Labor and All of it's Glory

Re: Labor and All of it's Glory

  • @LGW2015 I've had 2 inductions so I've never gone into labor on my own. My first the midwife broke my water and contractions started coming steadily at 5-6 minutes apart. I never needed pitocin. With my second they broke my water and started pitocin and contractions came right on top of each other. I'm really hoping to avoid pitocin this time! Once your water is broken there's no cushion so I think that's why my contractions were strong and steady from the get go.

  • My students are really freaked out that I'll go into labor at school (tbh, I am too!). But Mrs. P, what would we DO? Lol
  • @sportiegrl1213 it wasn't that horrible! You kind of just DGAF! At the hospital my husband was trying to wipe it up when we checked in and they laughed and said don't worry about it!! I ended up just chucking the underwear and the towel! We were also lucky it was like 11pm when my water broke so the hospital wasn't busy!

@lgw2015 I think everyone's labor can be so different. I was having what I thought were strong BH contractions- and got out of bed to walk around downstairs/sleep on the couch to hope they would stop. Just when I thought they had gone away I saw on the couch and felt a pop and ran to the bathroom- my water had broken. Right away my contractions were very strong, I couldn't stand up straight and they were like no more than 7 minutes apart. Within an hour and a half, when we got to the hospital they were 2 minutes apart. I kinda assume if I had a vaginal delivery then it wouldn't have been that long!
  • @ashleyp625 tell them they'll get the mop.
  • Oh man! I am so scared of my water breaking at the office. I think about this constantly, wondering who I would tell and who would clean it up! This convo just increases my anxiety about it. Haha
  • @UFJen - that's actually something I've been worried about... Traffic. Our hospital is close but morning traffic has been HORRIBLE since school started back up. We have a Charter school using the church in our neighborhood as their school until building is done on their location this year... Well, because of that, it takes half an hour just to get out and onto the main road when leaving our neighborhood. It's the worst and I'd just really like to not sit in that while in labor lol
  • Sitting in the car while in labor is the worst. You're buckled in, you're stuck in the same position. With my last DD, we had to drop the older kids off with grandma before heading to the hospital. It was sort of on the way, but it was an extra ten minutes of torture.

I'm hoping to go into labor in the middle of the night so she can just come here while the kids sleep and then DH can get back home in the morning to bring them to school.

This is also going off having really short past labors.

  • @ibabyloveb87 I almost just love titted your comment and thought "mmm betta reply." LOL!
  • If this kid doesn't quit playing falsies with me, I'm about to reach up there and pull his little ass out... but fa real doe...

+1. I barely bump actively anymore - just love tit everything - because I'm so exhausted from trying to get these girls to have birthdays. If I didn't think it would cause brain damage, I would go hop up each stair of my staircase and then finish with some jumping jacks. GET OUT OF ME!

It doesn't help that I'm measuring WELL over 40 weeks pregnant (more like 43/44) and I keep seeing "on this day" photos of my tight little tummy that I'm pretty sure they have destroyed. It's getting depressing at this point.

    *end rant*
It's really depressing.  I was looking for a new dress for the holidays and found a super cute one (but tight) and it's sad thinking:  "but will I fit in it by Thanksgiving?"  "but will I fit in that by Christmas?"

    Waaaaaaah.
  • @mrszoess already!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!  What's a 24 hour urine???
  • Those who are trying to go into labor, eating a bunch of fresh pineapple would get contractions started for me with DD. They always fizzled out, but it might work for others.

Friends have had success with curb walking. You walk with one foot on the street and one on the curb to open up your pelvis.

    *stuck in the box*
24 hour urine is usually done when there's concern for pre-e or pih.. so, you collect urine for 24 hours in a fancy jug and they test the amount of protein that you pass.. the less protein the better.. higher protein = higher chance of delivery because of pre-e.
  • @bamacoop I might prefer it to happen that way. They don't start checking me until next week which is 38 weeks and I'd be totally ok with it!

  • @SpaceBurger I'd totally clown hunt. But in a geeky "can I use you as a subject for my sociology class" way.
If I were to hunt down and interview a bunch of scary clowns, don't even pretend you wouldn't want to know what they have to say about why they do it and what they're trying to get out of it!
  • @AllyTheKid I would totally want to know their thoughts, but I'll let you handle that interview. Send me a messenger pigeon or something with their responses so they can't find me.  :D

  • @AllyTheKid You'd just hunt them all down......for an interview hahahha

  • Okay now I want a documentary special on the clowns @AllyTheKid!!!  You can pitch it to Netflix.
  • @SpaceBurger Hey, there would be threats too! "Alright clown, tell me everything I want to hear or I'll expose you for the average Joe you really are under that garb!"
  • +1 with not wanting to go into labor at work, at least the hospital is on my drive from work to home, so I could just go right there and have my husband meet me.  Another positive is my office is 90% females who have had babies before, so I don't think it'd be as awkward to explaining what's going on.

I keep waiting to go to my doctor's appointment each week to have my doctor say "you better head to L&D".  Friday's appointment we were 3 cm and 50% so I'm interested to see what she'll say this week.

While I admire the openminded adventuresome-ness, I wouldn't want to go clown "hunting." Not so much for fear, but because I'm pretty sure I already know the motivation and it's immature and pathetic at best. I believe it's simply to do with attention-seeking and young men hoping to appear intimidating... I mean it's not as though they are using the *clown platform* to make some kind of groundbreaking political statement or something. It's like the ICP thing. I just can't imagine they'd have anything interesting or important to say further than "I desperately need therapy." #notimeforthatshit
  • I'm 36 weeks and no longer have to take it easy. So naturally I harvested 2 large wheel barrows of potatoes out of my moms garden bymyself. I just want him OUT NOW. My dates put me at 37 weeks on conception. But I know nothing is gonna happen unless my body is ready so oh well I'll just be super productive then trying to get him out.

+1 on this. I was debating on calling because I get nervous with the placenta précis- but I'm not bleeding and it's not consistent but it's like BH tightening and lower cramps. Someone's not gonna sleep tonight.

  • I had my first eye-crossing "omg I gotta sit down" Contraction this afternoon. It didn't feel like a period cramp. More like, an all over my belly cramp. The kind of cramp you feel when you have diarrhea, those few seconds before you poop and you're all sweaty and cold? It felt like that.

Now I wanna know if that was what a Contraction feels like? I got excited and downloaded a Contraction timer app.

@NoraAurora omg the icp clowns. Did you know they have a yearly festival? If you haven't seen it yet, Google "juggalo festival buzzfeed" I cannot.
  • Super crampy, lots of pressure and I reached my fingers down there to feel around a bit and it was hard and not squishy like baby is all up in my business already. I'm excited for my Appt on Thursday. I thought I felt gushes this afternoon at work but when I got home to check there was nothing. This little girl is playing games lol. My water broke naturally with my first and it was definitely a pop and then a gush, and if I pushed more gushes. I hope this one is the same, I'm always peeing on myself so I don't have time for no little tear. Lol.
