. So glad we did. It was likely she never would have made it out vaginally. So glad she's here...we are simply in love
Allison came 10 days early on November 30th. After 30 hours of horrible back labor contractions, she was taken out via emergency C-section due to the cord being wrapped around her neck! Tiny thing at 4 pounds 9 ounces but we are both doing great!
Jameson David made his arrival on 12/02 - one day early, just in time to meet his uncle before he left for the Marines! 7lbs, 11oz and 21 inches long, just like his big brother was when he was born. The boys love each other so much!
I am so sorry for the radio silence this past week, ladies! I have been a little busy
Mary Margaret was born four days early on November 28, 2016 at 7:45 PM. She was 7 lbs 6 ounces, 20 inches long, and has a head of black hair, just like her momma and daddy.
Darren Emerson was born Saturday 12/3 at 8:03am. He was born at 36w 1d, weighs 6lb 10oz, and is 20 in long.
My birth story is a LONGGGG journey.
A few weeks ago I had been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia but it had been staying manageable. They told me certain symptoms to watch for and call if I received them. Thursday I woke up with a headache, took some Tylenol, but it still wasn't going away. I had been battling a sinus cold so I figured it was probably that but called the office anyways just to be sure. They got me in for an appointment that morning and good thing bc my blood pressure was incredibly high! The doctors office sent me to l&d for further monitoring and tests. They ran tests and my blood pressure continued to be unstable and all of the place and they decided to admit me for induction. Not the way I saw my day going!
Thursday afternoon I received cervadil. After 12 hours that appeared to do its job with softening my cervix and I was about 1 cm. They started pitocin around 1am on Friday. For awhile that was going fine, when I started contractions it was very manageable pain Wise. Friday around noon they were able to break my water. I still wasn't as dilated as they hoped, only 2-3cm. a it was like a flood gate when they broke my water! Toward Friday evening the intensity definitely picked up and I was thinking epidural. They checked and I will still only 3 or 4cm, progressing VERY slowly so I opted for the epidural. The process was so easy and didn't bother me one bit, I had no idea why I was so worried! In the past I have had some nausea on sedation and I warned them... About 30 minutes after the epidural things were going great with pain. DHs mom was in the lobby so he stepped out for a few minutes. Well I started getting sick so I called a nurse and then my blood pressure crashed and baby's heart rate plummeted so my room was immediately filled with tons of people just as DH walked in not knowing what was going on! They got me stabilized along with baby's heart rate and then got it back up to normal eventually. DH certainly had a momentary freak out walking in on that sight but they got it handled pretty quickly. Friday early evening I fell asleep and a few hours later work up in immense pain! My epidural felt like it was no longer working. I called in nurses but it wasn't until about 1 hour until the anesthesiologist made it up. Longest hour of my life! Poor DH was trying so hard but I could tell it was bothering him so much he couldn't do anything for me other than keep phoning the nurse to check on the status. Turns out my epidural was set low do to my higher pain tolerance so they kicked it up and got the strength caught up. Another 30 minutes later, sick again, but at least it didn't crash me.
After that I was done. I was just ready for it to be over and all this time I had still only made it about 5cm with baby not descending. Saturday morning, about 6am, we were approaching 18 hours since my water broke and I was asking the nurse if I could talk to the OB about next steps. Previously I had kinda mentioned it and they seemed very anti doing a c section until the last point so I figured I'd have to fight some bc they'd want me to go further. The OB came in, checked me at 6, and started talking c section. I was relieved there was finally going to be an end!
We waiting about an hour to be prepped and then they took me off. My blood pressure started lowering as they were getting ready so they started before DH actually got in there, so again he walks in as they are cutting, not what he was expecting to see. It wasn't too long and we heard him! They asked us one last guess (team green) we both said boy and we're right! DH then got to take him, hold him, and do some skin to skin. I got to see him briefly as DH held him. They ran tests right away with him being early and realized his blood sugar was pretty low so off to the nursery he went. I was of course disappointed but eventually got to go see him yesterday evening, hold and feed him, etc. So precious and he's been so good with us, not fussy at all and eating like a champ! His blood sugar has been rebounding since and now is off his IV they are just monitoring him not to make sure it maintains over the next 6 hours so we can visit him and are hopeful to have him in our room later today.
Phew - that was long but certainly helped to write it all out!
Jace was born Sunday 12/4/16 at 4:01 am. He was 7 lb 11.5 oz and 21 inches long. I was 40+2.
Started having 8 min apart contractions Saturday at 6am. Then around 5pm were about 5 min apart, went to midwife around 630 to see if I had any progression and I was only 2 cm so got an antibiotic shot since I was Group Strep B positive and went home. Contractions started getting more intense and closer so at 9 we called Doula over. Around 1130 we went to birthing center and I was dialated to a 9. He was super high in my body still and I was having MAJOR back labor pains constantly! Took me 4 hours to push him down and out but I DID IT! I had my all natural unmedicated birth that I was hoping for!! I was so blessed to have such a supportive birth team and to have a low risk pregnancy. It was the HARDEST thing I have EVER done but oh my goodness he is such a calm and sweet baby. He is a great sleeper too. I am so blessed!
Xavier William was born at 8:27 PM December 4, weighing in at 6 pounds, 7.5 ounces and 19.5 inches long. He arrived 42 hours after my water broke, but I was lucky to have a supportive birth team who kept a close eye on signs of possible infections and let us take as long as we needed. I still wasn't in active labor 12 hours after my water broke so they started me on pitocin. It got things going, but I was having stacked and very intense contractions with slow progress, and ended up opting for an epidural so I could get some rest. Everything went smoothly from there and once it was time to push, I pushed him out in an hour, just as the epidural was wearing off. I'll post a more complete version in a birth story thread when I have time.
Wednesday morning I was doing the morning routine with DS when I started having intense contractions. After watching them get closer together over an hour and a half I called my ride to the hospital. We got there at 9 am and I was dilated to 5 cm from the 3 at my appointment Monday. I got the epidural around noon which wasn't very strong and I had to get it adjusted, which I still felt plenty. At 1 pm the doctor broke my water and I was at 7 1/2. By 2 pm I was ready to push. In 3 contractions over 7 minutes she was out. We did immediate skin to skin for about 45 minutes. She's very sweet and a very easy baby. I feel so blessed. Her big brother loves giving "baby" kisses.
Kyler Gary was born 12/2, on his due date, at 1:21am after I had been in labor for 28 hours and awake over 40. After attempting a natural labor for almost 20 hours and only dilating to 6 cm, I really requested an epidural so I could rest before pushing this little turkey out. When he finally made his appearance, Daddy caught him, laid him on my belly, and after the cord stopped pumping, Daddy got to cut the umbilical cord. Daddy, the big, tough guy he is, even cried, which made me cry...and then we were a bubbering mess. Kyler weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 20.5 inches long. He latched within an hour and has been a great eater since.
Evelyn was born at 721 am on December 5 via RCS. It was completely uneventful and a totally different experience than my first...so calm. We both have had some struggles but seem to be improving now. She was 7lb6oz.
Elijah was born today at 12:27. I went in at 730 due to my contractions being 3 minutes apart. got the epidural right away. I got a fever around 11, turns out it was from my placenta deteriorating so he came at the right time before the infection took over. Sorry about photo quality I broke the camera on my phone.
Maverick Michael arrived at 8:32 pm on 12/01/16, 13 days early, weighing 9lb 1oz & 20.75" long. I went into my OB for a labor check at 10am after being up all night long with a killer lower back ache turn out I was 5.5 cm. He sent me home to get my things as he was admitting me to L&D. We arrived at the hospital shortly before 1pm, by then things hand stalled out so we started pit around 3:00. I decided to get an epidural at 5:00 which took until 7 before it was in correctly and working. They broke my water right after and I basically went straight to 10cm very quickly. I pushed for maybe 15 mins. He came out so quickly his whole face is bruised. We are so in love!!!
Isabella Catarina was born 12/8 at 12:37 p.m. Via planned cesarean due to breech presentation. She is 18" long and 5 lbs 12 oz. she enjoys eating, eating, pooping and eating. The birth was interesting and so unlike anything I imagined. We are enjoying all the snuggles during recovery.
Lauren Johanna 5.2lbs/19in and Lucas Charles 4.15lbs/18in were born 12/8 at 6:30 and 9:08 am (respectively) at 36w6 days. Med free, vaginal births with a few minor complications for me. Doing well in the special care nursery for feeding/growing. Hope to have them home very soon!
Luis.a Ma.e was born yesterday 12/8 at 1:45 pm via (slightly traumatic) c-section after the water broke 24 hrs earlier and dilation stalled at 4cm with back labor. She is doing perfectly, and is a happy, healthy 8 lbs 1 oz (I am a petite 5'1 woman)! She is learning to latch on her own and is a great feeder. Mommy is recovering and will post birth story sometime next week.
Our baby boy Max arrived after an incredibly short 4 hours of labor on 12/10/16.
Updated story: I was scheduled for an induction on Thursday 12/8 at 41 weeks, but was having (regular and mildly uncomfortable) contractions on 12/7 and called my doctor asking if I could push back the induction because I thought I might go into labor on my own. She had us come in for an appointment to check on baby and then said we could wait until Monday 2/12. Unfortunately, on Wednesday night, while I was sleeping, the contractions died down and I was pretty disappointed/frustrated. Nothing happened on Thursday. Friday they started back up again but I didn't want to get my hopes up. I went to bed as usual but then woke up around midnight. Still having the contractions but they still weren't causing any real pain. Then my water broke. I woke up DH and we sorted ourselves out, got dressed, etc. I tried paging the doctor but got no reply so I told DH we should just head into the hospital. The contractions started getting really bad after my water broke and I was leaking fluid everywhere despite my maxi pad. When we got to the hospital we got admitted and the doctor arrived and said I was dilated to 5 cm. The nurse had called anesthesia several times but they didn't come. The contractions were frequent and really very painful and I tried my best to breathe through them but was pretty miserable (med free labor was not my plan). Finally, at around 3:30 am, anesthesia showed up and placed the epidural. Shortly after that, the baby had a decel and tons of people rushed the room. They had me change positions several times and I think maybe gave me some meds (my BP had dropped as well I think). Finally, when I was on all fours, baby seemed to do better and everyone left. The nurse asked how I was feeling with the epidural and I said I was feeling much better and could now only feel the contractions in my right butt cheek. She called the doctor and the doctor checked and said I was dilated to 10 and we were ready to start pushing. Pushing was actually remarkably calm. It was only DH, the nurse and the doctor. After about 45 mins of pushing, the baby arrived screaming. It was very crazy and very cool. We did skin to skin for about an hour, and then they cleaned him off and DH held him. Like I said, from the time my water broke to the time baby arrived was only 4 hours! DH and I were in shock.
Our first day in the hospital he had a blood sugar issue and we had to supplement with formula, but other than that he is perfectly healthy. We're home now and doing well.
