  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    16

    2. What are your symptoms like?
I feel a lump under my squishyness when I am laying down. Other than that, no real symptoms.

    3. Rants/raves/questions
This is more of a question for third time moms of snuggly kids, I guess. DD looooooves to lay on me in the morning for 5-10 minutes and just let the day sink in. Right now, this isn't a problem (see not-so-visible-lump mentioned above) but in the future, how did you sell any alternative snuggle positions to your kids? At some point it's going to be uncomfortable for me to have her on top, but when I try to maneuver her so that she is curled in the crook of my arm/only her head on my chest, she will not have any of it.

We just told our kids that they can't squish the baby. They get it, but they are 5 & 7. I let them sit on my lap but not directly in the middle. They have to be on one side or the other. Also, my bump is 18 weeks and quite visible.
  • 1. How many weeks are you?

    2. What are your symptoms like?
I have NO symptoms whatsoever and it's freaking me out! I used to have extreme hunger, FATIGUE, round ligament pain every few days, nausea, and my boobs don't even hurt anymore and for the last week I haven't experienced any of these symptoms. I've never been this far along so I don't know what's normal or not. Please tell me I'm not the only one. If I can, I can go all day without eating and not feel like I have to eat. I'm worried something happened and I don't even know...

    3. Rants?
i just want to find an apartment so that me and my boyfriend can move in and be a family :(

    2. What are your symptoms like?
It seems as though symptoms in the first trimester were more mild. I feel so much worse and it's so disappointing. I'm still napping like crazy and the nausea and metallic taste in my mouth hasn't gone away yet. After a miraculous discovery last night, I've found sea bands to be a tremendous relief. Not exactly the greatest fashion statement, but hey, whatever works!

    3. Rants/raves/questions
Do they test for iron deficiency at your OB? I think it's protocol at least once. My vitamins don't have iron because I'm a weenie and can only stomach the gummies. I'm thinking all the extra second trimester exhaustion is from a possible iron deficiency. Anyone else have experience with that?

  • @AdriGold , I get the worrying. All I can suggest is that you have 2 options:
    1. you can spend your entire pregnancy worrying something is wrong. (Then you have the baby and can spend the rest of parenthood worrying as well.)
    2. You can assume everything is okay unless you have a reason to believe it's not.

I don't mean that in a snarky way at all because, believe me, I can relate to the worry, I think we all can. It's just this is my 4th pregnancy and I've realized that you can always find something to worry about. I'd also suggest when you start obsessing, talk it over with your SO and let him know this is what's going on in your head and you need support/reassurance.

Also, the 2nd trimester can bring a lot of temporary relief from symptoms, so hold on to that.

    2. What are your symptoms like? Miserable, but only related to the wicked head cold I have.

    3. Rants/raves/questions: Hoping I feel the baby move/flutter soon. Also hoping my youngest's pinkeye resolves itself so she can feel better & go to school (and I can keep my hair appointment, ha!).

  • @LivingLaVidaGinger I'm a weenie too and use the gummies! I think my iron levels were dipping his past week because I was pale, more tired, dizzy, etc. My midwife suggested I take Flinstones vitamins. They have the same vitamins in them as the gummies but they also have iron. I would ask your doctor about taking those if you think your iron is low!
  • @AdriGold I also had very few symptoms from weeks 14-16. For some, its a little early second tri breather. I wouldn't sweat it!

I'm 18 weeks now and my main symptoms are itchiness (I think within the normal range), sore hips, and RLP, particular in the car or sleeping. Car rides are already getting uncomfortable, and I'm feeling really glad that we decided against a vacation to Montreal in November!
  • @Xstatic3333 but by skipping out on your trip to Montreal, you're losing out on meeting ME!
    haha.

    2. Awful heartburn all the time and very weird dreams!!

    3. Been trying to walk with DS every evening after supper when it's nice out. It's been so relaxing. Hoping I can keep this up until it gets too cold.

  • That's awesome @concreteangell! We'll be heading there soon enough. It's a 5-6 drive so not bad in non-pregnant times. We decided to go to our local ComiCon instead. @SciFichick09 will feel me on that decision.

Ha, I don't blame you. By November, it will be very uncomfortable to be sitting in a car for 5-6 hours even if you do stretch your legs every so often.

My last pregnancy, I drove to Toronto at 22 weeks and I was absolutely miserable. I ended up with a stiff back for the whole 3 days we were there!

Yeah, I'm happy with how it worked out. It would be a decent long weekend next summer with the LO. I can wear the baby around the museums, and have enough of a stash built up to indulge in plenty of La Fin du Monde  :p
  • @LivingLaVidaGinger in pregnancy there is something completely normal called physiologic anemia of pregnancy. It's anemia caused by the increased blood volume that is normal in pregnancy. So that could be part of what is causing the exhaustion, or just that it's pretty hard growing another human. I'm always tired too. Actually, after having my first son, I was just starting to feel amazingly well rested then I got pregnant again. It'll become a new normal. I'm amazed at how resilient my body is!

@AdriGold I know how you feel about worrying, but seriously everything @JulesFo said is so true. Worrying is not going to help in the long run. Try to just let it be. The second trimester is awesome for so many women because the symptoms let up during that time. It happened for me with my previous pregnancy and my symptoms have definitely gone down again. I know it's hard, but just try not to dwell on it, and enjoy it instead.

    1. I'm 15 & 5

    2. I haven't puked in over a week and most of the other symptoms have disappeared. I'm feeling pretty good! Some nights I have insomnia and I am pretty tired throughout the day. But as I said above, it's been that way since I was pregnant with my son.

    3. We spent this whole weekend at home, sick! I'm the only one who is pretty healthy in the whole family so I have to take care of my poor sick boys. Good thing my morning sickness is so much better!
  • 1. 18+1
    2. Nothing really is new except for the emotions of the past couple days. I'm ready to be out of this funk and on with life. I'm getting there.
    3. No rants, really. DH hasn't been very present at home and I haven't wanted to be, but someone has to take care of DS. But it's also been 2.5 months since H has been home for more than a weekend. And I've been eating a lot of chocolate.
  • And on the topic of car trips, we're driving 6 hours for Thanksgiving to go back home, we'll see how that goes. DS has been doing really well the last couple trips, not sure how I will do.
  • I've been on my feet for two hours cooking and cleaning.  My back is killing me.  I just can't do as much as I used to.
Also, I went grocery shopping and carried some kind of heavy stuff inside.  When I do this, my stomach hurts.  Is this a bad sign that I shouldn't be lifting? I mean, doctors say you can exercise and everything if you used to do it before pregnancy.  I used to being in groceries before pregnancy, too. So I don't know.  Do you ladies have any advice? Thank you!

    2. What are your symptoms like? My back hurts, but the nausea seems 90% gone.  I've had killer headaches on and off, but the lack of symptoms obviously has me nervous, it's probably just second tri kicking in, so I'm trying to remain calm and be hopeful.

    3. Rants/raves/questions I got nothing.

    2. What are your symptoms like? Still puking, but now experiencing hip and boob pain. Somewhat randomly, my skin has also been very sensitive.

    3. Rants/raves/questions I'm super jealous of anyone who has already stopped with the morning sickness. Seriously, I'm on 7 pills per day between diclegis, zofran, and Phenergan, and I still throw up most evenings, sometimes more than once. What. The. Heck.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @AdriGold yup I'm in the same boat. 15+2 and not feeling any symptoms. And today I had such a small appetite that I didn't eat lunch until 3:00. Even then I didn't really feel hungry. Everything is most likely fine but It's still hard not to feel concern over it. My next appointment is this Wednesday and it can't come soon enough!

I agree. It sucks. With DD I was like that until 22 weeks. Then I was able to cut down to 1 zofran. This time I'm taking 2 diclegis and 2 zofran and not throwing up every day (but stil a lot) and I'm hopeful that I only have a month left. Towards the end of my last pregnancy I could even cut the zofran in half most days!

  • @Starfish113 That at least gives me hope that there is an end. At this point I'm starting to feel like I'm still going to have morning sickness when I'm nursing this child.

  • @Amber_Waves I was picturing goats farting in protest and had to laugh! Hoof trimming is definitely a different pregnancy problem than I expected to see on here lol

@AfKash I've noticed if im lifting something or stretching oddly I feel a pulling or discomfort in my stomach/uterus as well. My Dr has said the same thing as yours, and I decided that if something feels off I won't push it. I know I can't use my abs in the same way as I'm used to, so just trying to listen to my body and figure out what works

    1. I'm 19w2d

    2. Symptoms- my feet constantly hurt even when I'm not on them. They hurt like they're swollen but they arent (yet?). I have zero appetite most the time so eating is a chore and always makes me feel uncomfortably full after a few bites. Still riding the hemorrhoid crazy train but it's a bit more manageable, and my pelvis/lower back feels like the bones are rubbing against each other

    3. Rave- I can finally look back at the time I've been pregnant so far and be happy that the miserable or scary times didn't last forever. I'm enjoying being pregnant currently, and I hope that lasts for a bit :)
  • @Amber_Waves lol. I had no idea the type of issue you're dealing with (goats) even existed until now! That really puts my life into perspective in the grand scheme of things! Good luck to you! And yes, please do not get up on those goats right now.

@yogadevil thank you for your input!! You're right, I think I should take it easy, too with the lifting.  Only because I wasn't in great shape before I got pregnant and I don't want to get a hernia or something.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? 15 + 5

    2. What are your symptoms like? Still tired, headaches, stuffy nose, sore boobs, some heartburn, RLP, and feeling aches and pains in my back and abdomen

    3. Rants/raves/questions: I felt my very first baby moving flutter the other night while in bed. It couldn't have been my belly gurgling b/c there was no sound and it was down low in my uterus/hip area. It was the coolest thing ever. I am impatiently waiting to feel more movement...and cannot wait for that. Also, this what would be best described as lightning pressure crotch is pretty darn unpleasant lol. Weirdest feeling ever down there. Supposed to be totally normal but boy is it odd
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 17 weeks today

    2. What are your symptoms like? Some RLP and a sore back at night that can keep me from going back to sleep

    3. Rants/raves/questions - I'm finally in the position to find an OB here (I moved when I was 12 weeks and had a full work up before moving).

My OB pretty much said not everything pre-pregnancy is okay and that if I couldn't do it with a baby in my arms, I probably shouldn't do it with one in my belly. Honestly, I'm using it a bit to my advantage because of all the aches and pains, and because I am on my feet 8 hrs a day at work. Take it easy!

  • @AfKash I get kind of a pulling feeling in my lower abdomen when I try to lift anything sort of heavy. I'm taking that as a sign that I shouldn't be lifting it. DH has been really helpful and tries to lift anything he feels I shouldn't be lifting and I've started getting less stubborn and letting him or sometimes asking him if he doesn't notice I'm struggling to lift something. It's hard for me b/c I like to be self sufficient but I'm realizing that it's for the good of the baby and DH is more than happy to help me so it's ok to get help sometimes.

@Amber_Waves I want a goat so badly but I guess I've got a lot of reading to do about them! I hope you are able to find someone to help you!

    1. 15+6
    2. RLP, nausea still when I'm hungry or really tired, fatigue, trouble sleeping at night
    3. I just can't manage to sleep on my sides at night. Though sleeping in any position has been a struggle lately. I got a body pillow which helps but I'm also struggling with ear pain when I sleep on my side. The cartilage in my ear hurts so badly it wakes me up. Apparently the problem isn't that uncommon according to google but all the pillows made for it are like $50 and the snoogle is like $60 and I'm just not willing to spend over $100 in pillows...

  • I am 18 weeks.

I am having abdominal cramping and pains. Sometimes lower and to one side and sometimes both sides. Sometimes I know it is gas but sometimes it feels like period cramps. I am also having tightening that lasts a while. General uncomfortable feelings. Heartburn is terrible. I am not sleeping and when I do sleep I wake up to pee too often. I feel awful if I stand too long. Everything could be so much worse so I keep trying to be thankful but I get pretty annoyed with myself sometimes.

I know it can all be normal but I am going to my family doctor this afternoon, I need his reassurance since I won't see my ob for at least another few weeks.
  • @MrsDramaK - Mine totally disappeared; but my nipples are still extremely tender.  Heaven help me if I accidentally brush up against anything these days.

@marriedhamstermom - I'm having the same issue with my left ear cartilage.  I keep checking my ear before I fall asleep, to make sure it's not folded over on itself.  But, no matter what I do, I wake up with pain.  So weird!

ut not too much else! occasional food aversion, some breast tenderness, a little constipation.

    3. Rants/raves/questions I felt little fetus flutters this weekend! And I organized my closet so I'm happy :-)
  • 1) how many weeks are you- 16weeks 2 days

    2) what are your symptoms like? In general I'm doing ok. Still tired. Occasional nausea. ROund ligament pain. Etc.

    3) rants/raves/questions. Anyone else dealt with some serious dizziness? Like I said above symptom wise I'm not too bad, but this morning when I woke up I was crazy dizzy and it's been a couple of hours at this point. Don't remember having that with the other two.

Siaciata, headaches, and yesterday I threw up.  But I think that may have been from something I ate or something because in the first tri I had no morning sickness at all.  I will admit that I ate some doritos for breakfast and then got sick about 30 mins later so who knows.

    3. Rants/raves/questions
Can't really think of one right now.

  • @Amber_Waves

Love the goat story! Can you find a milkstand used on a farm portal? Ebay for hobby farmers? Once SO and I manage to find our long-term home, it will most definitely be somewhere I can speedily acquire goats and a donkey or two. (And a dog and a cat, but still...)
